You Can Only Have Eight Characters

So, FFVI's cast is cut down to eight. Who do you keep? Who do you bump? Explain.

VII. Cyan
VIII. Shadow

All of these character have the most to do with plot and/or are more developed than the rest.

Gogo gets no love, I don't get it.

The rest of them are pretty standard picks cept maybe Mog and I don't know why anyone wouldn't want to keep the playable moogle.

A lot of people didn't know about the option to assign him skills. Once you do that he's a beast. (Especially when he mimics Umaro)

I pick Laddy's 8 for the same reason, though I could swap Setzer for Mog.

I think six Sabins, Gau and Cyan would be stellar!

If I can draft in General Leo, I'd bring him in for Relm ideally but, due to Ultros, I'd inevitably drop Shadow instead becuase, well, Ultros.

I think these characters would work best if the size of the cast was lowered.

I doubt that this would be the final roster of any game as it lacks the children and other necessary archetypes that the writers of Square Enix tend to find necessary these days.

1. Sabin - 8guy's a beast
2. Edgar - tools, they just dominate
3. Terra - great story, great set of skills
4. Shadow - he's a freakin ninja !
5. Celes - great story, great set of skills
6. Locke - stealing is bad, but so useful
7. Mog - kupo !
8. Cyan

I never really cared about Relm & Strago's story. Plus, poor fighting skills

Do I lose Crusader if I pick the eight dragons? :)

You mean to dismiss all but 8 cast memebers at the end? I'd keep Terra, Celes, Strago, Relm, Locke, Mog, Gau, and Shadow. I suppose you have to get Celes, Edgar, and Setzer to not fail Kefka's Tower.

Otherwise there could be plenty of topics about character variations.
