Live-Action Version of ‘Mulan’ In The Works - Screen Rant

Eh.. It's not like it was a Disney original story anyway. I'd only really have an issue, if it was a direct adaption of the Disney-fied story, and not a more authentic version of the story.
Not really, no. Which means the only thing that separates this from the dozens of other movies that share a common lineage with a Disney movie is that Disney itself is putting it out.
The 'authentic version' is just poem about 70 lines long when translated into english, and the Disney adaption added things like Mushu, comic relief, singing but didnt take out anything important from the original (just the fact she bought the horse and has a younger brother and an older sister, Also Chinese music never sounds that good.).
I dont think there would be an adaption of Mulan (and there are quite a few adaptions of Mulan already) that is faithul to the 'authentic version' since theres so little content, unless they pad it out with fight scenes (which would be awesome if it was well coreographed) most of it will be fluff by other writers.
I am against this live-action remaking nonsense. How will it be better with a live-action cast? Can they do things cartoon characters can't? Unlikely.
I like Ziyi, so I'm actually really intrigued. =O
I'm pretty curious, myself. I'd like to see more!
I think this looks interesting. I'd see it. Probably won't like it, but y'never know!
Meh...could be good.
Toy Story was only distributed by Disney. The guy who came up with the idea was from Pixar and made a similar movie back in 1988 called Tin Toy.
Finding Nemo was released under Walt Disney Pictures but had zero to do with the movie itself. Pixar wrote and produced it.
Fantasia is basically a two hour music video and not a story. On that note most of the music used was written by composers years beforehand.
Oooh, this looks interesting. I like her, and she brought the project to them.
I would totally watch this movie. Not sure about the director choice though...
As much as I liked Toy Story, it's hardly an original concept. Toys that come to life when no one is around? It's been done many times, and not just as a film, but also in books and TV.
Toy Story's concept is that Character #1 is stuck with Character #2, who Character #1 despises, and that they have to work together to solve problems together in order to reach a good outcome.
They just happen to be toys.
I'm not the one who said it wasn't an original concept! I know that hardly anything is original nowadays. :p
I've decided that I'll see the live-action Mulan if they include all of the songs and dances word for word/move for move.

Seems like it'll be done Scorpion King style with lots of fighting. I don't think it'll be an amazing movie. Just like the Mummy or something.
Wait, Disney's making live action versions of Cinderella and Tinkerbell too?
If this is indeed true (and I'm questionable to the validity of that article), I will run to the theater to see it. :D
Yeah, a lot of stories have been used again, and again so I don't let it get to me, I just see if the story's good.
One example is the whole Two characters are in love, but their famillies and friends hate each other, so they are in love in secret - it's been done many times. And Shakespear wasn't the first before you say...
I like Zhang Ziyi so I'd watch this. I doubt it'll be as special to me as the cartoon version but it'd be interesting to see what the differences will be.
On the subject of there being no Disney Orginials - we do sort have Lion King, even though it has some elememnts of Shakespear (and what doesn't?) it is not a reworking of anything else.
And I don't want to hear about The White Lion simply having a similar sounding character name does is not enough, as both storylines are completly different.
Darby O'Gill and the Little People (1959)
^ That was a Disney original story.
On the subject on Mulan, I actually think it will translate well to live-action unlike many of their other animated movies.
