Are you still playing? If so, where abouts are you and what are you doing?
I'm farming for Gil for the treasure hunter trophy. From there, i have four other trophies to get before platinum =)

I only have to farm catalysts (three traps left) and gil for treasure hunter. that's the last trophy i lack (except for the platinum, of course). btw, does anyone know how many times you need that catalyst you can only obtain by buying it (was it Adamantine?)?
I got all trophies and admittedly haven't played since. However, I am considering booting it up sometime to do a bit of site content work... although in all honesty I think most of the stuff that would require me to turn the game on has already been done. :p Maybe a few mission guides or something, dunno.
I'm on 2nd play through and have just gone back to pulse at beginning of chapter 13 to try and get growth egg as thought it would own all in orphans cradle, esp the terrsects where half of the baddies give a tonne of CP. Turns out I'm too much of a noob to do it and the Ochus's lil minions keep killing me before I can death the boss man :(
Neochu will take a few attempts, at least, especially that early. Snow as a Sentinel and Hope as a Medic make the battle much easier (I've also tried Med/Med but it doesn't work as well), and yes, load Snow up with accessories that boost physical resistance.
EDIT: On-topic, I haven't played in a couple of weeks due to exams, though I plan on completing the missions guide when I'm done.
I haven't done any post-game stuff. My only regret is not battling a cactaur. I now spend much of my spare time reading.
I haven't played since I defeated Orphan. The game is now gathering dust, and will continue to do so for a very long time.
Well...i cba to beat orphan, i started again, lake bresha is cool i'm staying here forever T_T
I know it is possible, I'll go away again and do some more missions, did about 20 in the first pulse visit but will go again then tweak some accessories and have another crack. I will do it before the terresects! lol
After seeing the end credits I shed a silent tear for the series and resumed my quest in Oblivion. I now spend most of my free time reading and playing better video games.
Still haven't finished the game once yet. I'm in Chapter 11 mucking around with marks. I've just picked up Grand Theft Auto IV and Need For Speed: Shift for super-cheap so I've been playing those. =]
I'm in Chapter 12, just got to Edenhall. Kicking myself that I left Pulse with a grand total of 1 completed mission :( at least I get to go back though
Currently doing some gil/cp farming for some postgame stuff. (SPOILER)I've got some of the roles maxed out after obtaining the growth egg and I will attempt to go and fight some of those huge tortoises soon. Not really in a hurry though, as I'm also plowing through the God of War Collection.
No lol I meant like 1 optional mission :p
As a bonus, the remainder of the first 35 missions or so will be ridiculously easy.
I beat Neochu after some acessory tweaking and upgrading :D It was touch and go with it's little minions after but now I can do all the other missions and the terrasects with the growth egg and get all super powerful without dedicated grinding as such :D:D:D:D:D
im currently working on finishing up the missions and getting my ultimate weapons, but im doing the first actual grinding of the game, trying to get up some gil and max everyone's strongest original roles (COM for Fang, Sentinel for Snow, etc). After that, goin up against the neochu again for the growth egg cuz the first time i faced him it was definitely tough. just need enough gil for that first trap :D almost there. actually been getting a fair amount of gold nuggets just by doin the chocobo mini game, plus i love those darn birds. :choc:
I beat the game a month ago but I only had the chance to farm for gil/CP during weekends. I'm trying to get the genji glove from the rak...can't spell the stupid name. Mission 62. The two monsters that have that shell and multicast. Still trying to make my own strategy against them :(
As much as I actually like this game, I don't think I'll even touch it if I ever get the platinum trophy.
Currently I am in Chapter 11, grinding CP on the Archylte Steppes. Gotten 5 stars on the first two missions, and I'll probably try for the third here soon.
Lightning has maxed Ravager so far, about 3/4rs of the way through the eigth (last so far) tier of Commando. Then just got to fix up Medic. Won't worry about alternates yet. Ruinga is fun as heck, but why didn't they just name it Ultima, with Flare as the base version?
