Run from the cure

Has anyone seen this movie by Rick Simpson?

Rick Simpson was a resident of Nova Scotia. He created the cure for cancer by using a derivative of hemp oil. He went to Amsterdam to receive an award from the cancer society there and when he left, the canadian government raided his house, took all his things and said if he comes back to canada he'll be imprisoned for life. This guy GAVE cancer patients the cure for FREE and he is seen as a terrible person.

What are your thoughts on this matter/movie?

I'm afraid I'm not following. This was a documentary or fiction, or? He didn't actually cure cancer, did he?

Cause there's still an awful lot of cancer out there.

Its a documentary on Rick Simpson. He created the cure for cancer, gave it out to people for free.

There are testimonials from people that only had months to live and within 4 days of using his cure, they were better.

Because it undermines the entire life's work of a lot of people dedicated to legitimately curing cancer. It's not even worded as an alternative treatment, or slight advancement... it's some asshat vaingloriously claiming he has the "cure" for cancer.

It offends me.

Yeah, I'm a little dubious of these claims. "Cancer" is not one disease caused by one thing. There are many types of cancers caused by a variety of mutations in cells (though a good number involve some of the same ones). I've heard that a lot of things "cure" cancer, but until I see actual studies, I'm not believing any of it.

That being said, marijuana is used to help treat cancer pain, though the US government has appallingly fought that tooth and nail for years. Heaven forbid people who may be dying use a mostly harmless drug to treat their chronic pain.

i highly HIGHLY doubt you can reverse the genetic decomposition of cells with weed or anything for that matter.

Hythloday, chill out man. I saw a movie once where some dude killed cancer cells just by hovering his hand over the petri dish they were in. Is that offensive? No, it was a movie. I think the point of the movie Aggy's describing is that the guy is trying to make a real difference and is treated unfairly for it.

You make it sound like this dude just stumbled upon it with your talk of underming other people's life work. It seems to me that you haven't done any digging on what Aggy's talking about so how would you know he's not one of those people?

Burden of proof to provide evidence for us isn't on us here. She brought the onus of truth upon herself when she made the claim someone found "the cure" for cancer through hemp. I'm skeptical. But I'd like to see the research or a youtube clip, or something.

Is there a reason why the canadian government raid his house in the first place? :bigsmile:

I seriously doubt that he achieved what he claims, but I've decided to watch a bit of this film out of curiousity.

edit: 3 minutes into watching it and Simpson says "Hemp is the most medicinal plant known to man." Seriously? It's chock-full of mediciney goodness? It just cures everything? Already, watching this seems like a big fat waste of time.

I'm kinda dubious about this guy's claims but I'm not completely ruling it out because hemp, apparently, has many medicinal and non-medicinal uses, so it is possible. But I really do doubt it.

The only reason the pot plant has been deemed "illegal" is because they know it can cure many things and be used in so many ways. If they deem it unusable we have to go to other sources, not so pure and get even more sick because of the chemicals, all because the pharmaceutical companies want money.

Agrias, marijuana illegalization happened way before there were legitimate pharmaceutical companies. It was first made illegal in the early 1900's due to several different reasons; among them use predominately among African Americans, Mormons and Mexican immigrants and the fact that it was a very competitive cash crop against tobacco which was making crazy money for Americans.

Furthermore, what'shisface didn't say he wanted your relatives to die faster. And he didn't say you were a terrible person. But everyone could stand to do a little more research, I agree.

So basically everyone who wasnt liking the lack of money they were getting from everyone using marijuana decided to make it illegal because they were greedy.

When my mom was diagnosed with breast cancer the first thing she did was go through a massive stage of denial. She had 3 doctors diagnose her by touch alone and STILL wanted another opinion. What do you think she did after this episode?

Went straight for the miracle cures online.

Cancer isn't a cold. Cancer doesn't have a home remedy. Cancer doesn't go away after a while. If you do nothing about cancer, it will kill you. What this person is doing to your relatives and other victims of cancer is giving them false hope. They're giving them a reason to not go back to the doctor and face what they HAVE TO DO.

I never said you were a terrible person. The fact that you're discussing this shows you're probably a very caring person.

I'm sure there is a possibility of some placebo effect, some possibility this guy told someone "I have the cure", and that's just what they needed to hear to overcome their cancer. But I'm also convinced that's all there is to it. Do you want to convince anyone to stake their life on that? Do you realize this could lead to people, who are in a less than rational mindset, making very, very grave mistakes?

