Not enough money to be all "OMG I WOULD QUIT MY JOB AND BUY TEN LLAMAS!" but not chump change either. What would you do with it?
If you asked me last year I would say go on a short vacation, like to New York or something. If you had asked me a few months ago I would've said spend it on a new computer... but I did that anyway.
Now I say I would put it in savings because I've been house shopping and have a specific financial goal in mind before BJ and I officially start looking at houses.
I'd put it in my bank.
£1000 isn't really anything, I used to make almost that much a month.

Getting $3500 back on my tax refund next month, so I guess we'll see. I'm probably going to bank it, yeah. I need to save up so I can eventually get a loan in the bank to buy myself some square meters. I'm working a lot this summer so it's not like I have the opportunity to spend it on anything but clothes anyway.
$1000? Buy some new clothes, the guitar pedal I want, probably a new game or 2, have a very good night out & save $300 of it.
I'd have a weekend only memorable through photographic evidence. You 'put it in the bank' people are dicks.
Other than banking it in to my savings account, I'd spend it on an Mbox Pro, some midi cables and a new Shure mic.

It'd be pretty easy to spend £1000 here in London. Heck I make £1000 a month easily in retail and I don't often end up with much left for savings either. :(
However if you gave me a free £1000 lump sum right about now, I would most definitely go online, find me some cheap last minute holiday bookings and get the smurf outta London for a week or so asap. The hotel would be all inclusive which means there would be a lot of drinking and fun going on. I would also have to bully a friend in to the holiday with me to make it so that it'd be more fun.
If booking a holiday was out of the question? Buy a new TV (probably be 30 - 40% of the £1000 right there), buy some new clothes (20% - 40% here even if buying "cheap") and then whatever is left would go on drinking with my friends in a night out which we'd aim to forget but remember for one thing and one thing only the massive smurfing hangovers we got in the morning.
For balancement on my living costs here I would say if you asked me "What would you do with £10,000?" then I could make it sound a little more exciting.
Alright, I gave it some thought. If I was randomly given $1000, I would spend it all on food and a treadmill. I've totally been wanting a treadmill, and if I spend half of that on my favorite foods then I'll totally need one. Basically, I would eat sushi and ice cream for every meal every day for a good week or so.
Responsible thing: Pay off some of my student loan.
A "Because it's pretty and I want it" thing: Macbook Air
Ridiculous spending of money thing: Dinner at French Laundry and a 1 night stay at The Carneros Inn.
Charitable thing: Donate all the money towards Treasured K9s.
Better boobs for my dog. She's been complaining about them so...
We shouldn't even need money, but I won't open up that can of worms.

This actually occurs more often than I am used to lately. But I am in a combat deployment and pretty much making bank. Even though I never see any of it. But with two months left and ALL my debt paid off, I might. No more car payments, no more loan payments. Already dropped $2000 on my new Macbook. And when I get back me and $1000 are gonna party.
Too bad I have no idea what I would do with it to party though. There would certainly be all sorts of alcohol involved, since I can legally buy it now. Wh00!
