Firefly Recap - Episode III: Bushwhacked 5/18/13

Anytime a "let's watch this" thread gets made, it never gets followed through with because nobody can ever agree on a time that works for everyone and it sucks.

Who's down to do a recap of Firefly like how Game of Thrones is going? Watch the episodes as you can (once a week or something?) and discuss them and all the goodness of them as we go? Watch it at your own leisure so we don't have to bicker over times and trout, just come post in here to reminisce in the gloriousness of the best thing ever cancelled on tv when you're done with your episode.

Awkward can be fun. Nobody's comfortable here. I mean, for smurf's sake, we're all riding around inside Julian's cock
pit and it's not nearly as roomy in here as he implied.

Also, it's bumpy as all hell.

The noise had stirred her sleep, and for once it had been peaceful. No Reavers had etched inside of her brain and jumped out at her from all corners. She felt like a child with nightmares, never able to vocalise the pain she endured each night, whilst the others slept in their own bunks with dreams moderatley untouched by demonic faces and not being able to fight back because of the big chair that's strapped to your tensing muscles as you fear what's coming for you. The needle.

"Enough." She said as the voices that screamed, sang, yelled, spoke, and whispered got too much. She made her way forward to were her friends where. She plopped down into a squatting position, watching as some strange Mexican boy started peacocking his way around the Serenity - her home. At least for now. She knew it was only a matter of time until the Reavers or the Alliance caught up to this old boat, which quite frankly, was falling apart.

She sat in silence, only moving to drop her legs between the bars surrounding the ledge, she tried to push her head between them too, muttering "Too small, too big... too much silence and space in here.."

Then...

She licked the bar.

Her eyes darted around the room frantically in a cartoonish manner before she finally set her gaze upon Vivi22. He was wearing a a bloody stupid hat. She raised an arm between the bars and pointed a finger right him and spoke directly to him; "Jayne is a girls name." She then picked herself up and scampered off.

(I wanted Pike to be Kaylee. I really did)

I just watched the first episode, because I had to. Duh.

I just want to say that I am always amazed at how well Firefly is set up. The way everything is introduced in the first episode, and how there are little things that you don't really notice watching the first time around and you go back and watch and are like, hey, I recognize that!.
Like the Blue Sun poster behind Mal on Persephone. And the way Jayne deals with the fed. And reavers. And the subtle hints on the crews relationships with each other and how they end up playing out.

Dude, I'm not even disagreeing with you that she's a great character. I've said repeatedly that I don't know, as I'm hardly a fraction into the series, and what I've seen so far hasn't impressed me. Why the use Chinese or what they're saying? Because they curse in Chinese, so I don't think it would add a whole lot to know exactly what they're saying. It is funny as hell though. :p

I'm currently in the show Suburgatory, a show you should watch 100% because I'm in it. I play a shallow suburban dentist and I'm hilarious. You might also be remembering me from A Knight's Tale, or Death at a Funeral, or 3:10 to Yuma. I'm pretty well rounded really. That's why Zoe loves me.
