Aw. You need to start it~. You can't be all "Let's talk about football. I refuse to comment on football." :P
It was bad. I was 12.
Can we go on now?
?
all the newbies suck
Technically I'm a newbie compared to most of you.
It's funny, I'm technically a veteran despite being years younger than most newbies. :D
Yeah, screw noobs.
I don't remember being new.
I was 18 and just out of High School. edczxcvbnm kept on telling me about this place. After a couple of months I decided to check it out and joined. I was used to a more lax forum, so I made a couple of newbie mistakes, but I quickly learned how this place worked and the rest is history!
I just really wanted some FMV help. There was a time where I posted exclusively in the Final Fantasy forums, as opposed to everywhere. If only I could bring myself to return to those glory days...
I was an awesome newbie. Just look at my Best Newbie Ciddie (Winter 2005). ;D
I just assume that we all just appear, and suddenly too.
I remember that EOFF had all of the soundtracks for the Final Fantasy games up. I was looking for 'The Mission' from Final Fantasy VIII and stumbled here. :)
Everyone's starting to blend together. Is this what the other fogies mean when they say you're all newbies?
My spelling and grammar were a lot worse. I was a lot more energetic and cheerful (not that I'm moody now, just mellowed) and whatnot. I remember the days fondly, I have to say. Every night, I would be chatting with Robb, Emma, Ashi, Squally and Sapphire. Just after that, Danni, Dan, Jewels, Rinoabella and Misty. Later the #eoff chatroom became pretty big. In the end, I would have the chatroom open and be chatting to about four or five other people at once on other chat systems. It was crazy, I don't think I could do that now. xD
I also remember emailing Cid whenever the site went down. xD You know, I guess I unintentionally got involved in staff things really quickly. I never really thought about it until now... in fact, now that I think about it, I changed EoFF avatar policy with my 14th post. o_o;
And yeah, I am very pleased with some of the members who have turned up recently. :D
Pretty sure I came here in 1999, but that the site was nuked and rebuilt in 2001 or something as I'm almost certain it wasn't 2001 like it says. And that the post counters have been reset at some point too, as I was pretty active here in the early Noughties :)
In '99 I'll have been 17. While everyone else was like, 12. So I've always been old :p
Memories.. mostly hanging out in IRC! Wasn't there a radio show or something, and little parties where we'd get together in IRC and listen in? Those were fun :) I think that's how I discovered OCRemix. I'm sure there was a pretty special party in there for an anniversary or something.. can't remember exactly though, memory is hazy (to be fair, I was probably drunk)
Yahoo! Voice Conferences were the best.
Should do them again. Except with whatever the kids are using these days for voice chats. :3
Skype and Yahoo! are the only two things that I know are good at voice chat. Although I'm not sure how Skype works with voice conferences, I can only guess that it's decent given voice/webcam chatting is what they specialise in.
I haven't had Y!M downloaded for years. Don't use my Yahoo! account much anyway.
I believe Skype does multiple person chats. I haven't used it for about 5 years for that purpose though. I shall investigate.
EDIT: Group calls are indeed possible. Excellent.
EDIT2: Video calls seem to be Premium Memberships only. Lame.
Not having to wear pants while I talk with you all is a bonus, not a detriment.
There is a catch to Skype - as soon as your group is over 25 users it stops allowing group calls. It kind of makes sense, because more than 25 people in a call would be chaos, but it's a pain if you have a fixed group that you keep adding people to as it means once it grows past 25 you have to add people to a separate group if they want to be in on a voice call.
Maybe we should organise something, but if we do, let's do it in a new thread. :)
It was a long time ago in a galaxy far, far away... The Summoner of Leviathan, Dking'squeen, and I were asked to stop spamming in one of the FF boards. We thought we were so cool.
I'm very very new, but planning on staying!
I love this place and I love you guys. I have so much love to give!!!
But I wonder when I will stop feeling like that, and become as bitter and mean as some of you awful lot
I'm joking, I think.
If I was truly bitter Lock, you think I'd spend my time writing articles, hosting events, and now looking through glitches here? :p We're all just old and grumpy.
Yeah, as you get older, you'll start becoming very jaded like the rest of us bastards. :P
I think I was nicer.
My niceness is kind of n shaped. When I started out I kept getting into some debates with some FFX fanboy (Braska Spira, or Tedius Zanarkundo or whatever for those that remember) and spent a long time telling him how trout that game was. I mean, I don't think it's trout now or anything, but it was fun to do it then.
Then I became nice but nobody on here noticed it.
Now I'm just an arsehole but really it's the only way I know how to show affection.
I was 14 and living on dialup. Oh the years, how you have passed! I remember the elections and stuff from back then. They were the beeknees. I'd log in at school and not do my work cause I was sneaky.
2005 member here and I still feel like a newbie.
I don't remember much about my newbie days. I remember I didn't post much for a while because it seemed like there were SO many people here that I didn't know and it was intimidating to me. Also back then I was hanging out on other forums, because other forums still existed back then.
If I had to guess I probably used a lot of obnoxious weeaboo smilies like =^____^= and whatnot. Let's not return to those days.
I don't remember. I'm sure I was some stupid annoying 14 year old.
I was your typical newbie, I guess. More usage of ^_^ and :D and :smash: and other emoticons in my posts though, and I was a little bit more outgoing with the members. Because I chatted with Cid so often was one of the reasons I was a CK. :D
NorthernFetusGhost dawww :aimkiss:
How can you say "fetus ghost" and not be sad?
OOC: no I will not stay on topic
cause I'm saying it about Juliebird so I will say it with glee.
I don't whether that should warm my heart or not.
Eyes on Join-Date-is-the-Only-Real-Measure-of-Your-Worth-as-a-Human-Being
Join Date has always been the most important method of measuring a person's worth.
Finally people are coming around to my way of thinking. Anyone who joined after 2002 is the online of equivalent of an embryo and should be abortable. However, I am gracious and therefore ok with most of you living, if only because I'm uncomfortable being around BoB without a large crowd.
I am going to knock your cane right out from underneath you, you old fogie.
If you go by join date, i'm older than Dak by a month and Pike by alike a year!
You know you're not a newbie when you quit posting in the gaming forums.
I ended up here from Unne's old FFI site when he launched a forum on it. Joined as chadmonkey, decided I wanted to be Flying Mullet instead so created a new (second) account, BoB almost banned me, I asked nicely and being the splendid chap he is he deleted my first account and let me stay. I'm sure I was annoying (well, actually I was, I read about myself in the CK forum) just like everyone else.
And that, as they say, is that.
Still can't believe I've put up with you lot for three years. ;)
As for my beginnings.... lets just say I was 17 and rather energetic.
I'm going to conform to the norm and say that I was (am? :p) probably annoying as hell. I mean, who doesn't think that about themselves at the age of 13?
Also Tedius Zanarkundo was the best.
A lot of the people who were active when I first joined are now not really active at all. I see a few names pop up here and there that I recognize from back then, but for the most part they're all gone.
I was way more ignorant to the ways of the internet back then. It use to be I would hang out in chat rooms or on online games and chat that way. I remember lurking this place for like a year before I finally joined. xD
Kikimm, Psychotic and Levian messed with me pretty bad when I first joined, but mostly Psychotic. There was this one time he told me he'd ban me if I picked up the mantle of a Prism Ranger.
Mulley and BoB were pretty awesome, though. xD