I think you are rather blind to accept heinous claims so readily, people claim they can do things every day, but there is no science/ research/ or case studies I know of that have the claims verified of a cure for cancer. I garuntee you there are countries considerably more liberal than mine (USA) that would gladly allow a man to research anything in order to find a cure for cancer. Believe it or not even America allows people to go through the usda to test marijuana for all sorts of properties. I think your mad for no real reason at all, meh, feel free to flame me for my opinions.

Okay, well i'm saying watch the goddamn movie and you'll see the news anchor that took the story in Novia Scotia and how the legions got shut down because Rick Simpson was giving them the oil for free to cure their different types of cancer. You havent researched one bit into this and the reason i brought up the movie is to educate people like you who are so avidly against something you know NOTHING about.

I have watched the movie. If I had cancer and I was going off the movie alone, I'd think it was a big hoax. It pretty much plays out like an infomercial, not a documentary. It doesn't explain why THC works to combat cancer, it just says it does and that it's "very medicinal"

Seriously, it seems so much like a one-hour infomercial, it's would've been laughable if it wasn't such a serious topic. Spinning graphics and a voice-over saying it'll cure "cancer, common colds, snoring, organ failure etc. etc." doesn't instill me with belief.

Whilst I don't deny that THC does have medicinal uses and that there is research to support this, I'm still very doubtful of these claims. And a few scattered testimonials on the world wide web aren't going to convince me that all the medical, pharmaceutical and health departments in the world are in on a some kind of money-thieving scheme to leave cancer uncured. Call me small minded or pessimistic, but this is just how I honestly feel about it.

I know a person who suffers from cerebral pulse and the only way he is living today is because the weed that he smokes keeps the seizures away.

Another friend of mine has OCD, smoking weed helps his mind stabilize itself.

My step mother had an accident where she pretty much had her spine crushed by a shelving unit. She has no feeling in her leg except for painful spasms from her pain receptors in that leg. The doctors put her on morphine so she wouldnt feel the pain but all the morphine did was turn her into a zombie. She lost half her body weight while she was on morphine and was about to die. A friend of hers had her try some hash and after two uses she saw positive reactions. She was awake and perceptive, she would eat healthily, she didnt feel the pain in her leg and was able to move it on her own more.

I've seen proof of its healing powers with three completely seperate diseases/medical situations. If it works for those, i have no doubt that there is a property in THC that cures cancer.

He broke the law repeatedly. His "lifetime imprisonment" seems to be because he thinks he is too fragile and weak to survive in the hellish canadian jails.
Not even the judge that tried him in 2008 thinks he's a terrible person, Alice. They said he was completely altruistic and wished he would have cooperated with authorities.

It's hard to find any worthwhile information, because every single forums post besides yours seems to be potheads getting very het up over his video and irate that anyone could ever be jailed for doing something against the law. Meanwhile, research is still going on as to whether cannabinoids would be useful.
Not just overseas as the militant druggies would have you think, either :p There was something published from University of California San Francisco in January, and from the University of South Carolina last October.

So no, I'm not going to get virulently angry. Scientists seem to be working on it!

I would consider it irrelevant that he's doing something minutely illegal in order to help terminally sick people. But i guess i'm on of the only people who think that way.

What i meant to say was, they've already been doing trials and studies, like the study made by a team in Harvard university in that link i posted a couple posts back.

Every time you turn around there's someone like this who has some miracle medicine and they're supposedly silenced via some drawn out conspiracy and all the accusations against them for their illegal activities are false.

If this was real, I guarantee you the last thing the pharmaceutical industry would do is use the government to erase it. Do you know how much money the pharmaceutical industry could make if they had an actual cure for cancer? They'd have everything to gain from this man and if nothing else pay him a huge sum of money to own his said cure.

Did you not read my other posts? I KNOW people who have used this for a cure to many different things, and its worked! I also know someone who has cancer and was supposed to die a year ago, he's still kicking. He also uses that cure.

And no, the pharmaceutical companies make more money by using drugs that make people better for a short period of time while giving them harsh side effects so that we can continue to buy MORE pharmaceuticals. If they had a cure all/heal all, they wouldnt get as much money because everyone would rarely be sick.

Yes i understand there are many things that have been documented to treat cancer, but this particular item can cure much more than just cancer, and it can be used as many different things such as rope, paper, blankets, etc. I'm not saying its the ONLY cure for cancer.