Fang has maxed Commando, and about 2/3rds through Sentinel.
Hope has maxed Ravager, and currently plowing through Synergist. Maybe it's odd to go for Medic last, but he gets Accessories and ATB gauges through the other two, not to mention they help me kill faster (finally, he gets Faith and Bravery! Now if only he would get Haste...).
Growth Egg + The Tesseracts = WIN
Not seen it mentioned anywhere but with the growth egg a run of 15mins in the last section of the tesseracts yields 220,000CP! :D:D:D:D There's also the added bonus of a few credit chips, moonblossom and sunblossom seeds :D
I'm happy now :love::love::D:D
I'm just trying to get the last few trophies, I have two more missions to complete and then I'm gonna go back and five-star the ones that aren't already. All my characters just have one more role to master which shouldn't take too long. At the moment I'm killing Adamandatortoises (or whatever they're called) to try and get Platinum Ingots or Traps. So far I've managed to get about 4 or 5 Ingots and 1 Trap out of like 13 or so killings, it's getting a little boring though :/
Trying to complete mission 64 after having complete the others.
Any suggestions how to survive his major attack?
Started playing Xenogears.
Three Sentinels.
Some defense/magic defense accesories would be helpful too.
Someone here gave me an extremely helpful tip. You waant to wait until he comes out of hiding that spam poisen quickly until it sticks, then return to sen/sen/sen and wait until he hides, stick more poisen on him after he removes it and repeat until dead.
Kinda cheap but it's still a tricky battle that requires timing
I donīt have three sentinels and my Snow is underleveled.
Your team get higher defense boosts with more sentinels. Having three is i think mandatory in this battle. When you get closer to the end of the battle, he starts hitting twice as hard so you're probabley better levelling your chars a bit
As for what i'm doing... i'm trying to get the treasure hunter trophy, i've done all the accesories and 3 characters have a tier 3 weapon. I thought i'd sell off everything i own to make Gil but it only came to somewhere over a million. This game is just way too stingy with the money
Did he unlock an anaclet?
17 missions completed so far (5 stars for all, of course). I can't find any more active Cie'th Stones, so I guess I have to trundle on with the story. After I finish farming treasures with Chocobos and redoing a couple of the missions to make sure I get all the enemy data for the marks.
I'm finishing collecting catalysts for the Treasure Hunter trophy. I need one more Dark Matter and five Adamantites, then it's simply a case of levelling everything up.
One trophy left to go. Gotta 5 star all the missions. Have done just over 40 of them... any tips for some of the remaining harder missions?
Use the Gold Watch.
Random: Instant Chain (requires only two items to activate) can help a lot if it activates. Unreliable, but it can change the whole battle right there (My Lightning is using it, and it has activated in most of the long fights I've been in).
I decided to quit doing missions and move on with the story. After completing Mission 30, I got a title, and I didn't want to get those out of order, so I'm heading up through the tower now.
Tried 3 sentinels and still canīt do mission 64.It still takes too much HP.
Tried Consolidation but he is too fast.
And I donīt know when can I cast poison. The attack is too sudden.
Well, i just beat him with 5 stars (Platinum baby!) To do it comfortably, i equipped two Champions Belts and two Magus's Bracelets on my party giving them all a 51% resistance to both Magic and Physical attacks, except snow who was one short to make room for the gold watch, but he has improved guard to make up for the one less accesory. I cast poisen immedietley after he comes out from his Impenetrable aura, because he heals off the previous poisen in that phase. Vanilles Malboro wand helps it to stick quickly. If you get unlucky, he casts his Wicked whirl straight away after leaving Impenetrable aura, which can catch you off guard with only two sentinals out, but mostly you get a couple of turns to make it stick before he uses it.
Have 39% magic resistance for all.Still too strong.
This atack is fire based isnīt it?
