Okay so here is the set up this time around. This is not going to be an elimination style tournament. Rather, we're competing for the hi-score of this karaoke arcade disaster that I am running this year. So each round, contestants will compete based upon the guidelines of that round, and afterwards, the good er... bearable people of EoFF will vote for their favorites. These votes will be counted as points to go towards your score and whoever has the highest score by the end will end. Because of this model, you are free pick and choose which rounds you wish to participate in and you are free to quit whenever you want. It just means you lose out on points that can nab you victory (unless you're really good and nab lots of points in the later rounds) which means you won't win our fabulous prize. Yes, we have a prize for this thing. Also, if anyone wishes to join mid-game that didn't sign up initially, you are free to do so as well, though you may have the same stiff competition as those who chose to skip a round.

Each round is going to have a theme, and you will have one week to record your song with something like Dropbox or any other recording poison you favor and then I'll post the results and the voting will begin. If you need an extension due to life, I can give you a day or two but no longer, I wish to keep this event running quickly so we can get over this. If I get all the songs before the week is up, I'll post them early and we can get this done even faster...*hint hint*

Here are the Themed Rounds:

1st Round - Player's Chose - Exactly what it says on the tin...
2nd Round - I Love the 80s - Choose your favorite 80s theme (or one you can tolerate) and sing your little Cindi Lauper heart out!
3rd Round - Pretty Little Princess - Choose your favorite Disney Princess song (even the guys) and belt it like Disney was going to pay you big bucks for it.
Final Round - ????? - It's a surprise...

So we are going to be starting now, so we're in Round 1 which means you get to choose whatever you want to sing and PM the recording to me. You have a week. :p

Okay, so I have ran into quite a few problems with a few people's entries. Mainly, I can't get some of your entries to play because dropbox seems to hate any file that isn't wav. format. I'm also still waiting for a few more entries and some other issues have also propped up, so I will have to delay this for 24 hours or until I can get this sorted out. If I sent you an mognet message for technical issues, you may want to try using Proto's uploading program he recommended because that has worked out pretty well.

Hopefully I can get the first round up soon, and I'll be better about checking submissions in the future rounds. Stay Tuned...

Sorry, I'm still having issues with two files. Who here has great technical skills cause I may need these two to direct themselves to someone who is a bit more knowledgeable to fix there situations. On the brightside, it has given me time to really plan out the next two rounds, of which I'm going to immediately start once I get the voting thread started. So for this round everyone can choose a song from the 80s to sing, but I'm going to make this interesting. You see,
I LOVE THE 80S so I have my own ideas of what should be considered the quintessential 80s mix-tape.

I've selected 20 songs that I feel should be in a 80s Mix-Tape and I will give a 2x bonus for anyone who sings one of my 20 song choices. The thing is, I'm not telling you what they are, so you have to guess what I am thinking of, or you can choose to ignore this and do whatever you want. It's completely optional. Just so you know, I've limited one hit per artist, so don't think that going through all of Michael Jackson, Madonna, or Duran Duran's big 80s hits will be a sure thing to get the bonus.

Last night I dreamt that I sung my own lyrics to, like, the Tetris song. Don't smurfing know but dude it was awesome being in block land and just singing off the top of my head.

Most of the list are one hit wonders.

Maybe four or five of the artist/bands actually had careers that lasted beyond the 80s.

Nothing from Country/Western music, but the list spans a few genres like rap, new wave, pop, metal, and more.

Weird Al has only done a parody of one of the songs.

That's pretty decent for a hint. Not gonna change my song choices though. Just have to commit.

Not to mentioning scheduling and all the other issues that spring up when you might be partnered with someone who lives on the other side of the planet from you. I submitted one back on Thursday night, but the more I listen to it, the more I realize that I graduated from the Mike Ditka school of singing (i.e. there is way too much of my speaking voice when I sing). The thing is, I actually am better of avoiding that when I am drunk. I didn't feel like getting drunk just to record one song, either. Such is life.

Alright people, we interrupt the usual flow of this contest cause someone hit the high score and it's time for a challenge bonus round!!!!

This Round is completely optional and has different rules than our regular tournament. Their can be only one winner, and I get to decide who they are though I will take comments from other members into consideration. The winner of the bonus round gets to double the score they earn either in the current I Love the 80s round, or they can gamble and use it for the next round, the Pretty Little Princess Round. :jess:

So what do you get to sing? We're going to do Video game themes for this bonus round, but I am not talking about lyrical songs like Eyes on Me. I actually mean Video Game themes.

I can't give you an example, since I might do that track. What I meant was there are pravda when vocals are used, but they just sing "ooh" and "aah"... Ok, here's an example - Orphan of Flame from Chrono Cross - you get your instruments and you male and female voices, but no words. They're more like a background here, but some tracks have them singing main melodies. So, is something like this acceptable?

Okay, so in about ten minutes I am leaving work. I then have to get some groceries, get home, and take a shower. After that I will record my thing. Not sure how long it will take because I am thinking of multiple ways to do it. Might go the extra mile or I might just perform what I plan on to in the simplest way possible. Depends on how I feel when I get home. Anyway, mine should be ready at the latest 5:30 US central time.

The Bonus round has already started, it was suppose to end today but it sounds like a few people want to try their hand with it. So it will be due by Wednesday for everyone else.

Pretty sure Sailor Senshi Disney Princesses is like the coolest thing ever. Guess I better start thinking about songs then, huh. Suggestions are kindly appreciated, Mister Wolf Kanno (and anyone else).

I can't do the bonus round unfortunately...

I need to clear something up for a few players concerning this round. You are restricted to using only songs being sung by the Disney Princesses, you can't just do songs from movies that featured them, though I am willing to accept a song they only partially sing like Belle, Beast, and Ensembles "Something there that wasn't there before" as long as the Princess sings part of it, I will accept it.

Okay... so the week is up for the Pretty Little Princess round and I got two entries... So does anyone want an extension or should we just call this contest over? I still need to finish the bonus round judging but I may make that Round 3 and Make Pretty little princess the final round. Does that work for everyone still interested in doing this?

I was going to do this yesterday but my niece and nephew came over. There's no way I can record something seeing as how they never sleep and never be quiet. Love them dearly tho. If you do an extension I can have a schizo version of Whole New World up by Saturday, if not just pull me out of this round.

I was looking forward to the last round, considering how built up the whole mystery theme was, but I guess that if the interest in this tournament has died down so severely, there may be no other choice. So in a nutshell, I'm OK with whatever you decide, WK.

Maybe, due to the lack of submissions in the Disney Princess round, WK could see it in his heart to allow my entry? Here is my reasoning...

- I understand that the song 'Kiss the Girl' does not feature the beautiful voice of Arial. However, this is not entirely her fault due to the evil Ursula doing a "swappsy" for a pair of legs. Had she been able to, I'm sure she would have added an extra, heavenly dimension to the song.
- Even though her voice can not be heard, the song is clearly centred around the Disney princess in question. All focus is directed to Arial and the many colourful, sea-bound creatures try their level best to compensate for her lack of vocal input.
- Also, I attempted to make up for the lack of princess voice by doing two separate voices in the song. There is my own voice of course... and an extremely poor Trinidadian crab voice which has to be heard to be believed.
- Finally, if you refer to the official 'Ultimate Disney Princesses' cd then you will see that track nine on side one is none other than "Kiss the Girl".
