Ramza is easily my favorite, followed by Terra, Cecil, and Squall.
I'm partially the opposite of you BoB cause Lightning is easily my least fave and Cloud is my second least favorite. :p
I despise Tidus with the burning intensity of a thousand Foreman grills.

I love tidus so much, he's like everything I want in a protagonist. I mean the laughing scene totally didn't make me cringe and hope for death as a savior. I totally didn't want to punch tidus in the gut for the majority of the game.

I would hate on Tidus more if Yuna wasn't such an awful character, by being next to him, she makes him appear better than he really is. Then, a version of me from a parallel dimension came to me the other day, in his world, FFX didn't have Yuna so it sucked a little less than usual but he explained to me that Tidus is pretty awful as well for being a a crybaby cause his dad didn't hug him enough as a child and his big secret was that's he's a dead dude's dream, who is tasked o stop a monster who is his dad who is also part of some dead dudes' dream. Seriously, how can anyone take FFX's plot seriously? Just saying the last couple of sentences makes me feel embarrassed, and chuckle at how absolutely ridiculous the plot of this game is... Anyway, this alternate Onnak Flow set me straight about Tidus being just as awful as Yuna.Quote:

Cloud, well my issue is that I like the mercenary Cloud that you play in the Midgard section, once Sephy enters the picture Cloud basically becomes a Cecil knockoff, which basically makes him neutral in my book. It just killed the cool factor for him, I like watching my characters grow stronger in spirit, not have the big reveal having him become the type of character where most other games start from. Cloud's true past just killed the character for me, in both its poor execution and its awful results, I trounced through 60+ hours so my badass hero can become Kid Ryu from BoFIII, thanks for wasting my time Square. The Compilation hasn't helped him much either. :roll2
I know people who are kind of similar to Lightning (only more capable of having a laugh when drunk, although I don't know what Light is like when drunk, so...) in that they are often serious and are fairly 'tough girls'. I think her serious side was good considering the situation she was in, however at the same time I do think that she should have been capable of laughing etc. throughout the game. But the main personality trait she had for herself worked for me well enough.
Tidus and Yuna are equally as bad as each other. Being just as bad as or even slightly marginally better than another character doesn't make you better than other characters by default. As far as protagonists go, Tidus was horrible. Even Vaan was better. And, somehow, more mature.
You're right about the compilation, I hate what they did to Cloud. Even when he was going through his child issues in FFVII, that was at least his issues stemming from his childhood rather than issues stemming from the now. The 'present' Cloud was still tough, the 'five year old' Cloud was the one that was a wuss. The difference between Cloud and Tidus is that Cloud was a tough guy who had issues as a youngster. Tidus, however, still has those issues in the 'present' stage of the game. He's an annoying prat from start to finish. =|