Okay so Im not sure of every single piece of advice you have been told-I have to admit I skimmed a little- Sorry! I did notice however that you were using Magic resistance items? This was exactly what I was doing initially and he was whoopin' me with a capital W. Wind resistance items actually worked much better for me in the long run for this particular battle, as well as did General's Belts/Imperial Armlets. From there you should of course use the gold watch (a given) and equip low level weapons to extend your time. Due to the tactics you are going to employ high level weapons aren't necessary since poison will be doing most of the damage for you. What I did was use straight paradigms for everything from buffing to healing without concentrating on staggering him (i.e RAVx3). Come out of the box and waste him with SAB-SAB-SAB until he flees into his sissy aura. Whilst he is attempting to resolve the ever present realization that Gran Pulse Clan aint' nuttin' to f** witt,' kiss your boo boo's with MED-MED-MED followed by a healthy can of SYN spinach to build an indomitable factor-de-tuff.' Repeat the earlier tactic of slapping as many debuffs as time will allow (poison and slow are a must) switching quickly to COM COM COM to smack his little cie'th head around before he scurries into his cry bubble. I would keep a COM COM MED paradigm handy so you're able to re-coup a little bit while still putting down the hurt. This is an option but I personally employed a COM COM SYN paradigm to re build a few buffs in order to save time for healing later.
Of course it is all your call but I will re-cap what I did to survive his winged onslaught.
SABx3
COMx3 (or COM COM SYN)
COM COM MED
MEDx3
SYNx3
SENx3
Fang/Lightning/Vanille
Each with 2 General Belt's and one Gale Ring (leveled to star- I cant remember the name for the next tier)
Any other defensive piece of equipment you wish to equip then feel free! I didn't however use any AUTO-(whatever) equipment since it wears off during the battle and becomes just a slot filler. If you want to buff up prior to battle I'd recommend a few shrouds. Furthermore I attempted this thing when I was under leveled and said to hell with it, then subsequently filled my crystarium with cp and my pockets with gil before another re-attempt.
I just got Limit Breaker. No real prep necessary. Just walk up to an Adamantoise, disable the legs, and cast Death until it sticks. Lovely spell, Death.
Didn't think that would count, but apparently as long as the creature loses that much HP, instant death counts. :)
Any kind of offense isn't needed. I used 2 tier 1 weapons, one tier 2 weapon and the gold watch, and simply cast poisen on him. Re-cast it after every imenetrable aura phase and he'll go down in 14 minutes or less, which is about 10 minutes below the target time so an easy 5 star.
Skyblade i did that too. Wasn't even really sure what happened but as soon as i took down my first toise i got that trophy
I have not beaten him yet much less made 5 stars.
FE: Have you got maxed out crystariums? That's a neccessity. Who are you using? What accessories do you have equipped? Which paradigms are you using? Who is your lead character?
I've stopped playing, in favor of Metal Gear Solid 4. After I beat the game I went back and tried some hunts, but after about 10 of them or so it got boring. It would be cool to get an ultimate weapon or two, but I really don't have a desire to farm gil for hours. I only have the stomach for one game with a crazy amount of grinding and that's FFXI.
(SPOILER)Quote:

There were funny and creative hunts later.Titanīs trials for example. Also you have yet to get the chocobo. And see sazh screaming at the cactuar.Etc...
Exactly.FFXII are far superior.
But FFXIIIīs may be fun enough for Del Murder.
Hey I resent that! I meant 10 more over what I already did. I think I've done like 25 total hunts. I did get chocobos and they were cool for a while.
I got the Platinum trophy ten days ago and haven't played it since.
(SPOILER)Got to Titan trials?
I'll try the Titan trials if/when I ever get back to this game. So many other games to play!
Grinding/Missions/Upgrading. That's it. Debating if I should start a new file, though.
If that was a question to the two posters above yours, it should be noted that the Titan Trials (which aren't a spoiler, by the way - you don't need to mark them as such) missions need to be defeated with five stars on every mission in order to get the Platinum trophy, so they both must have done that.
Trading it in. :shobon: I liked it a lot first time through and I certainly don't think it's a bad game, but the endgame and post-game content just doesn't hold my interest at all, and I don't see myself wanting to play through it again in the near future.
