I drew a picture of a handhttp://24.media.tumblr.com/tumblr_mb...o1_r1_1280.png

I enjoy looking at it but also not. It's nice but uncomfortable. Y'know? :shobon:
Yeah, I know, man. I understand. 10 points for anyone who knows who the hand belongs to.
In the meantime, here is a picture that will maybe not make you feel uncomfortablehttp://th01.deviantart.net/fs70/PRE/...es-d5acfae.jpg
The hand picture is neat but I am love loving the giraffe. More, please!
That is a marvelous giraffe and a quite exquisite background!
Thanks guys! I'm glad you like the giraffe. This is another picture which is patterns galore!http://th07.deviantart.net/fs71/PRE/...es-d5e4xa8.jpg I need to be working on a random doodley pattern thing for a commission so I'll be putting that up somewhere soon, too!
I am really impressed with your style and the patterns you use with your images. Do you just do these with pens/markers?
Seriously nice looking stuff, man!
Is that me?
These are brilliant, though. I'm tempted to nick the giraffe for my sig, if I may?
Thanks! I appreciate you guys checking it all out. Shorty, I use inks and a dip pen for drawin', much more fun than markers because you can splash it around and really go wild with it. If that's your thing. I dunno, I have always loved drawing with ink.. But I just recently bought some gouache, so maybe I should get round to trying some paints, too..
Nahh. It's not you, Harley darlin'. Do you have a sweet 'fro like that? Because if so, you got some radical style, man. It's Gil Scott-Heron that un. Also, 'course you can use the giraffe for a signature, I got no problem with that!
Here is another recent drawing,http://th01.deviantart.net/fs70/PRE/...es-d5ezyqt.jpgI'm slowly trickling them in post by post to keep you on your toes!
You draw hands pretty damn well. I've heard they're typically one of the hardest parts of a human to draw, so nice job. :D
EDIT: GIRAFFE! :jess:
These are all really good. Always digging psychedelic stuff! Was that last one a portrait or drawn from imagination? Either way, you clearly have a knack for human anatomy!
Thanks. :hattip: Pete, the last one is a portrait of the fantastic djembe player Babatunde Olatunji! and yeah, hands are a bit of a pain to get right which is why I did the first picture (which is actually the most recent). I thought I really needed to practise drawing lots of different hands and stuff, so that was a start or perhaps a long and strange obsession with hands and fingures...
This was my first commission drawinghttp://24.media.tumblr.com/tumblr_ma...563o1_1280.jpg which was a birthday present for someone. It's Tubby Hayes who I have never really listened to myself, but there you go.
Second commission I have been working on this afternoon!http://25.media.tumblr.com/tumblr_mb...563o1_1280.png
I have been drawing this, but the person who commissioned me has asked for "When did you leaven Heaven?" to be written in the picture, but my writing is terrible, so I am just trying to figure out a style of writing and background for this.
Excellent work! You have a very unique style that truly sets you apart. I especially like the shading and the way you use colour.
thanks, Rocket! I've been practising with watercolours and stuff, but eh. It is taking time! Plus, I get hesitant about approaching a picture I've drawn with watercolours in case I stuff it up. But then, I guess what the hell I've got to learn somehow.
today I drew a picture of a lionhttp://th07.deviantart.net/fs70/PRE/...es-d5ixnd3.jpg it's a kinda work in progress, and I was thinking of making something up for the background, or maybe just leaving it as it is...
and I was thinking the way I drew the mane would maybe work with blue/green ink to draw an ocean. So I might draw a sea monster picture or something.
dude smurfing awesome I don't even
Make Cair Paravel the background. :3
That lion is boss.
I demand more!
Thanks guys, I decided to keep the lion as it was with no background because it was for a friend's birthday present and I was kinda running out of time! :kakapo:
Here is somethinghttp://25.media.tumblr.com/tumblr_mc...o1_r2_1280.jpg I did earlier today, practising with colours! I'll maybe get some more of this done tonight but I really need to start work on some decorations and my costumeAttachment 37861 for an Alice in Wonderland party this weekend.
oh my god, she's so amazing ;-; I could seriously look at your art forever.
