There are about three brands that I actually like because they fit me well or make products exclusively and so I'm loyal to them, but all of this smurfing Gucci Chanel D&G Tori Birch trout just makes me sick and I don't understand it. I used to not get what the big deal about shoes was but I've begun collecting shoes in the past few months and now I'm a little bit addicted and running out of space to keep them.

Who's saying it has to be romantic and passionate? Some people just have rape fantasies and in yaoi, they can get that!
Yaoi is written for straight women by straight women and represents little of what actual gay relationships are like. In the end, they tend to objectify and oversimplify gay relationships to a degree.
Yes, it's a fantasy. I get that, but it's not emphasized enough that it doesn't represent any healthy relationships.
EDIT: They aren't portrayed as rapist and victim, though. These relationships are often portrayed as a pair of star-crossed lovers and an ideal romance to aspire to.
You only need to read thecloudyday89's blog entries to see how rapey Yaoi is.
