In case you haven't been hanging about the forums lately, my name is Award Chocobo and I'm the host of a special event for the 25th Anniversary celebrations of Final Fantasy. Eyes on Final Fantasy will be hosting a special Ciddies event - for Final Fantasy!

And there's a prize up for grabs for members who participate, too! See the end of this post for details.

We've already finished the nomination stage of this event and now that we have the finalists, you can vote for who you want to win! (send your votes to me!). Posts made in this thread will not be counted, so definitely make sure you message me with them.

They will be gathering at the Opera House of FFVI, but as host of the event, I will keep you all posted on everything that goes on that evening. :)

We already have a few people at EoFF working on making this event very special, so all I need now is for you to send those votes my way via Mognet Message (aka Private Message). I am surprised that Death of Zack from FFVII:CC is not listed under "Best Moments". Next to Death of Aeris, it's the only moment when I cry for a hour during the ending credits. Really, it was an emotional moment and that deserves a Ciddie in my opinion. Oh well, no one else thought so.

Dr. Shantotto did recieve two nominations for one of the awards - Cutest Female, amusingly - however, 8 the eight finalists all received at least six nominations! Seriously, participation was awesome.

Warrior of Light was one nomination away from getting into Best Hero, and the same again for Most Influential Character. Garland was nominated for five different Ciddies, but not more than once for any of them. Both Invisible Woman and Arylon the Dancer were nominated for Best NPC. White Wizard got a nomination for Cutest Female, too. There might be more in there somewhere...

I voted for WoL for best hero! I'm surprised too...

If anyone is interested in helping BoB put together some pre-Ciddies banter/speeches (which will be read out by the award presenters, eg. Rinoa Heartilly will present the Best Villain award, etc.) for the 25th Anniversary Ciddies, please get in touch with BoB or myself ASAP.

Nah, it was simply that out of all 13+ soundtracks (hundreds and hundreds and hundreds of tracks), a song had to get at least three nominations to get to the finals. With only three nominations from each person allowed... I'm pretty sure I'd struggle to find someone else with the same top three FF songs. :p Too much choice leads to wide scattered votes with little overlap.

If it were only vocal pieces there would be a lot less not making it to the final, because there's only so many vocal tracks. Only half of the finalists are vocal tracks, so your theory does not hold up too well. :3

Well, it's possible some of the people who nominated thought best song would be only vocal pieces, but others didn't. In that case that would explain why half the pieces are vocal pieces when really, there aren't that many vocal pieces in Final Fantasy.

I highly recommend people do some speeches! It's more enjoyable than I anticipated. I've done three, and Award Chocobo really enjoyed them, so give it a shot!

Also, wtf at some of those "get together" nominations. Celes and Locke already are a couple. Edge and Rydia are pretty blatantly implied to be one as well, and Quina and Vivi are technically married :monster:

Voting, I'm not sure... it may be Thursday as I have a very large amount to plan out. Friday at the very latest. Assume Thursday for now, GMT, around 8pm.

The predictions, of course, can carry on after that if they want, but you're right in that it's probably best to close them earlier on.

FFVII spoilers (especially Aeris' death, which is an It Was His Sled-level spoiler) aren't anywhere near the same thing as FFXIII spoilers. The statute of limitations on FFVII has clearly passed, but FFXIII hasn't even been out for three years yet.

I'm having trouble voting for most annoying character. I have it worked down to two, but I don't want either of them to win anything.

I feel its fine to spoil her age since XIII's plot is so bad having it spoiled is more like a warning about the bulltrout of its writing than being something that will fundamentally ruin the game for you.

In less than ten hours, this number has shot up to 70 members voted already. There are currently ties in awards such as Best Heroine, Best Dialogue, MLT Get Killed off in a New Sequel and MLT Be Riding the Chocobo. Loads more are seperated by just one or two votes, so it's going to be a very close-fought affair on all but a handful of the awards!

The Final Fantasy XIII forum still lists spoilers as banned :monster:

As I said above, FFXIII hasn't even been out for three years yet. It came out in early 2010 (except in Japan, where it was late 2009).

Ooh, exciting. I'm quite looking forward to these results! My initial thought when I was doing my predictions was that I thought I could probably guess quite a few of them, but I suspect I've not done as well as I think and there's going to be quite a few surprises!
