What do you do when you can't sleep?
Usually just get up and active until I feel like I can. Lying down thinking about it just makes things worse.
Right! Thinking about not being able to sleep usually just makes it even harder to fall asleep. I usually just listen to some music, or play my G-Boy. :p
Something mindless... Watching movies, playing a non-competitive game, go on various forums, fap. Funny you posted this, I'm on zero hours of sleep and about to go into class to present a project. I blame peer-pressure and alcohol-tasting-amazing-pressure. And everyone being off on the weekend.
Saturday morning classes are never a good idea.
EoFF, play a video game, work on a video game, read, eat, cuddle...?!
I listen to piano instrumentals, most of which are FF songs funnily enough.
Play on my DS usually, this will generally end in my falling asleep and forgetting to put the DS on sleep mode meaning my efforts in the game were useless and need to be re-done it's really effective having to repeat the same missions on FFTA2 6 times a week to get you to sleep.
Eoff, cause my timezone is different from the majority of the members here. Which most them are active when I am suppose to be in bed. :bigsmile:
Usually I will look for some victims here to harass or chat with until I get really tired. Or if it is almost time for sunrise, I will go to the park nearby and admire the scenery in the morning. :bigsmile:
Roll over. Nah I usually just breathe deeply. Sometimes I can't sleep because I've had a REVELATION so I have to jot that down so it goes away :)
Read a book, of course. And try to focus on nothing, which is harder than it sounds but makes you fall asleep really quickly.
Intarwebz, video games, chatting, or cleaning. I cleaned the kitchen one morning until 6 am :D
I mentally exhaust myself.
In this particular instance, I've chosen to reply to this thread.
Usually, I'll watch a movie or catch up on my shows. Sometimes I'll play DS or PSP in bed until I start to feel drowsy. And very rarely, I'll read a book.
Normally anything on the computer, which probably makes it worse by making me feel more awake. Or, go on my psp and find my way to ebuddy :p OR..play on pokemon. Though I do that whether am sleepy or awake. . .:D
Getting up and doing stretches and exercises, although quietly because I live in a house full of people who go to bed early. It works quite well for me, it also helps a lot with morning grogginess, too. If that doesn't work I just read, listen to music or play video games until I'm fed up with still being awake.
Either try harder, or go do something else. Playstation, Xbox, etc.
I take half an Ambien, and then I'm out to happy land! Ambien is like an express visit from the Sand Man.
I've had almost no trouble sleeping for over a month since I went on my anti-anxiety medication though, so I hardly need any sleep aids. It's amazing.
I only have a hard time sleeping now when it's too hot in my room.
The last couple of days have been filled with books, Veronica Mars, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, and The Sims.
I have had no internet and I am going crazy.
I create these vast imaginary ordeals in my head and keep adding details to them until I drift off.
It's one of my favorite shows. I am also obsessed with her though.

When I can't sleep but I want to, I read until I have to read the same line three times before I get the meaning, then I turn off my book and close my eyes.

If I am trying to sleep for more than 90 mins, it means I'm not ready to sleep. So I get up and surf the net and bug online ppl on msn for another hour or two and try again. Rinse and repeat.

Well first thing I do is put on a DVD. Then I will switch on my laptop and browse the net... Once the screen begins to blur perhaps I'll attempt to sleep again but it never works.
But the final attempt is always the best.... Crack open a college textbook! That often gets my eyelids dropping haha ^~. The best one is a Finance book... Wow, 2 minutes staring at one page gets me sleeping like a baby xD.
I always have trouble getting to sleep, so usually just lie there. If I'm still awake for too obnoxiously long, though, I'll get up and read for a while.
Since I was a little kid, the best method for me is to rock side to side. It works even better when I have music going. Up until I got married, I did it every night. Now I only do it when I have absolutely need to get some sleep and it's late. Otherwise, I'd probably drive my wife nuts. :p
I drop an anvil on myself. Works every time.
Sleep usually.
I just persist until I do fall asleep.
