What Is Your Favorite Book? EVER?

Mine's a tough call; it's either "The Brothers Karamazov" by Dostoyevsky, or "Watership Down" by Richard Adams. The latter has been my sentimental favorite since I was about 12 (I've re-read it about six or seven times now and still love it just as much), but man, Dostoyevsky is just sheer genius, I don't even know.

Somewhere behind those two is "The Golden Compass" (or "Northern Lights" as it was originally known) by Philip Pullman. I didn't like the other two books in the trilogy as much but man the first was great.

I don't know if I could really call a favorite, but I've always been a big fan of "The Count of Monte Cristo." Something about his revenge always really resonated with me.

I still read it at least once a year and then I watch the movie. :D

My sentimental favorite is The Catcher in the Rye. I first read it when I was 13 and it was just somehow so important that I understood how Holden felt. The older I get the less applicable it is but I'll never forget how it reached out to me across decades and decades.

Current favorite is Breakfast of Champions by Kurt Vonnegut.

I have many books I adore, so picking one is impossible for me. Some of my favourites are "Wuthering Heights", "Frankenstein", "Middlesex", "Lolita" and "Oryx and Crake".

My favorite has always been "The Hobbit." I first read it when I was in the sixth grade and loved it; it actually got me into reading legitimate books. I've managed to re-read it about 6 times since then just for nostalgia.

Probably Excession by Iain M. Banks. I think Use of Weapons and The Player of Games are better, but I like Excession more.

It's a little too hard for me to just pick one book as my favourite. But one book that's certainly up there (and is probably my favourite of the moment) would have to be Dark Rivers Of The Heart, I adore that book...might read it again actually.

Any of the Harry Potter books, but The Order of The Phoenix is a personal favourite.

'1984' by George Orwell.

It literally blew me away. I usually prefer a happy ending in books but this was an exception to the rule. When you consider this was first published in 1949 then it is baffling how he could envisage such a society. Simply stunning.

Order of Phoenix? That's the most emo one!

I'd have to agree. My favorite of that series would have to be the Goblet of Fire.
and for my favorite book it would have to be one of the first 3 Legend of Drizzit books. I love all three of them so much! or His Dark Materials with the Subtle Knife my favorite of those.

It by Stephen King would probably be my favourite. Honourable mentions go to Alice's Adventures in Wonderland, Animal Farm and American Psycho.

Don't pick on my new friend.

It's hard to pick a favorite, but that series goes in my top 5. 1984, The Great Gatsby, American Gods, Catch 22, the Song of Ice and Fire series, The Ender series (especially Speaker for the Dead)......geeeesh. It's hard to pick favorites. This is like the "favorite artist" thread.

I thought OOTF had the best writing out of the series, and I found it the most absorbing. :spin:
