It's so weird to me how many people complain about dirtiness when it comes to roommates. I've had so many friends rant to me about dishes staying in the sink for days, mold growing on trout, etc. Like, I'm a fairly messy person, but I'm not DIRTY. And when I lived with roommates, I tried my best to keep my trout in order. You know, rather than flinging my dirty clothes on the ground, I would pick up after myself, keep things tidy, even though that's really not my natural inclination. Because when you're living with people, you have to be more considerate, not less.
Are people really that dirty? And if so, aren't they at least a tiny bit self-aware enough to not act that way in front of other people? If you live by yourself, by all means, allow ants to come swallow up old pizza left to die on the kitchen table, but when you live with other people? Doesn't somes sort of embarrassment kick in?
