Everyone on default. I wasn't very creative back then.
one time, in honor of monty python, i named everyone Bruce. very entertatning, and occasionally confusing
i just leave it as it is ^^
but i named tidus in ff10 euuhh.. Toto (i thought), after my dog xD
Cloud - Moblin.
Barret - Garrett.
Tifa - Zelda.
Aeris - Ted Bundy.
Red XIII - I can't remember.
Cait Sith - MathWiz1.
I think that's as far as I've gotten in my changed name file. It's been a while since I've picked it up.
On my current playthrough...
Cloud - BoB
Barrett - Duke
Tifa - Angela
Aeris - Bitchface
Red XIII - Rastus
Yuffie - Kristy
Cait Sith - Tombo
Cid - Cid
Vincent - Vincent
The only name I changed from my original playthrough was that I originally named Aeris 'Arial'. Now, with the knowledge that I don't like her, my playthrough has been much more amusing and satisfying. Best moment was probably when Bitchface's parents named her. Also, whenever anyone asks her to do something, it sounds much better now. I'm sure there was a "Shut up, Bitchface." bit in the game somewhere. Not sure. Something like it. I rejoiced.
I remember naming:
Cloud - Bond
Barret - Moneypenny or some shortened version of it
But otherwise I just use default names.
I keep the default names for VII and VIII.
I never change names. Once I changed Red XIII to simply 'Red' and was uncomfortable with it for the rest of the game. I'm neurotic like that.
when i first played a piece of FF7 on pc, i accidentaly names Cloud Clouds.. bcaus i had problems with the keys and didnt know where what was :P
.. that stupid S at the end rlly anoyed me :(

Yeah I usually go with default. I'm nice and boring that way.
I had some decent names in my GBA FF1 game recently, I guess...
Cloud - "jerk" or "asshole" or something similar (with a small letter), to hear Barret go "The planet's dyin', jerk!" If space allowed it I would call him "because of you" to make that line sound even better.
Barret - Mr. T. This one doesn't even need an explanation. Especially funny when a little girl calls him "Mr. [name]" in one scene, which leads to him being called "Mr. Mr. T" and him replying something like "Don't call me Mr.! It's Mr. T!"
Tifa - slut. Again with a small letter.
Aerith - Bullseye. This one's already been explained.
Red XIII - Nanaki. This one should be obvious.
I can't think of anything for anyone else.