How much do you get for it on trade-in, anyway?
It was to Del Murder only.
I've five-starred the first two Titan's Trials (the first of the six end marks for the missions, and all the ones leading up to them). Still haven't beaten the game, and I'm stalling out a bit on the missions.
I've Five Starred over 65% of the missions (every one I've attempted so far). Is the Gold Watch ever going to be necessary? It comes from the last mission, it'll be useless by then.
It's useful if you want to get the award/trophy for five starring all missions. If you don't want that, then it's not a big deal at all.
Unfortunately, I lost interest in this game shortly after defeating (SPOILER)Cid Raines. I wonder if I will pick it up again some time? Possibly.
Um lets see. I've almost finished with gathering CP (just the last level thingy to go on one role for each character), when I'm done with that I'll be working on my equipment, finishing the missions I haven't done yet and just generally getting all the trophies I haven't gotten yet.
I was just getting to the part where you (SPOILER)hop aboard Atomos in chapter 11, but my PS3 died. Now I'm going to be taking the damn thing apart so I can get the FFXIII disc out and return it to my friend. If I'm able to get my save files and everything else off of the hard drive once I buy a new PS3 then I may borrow it again to finish off the game. But if I'd end up having to play through the game again to beat it then I'll be throwing in the towel. Hopefully all of the info on the HDD is still there.
I was going to shoot you a PM because I don't want to derail the topic completely talking about the ways a PS3 could fail, but since some other people may be interested in the topic as well I might as well put it here I suppose.
The failure I got was what many have termed the yellow light of death since it was discovered. It's a bit misleading since the yellow light can apparently come on as a result of any number of possible hardware failures. From the bit of research I did on the internet when it happened it seems that many theorize it can happen due to a faulty power supply, motherboard failure, or some solder breaking over time (which is similar to the cause of the red ring actually). No one can say for sure though. But when you get that error the PS3 basically won't turn on at all. Not even long enough to eject a disc from the drive.
I wouldn't be too worried about something like this though since the PS3's error rates are still reported at about 1% or less last I checked. It was just bad luck for me, but on the plus side I got to open up a PS3 and take apart the Blu-Ray drive (yes, I found that fun. Sad huh?). I did get my friends disc out unharmed in the end too, and even put the whole thing back together, though it was much more of a pain than getting it apart was. I'll sell it for parts now (though someone could always buy it to smash with a sledgehammer I suppose :D ) and be getting a new one in a couple of days.
Finished Assassins Creed last Sunday and bought Mirrors Edge today.
Concerning FFXIII I did nothing more.
Maybe will try finishing the last mission some day.
I wish you luck man. Get the platinum! You will be proud of yourself when you do. It's odd when the trophy isn't technically real but it's a pain to get, which brings a sense of accomplishment :) If you don't tire of it I'd say practice at it and youll get it. like that old adage goes practice makes perfect. feel free to drop me a line if you have a question about it but don't wish to begin a new thread.
-B
I think most people wouldn't know about it given the PS3's low failure rate. When only around 1% break at all, the odds of anyone knowing about a single specific failure until it happens to them are pretty slim I'd say.
Anyway, I have a new PS3 in hand, but my old save files are unrecoverable so I guess what I'm doing now is giving up on FFXIII. I just can't bring myself to play through 11 chapters again just to try and finish it.
I will try to equip wind protection equipment instead of magic protection equipment next time I try.But it will take some time until I play again.
I feel you on that one. I'm such a stubborn player that I'll ruin a fun game for myself long before I give up. Better to take a break before that happens IMO
I am being driven mental in my quest to get traps..... have the cats, can kill them without using death now, have lost count of how many killed AND STILL NO TRAP! ARGH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
*headbuts desk*
Sooooo annoying as on first play through the first one I killed (the mission one) surrendered one.... :( Have got a few ingots though... even have enough money to buy a trap now but not enough to then upgrade nirvana to dismantle it.... rubbish.
Bought Uncharted2 this Monday.
Loved the first two levels I played.
