Lent....

Why is sacrifice such a large theme in so many religions? Some people even go all humpty dumpty over religions...Which isn't a pretty sight, and rarely ends sunny side up.

I think I have a clue though, I'll deprive my life of its few joys, that way I'll be so fidgety and jacked up and pissed off at the rest of the world that God will have made me a real , and TRUE, God fearing man, when I turn bat:bou::bou::bou::bou: and set off in my aggravation and frustration at the world...My soul to save, Jesus, God, help me, give me strength to follow in your footsteps as I make my life miserably dull, boring....RAGH!

I'll be all like I WANT IT! And God will point and smile, and say "That's the idea!" I can start praying for my soul as I set out to the streets, I'll start burning them down and God will say, let me save you, let me give you strength to give up life's few joys...and I'll come together in the end and be like JESUS SAVES!!!

If I don't give something up, God is going to kill kittens...and this simply won't do...

Seriously though, whatever floats your fisherman's boat...

I didn't know it was tradition to give something up for Lent until I was an atheist. They probably taught me at Catholic school, but eight year olds don't pay attention to that stuff :|

i'm not religious at all, i find it funny to see what people intend to give up.... and end up failing down the line....... all though not every one

I used to give up candy. This year by sheer coincidence I am giving up on unhealthy foods for lent!

I already gave something up, not for religious reasons and I can't seem to think about anything else...:|

I usually wait until the end of lent and think of something i didnt have for the past month and pretend it was my plan to give it up all along.

Anyway, laugh all you want at me, but I believe in the of sacrifice. I'm a Catholic and Jesus Christ is my hero. So I don't think giving up one little thing is going to hurt me. But I'm not gonna go further, it's more like a EoEO topic.

No, I was just being jester's monkey. I'm fine if you want to give something up, that's cool. :) Please, don't take what I say negatively, as a catholic myself, I was just joking. I'm not that serious about lent but my brother is giving something up.
