I'll admit I lol'd that 'Existential Risk' is now an actual thing. Oh you academics. Can't find an application for your degree? Start a think tank!

I saw it in a movie once there were robots that took over the Earth and made us all into batteries and forced us live in a computer world then one came back in time and said "where is sinead o'connor" and had a motorbike.

I think it was called "American Pie 3".

I think this a very serious risk, and I'll sleep more soundly at night knowing this.

Unless of course it's the robots have set up this institute to throw us off the scent!

Finally, a real use for science.

"Existential Risk" makes me think of a game of Risk played by philosophy majors.

If anything it would probably like A.I. where we freak out and think they're going to overtake us so we exterminate a lot of them to keep the robot population under control.