Do you do prints?
Haha, thanks, Shorty! I don't do prints yet, no, but I have been planning on setting up an etsy shop or something like that to get something on the go, it's an exciting idea! I just haven't had the money/am really unorganised so haven't started getting anything together yet. But I'm glad you are liking the drawings, I appreciate y'all checking them out. :)
Here is a picture of Betty Davis I have been drawing with finelinershttp://24.media.tumblr.com/tumblr_mc...563o1_1280.jpg
I also did a spooky edit, just for hallowe'en: Boo!http://25.media.tumblr.com/tumblr_mc...563o1_1280.png
>>> Nice, I like the Lion..:luca:
Thanks, black orb! Good to see you're kicking around this place still.
Here are 2/30 clocks I'm doing as decorations for the Alice in Wonderland party this weekend. They are taking a long, long timehttp://24.media.tumblr.com/tumblr_mc...563o1_1280.png time timeAttachment 37887
"I can't go back to yesterday because I was a different person then."
“Yes, that's it! Said the Hatter with a sigh, it's always tea time.”
There's going to be various quotes on the clocks (it's just a shame I don't have nice handwriting!)
All of the clocks are here: ding dong!http://beaulivres.tumblr.com/post/34...ecause-i-was-a
I remembered about Betty today, so have been drawing the background: yephttp://fc06.deviantart.net/fs71/f/20...es-d5l4m71.jpg It is quite difficult keeping the symmetry in balance so for the rest of the background I might just go off on one.
While I was drawing I had a play around on pixlr to make reflectionshttp://24.media.tumblr.com/tumblr_md...563o1_1280.png I'm not very used to different stuff you can do on these image editing softwares so I like to play around sometimes.
Some magnificent artworks right here mate.
I think the eccentric and (forgive me) 'child-like' style handwriting fits the context of the quotes perfectly.
I want to try and figure out whose hand that is but I'm not sure what the object is at the end of their wedding ring finger, can you tell me? I want those 10 points quite badly. :excited:
Hello, ScottNUMBERS! Thanks. :hattip:
HINT: The thing at the end of the ring finger is a metal slide for playing guitar!
Today I have been trying to get organised and I've made some mock-ups of t-shirtshttp://25.media.tumblr.com/tumblr_md...563o1_1280.png to get some rough ideas. The website I did the mock-ups on didn't allow downloading large images without subscribing to the site itself, so the pictures are a little small but ya get the idea! Now I've just got to find some good sites to get them printed. Incidentally, if any of you looking through here can recommend any sites that do that sort of thing, that would be great!
That hand belongs to Theodore Roosevelt Taylor.
Now, how many of these points does FENIX DOWN cost? I did a bad thing. :(
God I will probably buy at least one of those shirts, they're awesome bro.
Guess which one I'm gonna buy... ;)
ScottNUMBERS, you are correct. 10 points. But to what measures did you stretch to discover the information, what actions did you take that are tugging at your conscience?
Thanks, guys! I'm getting quotes on how much it's gonna be to set up screens for printing, so hopefully the shirts should be happening in a couple of weeks time!
This evening I drew a penguin
Cute! Will you draw a bearguin? For me? :D
I could probably do that for you, Rantzpantz. Although, you must know, I don't think any good will come of genetically combining animals to create these strangely adorable new creatures!
Today I drew the seahorse - the last two pictures are gifts for my girlfriend's younger twin sisters whose birthdays are tomorrow!
AAAAAH I LOVE THE SEAHORSE
Thanks, Shorty! :hattip:
I drew that strange bearguinhttp://24.media.tumblr.com/tumblr_md...7563o1_500.jpg creature for you, Rantz. I hope it turned out how you imagined.
