Thank you all for your nominations! I received a total of 1415 nominations from 29 members. Seriously, it means a lot that you took the time to nominate because I know how difficult it can be. Here's some fun facts from the nominations:

• 1415 total nominations from 29 members.
• 17 of you took advantage of the new rule that you could nominate two people per award.
• A total of 135 different members were nominated.
• The most nominations any one member received was 73.
• One award had 24 different members nominated for it.
• 4 people nominated themselves for Most Overrated Member.
• Psychotic was somehow nominated in separate instances for Best Oldbie, Best Veteran, and Best Recognized Member/Former Staff despite not being eligible for any of those categories.

Im downloading WoW now for the first time. I ould tell you how much time I spent on oblivion but you would probably think I was lying. And I could telly ou how much time I spent playing ff games on the ps1 and gba games, but then you would think I was insane.

What I didn't do, though, was sleep.

There really isn't any more active regulars around here. Most of the active members registered before 2008 and would you really call them regulars? If you've been here more than 3 years then you are a veteran. So instead we have a new catgory, Newbie, an old category, Veteran, and an older category, Oldbie.

I would be interested in a chart of active members and join dates (by year). I bet you will see a sharp drop in the 2009-2010 region.

Oh trout! I just suddenly realized that I must have predicted that I would be nominated for that MLT bring a knife to a gun fight Ciddie. I really didn't expected this, but a few days ago I had a really engaging dream that I was an assassin fighting a team of mercenaries, and my weapon of choice was this badass knife. Most of the others in the dream either had a knife as well, or used guns.

I forgot to mention this (I have been paying attention to this thread through other means :shifty:), but I am honored with all the nominations. Most I've gotten in a while, that's for sure. I guess getting engaged, running the Ciddies, and writing smurflong articles on FFXIII-2 helped my declining e-rep.

*IMPORTANT*

Due to Christmas Eve/Day being on a weekend this year, it makes the live revelations a tad difficult to do. Some people may not be around on the 22nd & 23rd due to holiday travel, which were the planned days. Another option would be to have it on the 26th & 27th, which is a Monday and Tuesday. A poll has been added to this thread. Please vote in the poll as to when you would like the revelations to be: before or after Christmas.

The third option would be to skip the live revelations altogether and I just post up the results. But you guys like the live suspenseful revelations don't you? Right?

I'm happy enough with either choice, so my answer is Yes.

I vote before because it coincides with my time off from work this week and I'll actually be able to hang around for it and participate in the threads and such. My guess is I'll be at work all day directly after Christmas. :(

EDIT: It may also be the intent of anyone who votes a single person to skew things in favor of that one person, because clearly no one can match foa's member.

You should know by now that any rule change that screws with Raistlin's intent is most definitely allowed.

I can use a few more sets of votes here. Currently, 5 Ciddies are tied with 9 more separated by only one vote. That's pretty close folks.

As for the revelations, I am leaning towards doing it before the holiday to get it over with. That was the original plan. I hope people who voted after can still make it to the festivities. I really should have put a 'doesn't matter' option to distinguish people who really have no preference, but oh well.

I was slightly disappointed in that as well. I tried to include a few more gaming related awards this time around, but it seems as though a lot of general forums posters just blindly nominate/vote WK for every gaming category because he's the first one that comes to mind.

Though I'll agree Necro beats me not so much for Nethack, as much as its his willingness to do gameplay challenges like his low level/no job system FFV playthrough he was doing a few years back. I don't do stuff like that anymore, but I blame it more for being able to keep myself supplied with a steady stream of games, and not having to come up with creative ways to enjoy the small amount of titles I used to own after playing them a thousand times.

I assume I get voted for this because I have an opinion on almost every game related nonsense out there (are games art?, why video games need to be challenging, how console designs are bankrupting third party studios etc...) and because I tend to understand the game mechanics on a deeper level than most would care. I doubt most would care or notice differences in magic damage output between entries of the FF series and what is the optimal set-ups for each game, or how stats in the the games can be optimized for overflow damage, and what that means for the FF titles it applies to(Its a bad thing in VI, its a great thing in VII). Besides playing games, I actually like reading gameplay mechanics guide, that deal with all that awful math.So in my defense, I would argue that I'm at least eligible for the title of "hardcore" because I do more than just "play a lot of console games", now whether I'm the "most hardcore" is debatable... ;)

Some people might think that to be a hardcore gamer you need to play ASCII games non-stop.
Some people might think that to be a hardcore gamer you need to play 100 new games every year.
Some people might think that to be a hardcore gamer you need to achieve incredible scores.
Some people might think that to be a hardcore gamer you need to set yourself insane challenges.
Some people might think that to be a hardcore gamer you need to have 50 platinum trophies.

Personally, I think that to be a hardcore gamer you need to be hardcore about games. How you do this is up to you. But it's pretty obvious when it happens - most of the people here are very much into gaming. When we look at another member and say "Wow, that person is really into their gaming..." then that, for me, makes them hardcore. Luckily for that award, there are actually quite a few hardcore members who could be seen as the hardcorest of the hardcore!

At first I thought you guys were just having an ironic joke over who is the most hardcore on the forum, then I read a few posts backwards and now I think you were all actually being serious.

Is it too late to change my vote? I think I voted Necro for most hardcore gamer, but seeing how many panties get twisted by WK even being nominated for it, I am now rooting for him. Though that may be unprecedented; I mean, it's not like any Ciddie has ever before been awarded to a member who some people think is not objectively the most suited for it.
