The Newbie Party

After two elections without any newbies being represented, it's time for a comeback. In these two years, EoFF has become less and less popular with newbies, and I think that this just goes to show how poorly the winning parties have been in this time. The Newbie Party is here to represent the next generation of these wonderful forums. To lead to a better future. To help bring in the newbies, to help keep them posting, to help integrate them into the community. The other parties may be out there to help the non-existent droids of EoFF and, for some reason, fisting, but that's not on our agenda. Our agenda is EoFF, our agenda is the future, our agenda is making this place better.

Of course, it goes without saying that not-so-newbies can also join me in this fight for EoFF's leadership - we recognise that older members with good intentions towards newer members are what will help those newbies enjoy this place. They can offer guidance and leadership when a new member is confused or wishes to find out something, or... whatever. Anyway.

There's more to this party than simply newbies, it must be said. We like other things, too. Chats, hats and stats is something that the winning #eoff party (who were effectively a renamed version of The Newbie Party in 2005) once stood for and I support all of these things. I also support cheesecake, members sometimes referred to as underrated and unrecognised, and finally, we support the revamp of the frontsite of EoFF. Baloki and Rantzien in particular are held in high regard when it comes to their continuing efforts in this area.

Finally, as party leader, should I win, I pledge to sing any pro-newbie song you guys can come up with. Regardless of how silly it might be, so long as it is pro-newbie and in good taste, I will absolutely sing it. I will also not only do what I can to bring in new members but also attempt to bring back older newbie-friendly members.

I may be taking this a little too serious for some people's tastes, but I can't help it. I'm just serious about newbies. I'm serious about elections. I'm serious about EoFF elections. I'm serious about Eyes on Final Fantasy. Super serious.

None of them were super-serious about being pro-Newbie, none of them carried the flag. I suppose the closest would be the Avalanche Party. But overall, no Newbie Party or cleverly disguised Newbie Party was a disappointment to say the least. We're two-time winners, dammit!

I applaud your effort but you lack a gimmick, and kids these days are only interested in the shiniest party. Note to self: recruit Shiny. The 501st Legion has no qualms about adding younglings to our ranks.

Does anyone want to look into ideas for our requirements for reaching the next phase? We need a Party Motto and a Campaign Slogan. And if anyone has the time to make up a sig or two... :D

It's not exploiting, it's what the party is all about. Improving EoFF. This party has been around since before you were registered, probably...

Members should just use the name they registered with, unless BoB thinks otherwise. He has a staunch policy on name changes, one which is pretty valid.

I don't think that the Newbie Party should be about impersonating me - from the messages I'm getting from various newer members around the forums, the thing that makes them stay is the welcoming community and that involves being accepted as they are. People in this party are entitled to use whatever sigs and avatars they wish - but if that means using mine, I won't stop you! I'll just end up very, very confused. xD But, since other people are sometimes joining other parties because of name changes, I'm cool with people to have temporary name changes during the elections should they so wish it... but I personally believe that you should keep your own name. What's the point in making a name for yourself around this place just to change the name and be back to square one again?

Any sig involving hats is a great sig, though. I am totally all about hats. This is despite me only really having one hat. I don't wear hats very often, but they're neat to look at, and more importantly, it's just very fun to say 'hats'. Such a great word.

This election needs a roving reporter. :)

I like the motto suggestion by our quasi-member about our party being EoFF's past/present/future. For now, I'll put that up in our first post, however other suggestions are still more than welcome.

Probably too similar to the motto! The motto is apparently to be about the party, while the slogan is to be about our campaign... I've put up something for now about accepting all kinds of hats, which to me symbolises that no matter who you are or how long you've been around, you're accepted here. It also includes hats, which as I may have mentioned, are pretty damned fantastic. But still, I'm definitely open to other suggestions.

Y'no, I do wonder about how many people say we don't have many newbies in our party. We have a fair chunk of them. I wonder if any other party has more, in total or as a percentage of their number?

Alright everyone, I've sent out a message to you all asking for positions to be suggested/accepted/etc. If more than one person is going for a certain position then uhm... I'll make the call based on who looks like they have more time on their hands. I'm really hoping for at least two of the positions to be filled by newer members, giving us a nice balance between older and newer generations. This would mean we have both the guidance of older members and the insight of newer members. Let's go! :D

I've just been made aware that the tasks also need to be completed inside the 36 hours. I'm fighting for this to be changed as I don't think that offers enough time for us to establish who will have what position AND for the people with tasks to complete them. Still, it might not change and with that in mind, if anyone who is interested in one of the position of Minister for the Arts or Minister of Communication could start preparing for their task immediately in the knowledge that they will not have much time, that would be fantastic.

EDIT: The most important position to fill is the Minister for the Arts which requires someone who has played multiple FF games and is willing to write up a little bit on why they think one character is better than the rest. It can be serious or not - you may get more votes for treating it less seriously, so feel free to be creative!

If nobody is willing to do it, then I will do it, however as I already have the Prime Minister position I'm hoping more of you may want to get involved. =]

EDIT: Okay, for the time being - since we are short on time indeed - I am setting it up so that Bert is Minister for Foreign Affairs and YunaTidus, at her request via PM, is Minister of the Arts. Beyond that, Christmas has expressed interest in a position as well but we do still have three up for grabs so I'm really hoping for another newbie or two to get involved. :) If we can get two more newbies involved in ministerial positions, that would make it 50/50, which would be awesome. If not, I'm fairly certain that I can nag one of our older members into doing something. I'm sure they're all willing to help you out if you feel the need, too! :D

They didn't even need any pushing, it should be noted! There were older (in EoFF years) members willing to take on positions but they were already taken! I have been impressed from the start. Have got to know a few of them too, and I think we've got a good batch so far in 2011. :)

Basically you send a PM to Election Booth saying which party you want to vote for along with an area which you feel EoFF could be better - this can be by EoFF adding something, taking something away, changing something or improving something. If you need more info, send me a message for advice!