That is fantastic. I love it so much. I want to hug it close to my heart.
I'm glad you like it. :)
Here's what I have drawn this evening:
Slothhttp://fc06.deviantart.net/fs71/f/20...es-d5lnt3e.png
Using a newspaper as a texture is a fun experiment! Digging that seahorse and the bearguin is awesome too.
Thanks :) I'm going to be using some old copies of books for drawing Christmas presents for a few people too, if I get the time. I like drawing in books - I'd like to do something like the Humument one day and use pictures to bring out a new story in an old book!
Today I had a little sketch and play around with watercolours. Gonna need to practise, but it was good to get a little more colour.
korahttp://th00.deviantart.net/fs71/PRE/...es-d5mcjpd.jpg
I was up practising more watercolours last night and started painting this picture of one of Fela Kuti's many wiveshttp://25.media.tumblr.com/tumblr_me...o1_r1_1280.png
Gorgeous!
Seconded!
Thanks. :)
I have drawn a beetlehttp://fc07.deviantart.net/fs71/f/20...es-d5mjene.png for a friend's tattoo design ideas.
tomorrow is my papa's birthday and I drew him an orangutanhttp://th00.deviantart.net/fs71/PRE/...es-d5mzswz.jpg
for my girlfriend's mum's birthday, she has asked me to draw a picture of her as a baby with her mum
it looks like this so farhttp://fc01.deviantart.net/fs70/f/20...es-d5n9xl1.jpg but tomorrow I gotta get round to doing some kind of background for it. maybe patterns...
also, I was playing around with printing things out in black and white on paper which I thought would look pretty cool. I'm gonna go scouting for some big old books to do this on properly. old books.
Really nice work, and great imagination XD and that hand was just freaking genius!
Love the orangutan! Did you paint the background?
Thanks! Pete, .he background for the orangutan was just ink painted on yeahh. And I'm glad you like the shirts, Rocket Edge! I managed to find a printers sorta online place, so I set up an online shop now. The designs couldn't match up exactly to those mock ups because of the available printing area on the shirts, but they look alright I think!
Just drew this for my friend's papa's christmas present: Nick Drakehttp://th02.deviantart.net/fs71/PRE/...es-d5p303n.jpg
Take care with some of those t-shirt sites. Some of them require that you hand over the copyrights to them. :-/
Futan - you are right about that! But I read up and I do retain the rights to the images that I upload through the site I'm using, so it's okay. And a great way to start up doing it without having to cover printing costs myself until I can eventually afford to take it all on my own!
This picture was a trade exchange - picture for a necklace, which was a lovely suggestion by the person who made the necklace for me. I wish I could pay for more things by just drawing something. It's been a bit busy over the christmas period and following weeks that I haven't drawn much, but getting back into it now!
it's an elephanthttp://th03.deviantart.net/fs70/PRE/...es-d5sarp7.jpg
Gorgeous patterns as always. Do you use a reference of any kind for the patterns or do you just make them up as you go along?
bawwww that elephant, I love it so much!
Saw the elephant on Deviantart, digging it. Did you draw the outline with or without an example?
It's been a while! There's a lot to catch up with when you move to a new country. With the patterns, I take my inspiration from mandalas and mehndi patterns and stuff like that, but the patterns emerge in the end by coincidence, trial and error. The longest part of the drawings is the preliminary pencil drawing before inking in, where there's lots of doodling around and rubbing out patterns that don't work. I used photos of elephants as references for the outline. :greenie:
Vancouver's Jimi Hendrix shrine have been running an event called Soul Power this weekend and had an open call for submissions of Hendrix inspired artwork so I submitted this:
Voodoo Childhttp://fc07.deviantart.net/fs71/i/20...es-d63vvua.jpg
Wow, that's awesome. I want a poster of that!
What the smurf, man. Do you do that trout with just a pen?
Your talent for patterns is simply stunning.
Very nifty! What did you draw those patterns with?
