When I visited my older sis in London last summer, I heard a guy asking antoher guy if he wanted to "smoke a fag". I got a little nervous, but then realized where I was.
Let's talk about how everybody agrees on the fact that British is a weird branch of English.
Teenager English is by far the strangest and saddest, tbh.
Fag=cig is indeed the strangest from them Brits.
I was shocked in chat the other week when I found out that Americans and Brits both didn't know what a wristy was.

But American English is closer to the English which evolved in the Renaissance and Early Modern period than British English is, which has deviated further in both spelling and pronunciation.
