I will inevitably come back and edit the trout out of this. But for now, it stays.

Ehhh there's too many factors at play and too much variance to pick out a list xD The only song I've thought about in terms of an all-time favourite would be New Slang by The Shins, but it's not like I love it more than all other songs at any given time. But that's my non-committal answer I guess!

I started to do this and then as soon as I literally had listed off every song on an album I realised how pointless it would be.

I won't do a list but I will post a song that I love and that's stuck in my head.

This is another of those topics that's just so hard for me. I mean to really be fair we'd have to narrow down like top 5 songs of top 5 bands in top 5 genres and then I'd still probably just want to add a few. One song that never, ever gets old for me is "Layla" by Derek and the Dominoes. It just makes your heart swell up to your throat and you want to love someone that much too. Maybe I'll work on this.

Those are my two favorite songs. The decision is final. Now I never have to worry about it ever again.

(What a voice! I still think this song should be more popular).

Casimir Pulaski Day - Sufjan Stevens
(It takes a lot for me to say that a piece of music changed my life, but this is it. It is heart-breakingly beautiful, contains wonderful harmonies and layered horns, and is somehow both tragic and uplifting. It also tells a story that hits home, having lost someone close to me in a fashion described in the lyrics. Give it a listen, you might cry by the end of it but you won't be sorry).

John Lennon probably died because some poor man who had just been fired turned on the radio, and heard some bellend telling him how he should 'imagine no possessions' and about 'Sharing all the world', at which point he stole a gun and kindly granted him his wish, meaning Lennon wouldn't have to jump around countries for tax purposes anymore.

I could never pick a favourite song. I couldn't even pick a favourite album or artist. Top 10, maybe, but certainly nothing fewer.

However I can tell you that I love a little bit of the Manic Street Preachers and Your Love Alone Is Not Enough is probably my favourite.

I used to hate this song because it depressed me but I kind of like it now: Cat Stevens - (Remember the Days of the) Old School Yard

And this last one has a story to go along with it. In preschool we had a "show and tell" where we had to sing our favourite song. So a bunch of 4 year olds sang their favourite nursery rhymes. Then long haired and adorable four-year-old Dak gets up and sings this. Much of the point is... lost on me, we'll say, but doesn't make it any less of a powerful song.

And here, as a bonus prize, another song I remember from my childhood.

I will honestly admit that one of my favourite songs is Journey, Don't Stop Belivin' I was gutted when Glee did their cover version, it killed me a little on the inside.

I have a similar story except that it was in Christian daycare, we were asked to sing our favourite psalm and my song was a Swedish folk song about a cuban hooker.

Of course there are exceptions, DD. But as a whole, I find the entire SUBgenre (do you want me to call Indie a Genre, DO YOU MOTHERSMURFERS REALLY!?) downright unlistenable.

And some metal fans are really, really, annoying.

I love Modest Mouse more than I love some people, so my favorite song in the smurfing world is Dashboard. If I had to make a favorite list for them, it would go something like:
