Welcome to Mafia XXI. I am your host, the great, all-powerful Shadow Lord. You know, Shadow Lord? Right? Well I'm from FFXI so smurf off. This game is brought to you by Kaiserdragon and Demon Dude.

We have 25 available spots, but because this is going to be the best Mafia ever, we have all bases covered and less than 25 sign ups will not affect our set-up overmuch. If you don't want to play alone, or you think you may be busy over the game's duration, feel free to find a partner and share an account! If you want to remain anonymous then pm me, THE SHADOW LORD.

The game is going to start on the 17th of August.

Here are the rules, passed down from generation to generation. Brings a goddamn tear to my eye.

(SPOILER)Unless specifically mentioned in your Assignment PMs, all Mafia related discussion must happen in the Official game thread. Please do not discuss the game using instant messengers, IRC, Private Messages, voice chats, phone calls, snail mail etc. etc. No, we can't enforce this because we can't spy on you, but we would appreciate it if you followed this simple rule.

• Do not reveal your role privately to each other. You can of course role claim as part of your strategy in this thread. Just don't do it outside the game.

• Play nice. Even if you are using second accounts, don't resort to flaming and whatnot. Kill each other without resorting to being mean.

• Please make all posts in the Game thread under your specific Mafia accounts.

• Play fair. Also known as the "don't be an ass" rule. Being an ass includes cheating, diverging completely from your assigned role, going back and deleting or editing all your posts, using asshole-ish methods to find out information about other people's roles, etc. I reserve the right to replace or modkill as I see fit if you're not playing fairly.

• Do NOT use your Mafia accounts to post in any non-Mafia related threads.

• You CANNOT abstain from voting!

Regarding roles and accounts:

• All of the roles were assigned randomly to a player and then those were randomly assigned to the character.

• Don’t roleplay, it’s annoying. I know it is. Play your character how you want though. There will be no penalty to anyone who does role play.

• Don’t share with others who you are or what your password is or what your role is. This makes it lose its fun-ness. Think for yourselves guys! You don’t need anyone else. (not valid for shared accounts)

And a message to new players: The basics are easy to learn, seriously. This game will be as good as any to get your bearings right and we'll ensure that the game is suitable for all players. So don't hesitate to join. Plus you can be a cool FF villain.

This is a good tutorial for beginners/people who want to revise the game.

the day the game started I was completely wasted off my face, the day after that I was hungover to hell and then last night was the last night my friend from up country was down here to visit me and I was caned again so I did basically sack all in this game. Ace Attorney mafia kind of ruined that tactic, with two of the mafia and one sort of mafia turning against the Godfather and then dying immediately after like three days in a row, ensuring the mafia victory no matter how suspicious the Godfather appeared otherwise. Even though I lost spectacularly it was my favorite game ever.

That's what pissed me off! I tried to tell him that he needed to just die and get it over with! But he didn't, since he'd lose if he did. (A rule I wasn't aware of.) Considering the damage was done, I had no other choice.

Okay let's be honest, this whole game has deflated somewhat. Me and Kaiser took a long while doing this and Kaiser especially was excited about his first game. I also think there were expectations of craziness considering my involvement and that has not really happened. Overall we've been left disappointed and a bit miffed that this game has not lived up to its potential.

So I'm implementing a new rule. You're all going to be battrout crazy today. Not for us, or for yourselves. For Mafia.

I have a few other ideas for themes, not characters from games, but games themselves: Kingdom Hearts, Final Fantasy, Breath of Fire etc.
