If this happens I will cry both tears of joy for a next-gen AC, and tears of sorrow because I don't really want, nor can I afford, a next-gen console right now.
Anyway, I think the Sony presentation is the one I'm most interested in. Not because I actually care that much about what they show and announce (though something cool from Naughty Dog could get my motor running), but because I think a lot of people's decisions of which console to buy could be decided with this one, and it will be interesting to see if Sony is able to capitalize on Microsoft's missteps. I really feel like if they've been paying attention and they're willing to go on record saying they're not going to do some of the stuff Microsoft is they could walk away with a pretty positive reaction here. Ironically it would be because of things they choose not to do rather than what they are actually doing.

I think there's a chance we could see some PS3 games they've been holding back in order to blow out on PS4 - The Last Guardian, Versus XIII and Agent specifically.
As far as price, $500 for each was my initial guess, because of Kinect and GDDR5. I did read something that Sony decided early on to go with GDDR5 and was only going to have 2 GB total, but the Durango leaks of 8GB coincided with GDDR5 becoming more commercially available, and their pipeline allowed them to crank up to 8GB relatively painlessly. If this is true, as with Pacther's estimation that it costs $279 for them to manufacture each machine, there may be a chance this thing is relatively cheap. That would be the biggest shocker.
Remember - they have to split this thing between PS4, PS3 and Vita. Most people are hoping Vita gets lumped in with PS4 because of the mandatory cross-play for every game, but I don't think that'll be the case. PlayStation Move will probably get thrown in as well, since at the PlayStation Meeting they showed they're clearly not done with it. So that's kinda 4 platforms and I could see this thing being a very sloppy, all-over-the-place press conference.
As far as games, I see this more of a showing of what's on the horizon, as their launch window is already set with a solid number of titles as it is. Naughty Dog, Santa Monica, and Media Molecule are definitely all showing games. We know Square Enix is there. When you add in PS3, Vita, and Move, that's not a lot of room left. I personally would like to hear more about the PC migration of SOE titles like Planetside 2 and Free to Play games like Blacklight coming to PS3. If they announced the next EverQuest as a cross-platform, free to play, AAA next-gen MMO, that would be a huge surprise.
I've already known about quite a few launch games I already want for some time. I'm already buying one of these things, I just want Sony to not screw it up royally. They have a tendancy to put on bittersweet shows, a lot of stuff I personally want, but sifted through a lot of eye-rolling stuff, like the Media Molecule segment at the PlayStation Meeting. You can't please everyone at these things, but hopefully they recognize that there's a very specific demographic watching and reading that they can if they target them properly.

To appease the masses, if Amazon is to be believed, game prices still at 60$.
That's the only one I saw at less than $100. And just as they price was said on the streams, Amazon emailed me the preorder link to the PS4. No joke. It's like destiny was calling me and spitting in my face... or Microsoft's. Whichever.
I AM a little concerned they mentioned nothing fully detailing the specs and hardware that you'll be receiving with that model. I'm sure we will see it in time, hopefully sooner than later.
Well, I can safely say that I've never been happier to have been wrong in my life. I'd completely understand if Tretton dropped the mic at the end of the conference.

Prices are listed at $100 to cover their asses due to their various "Can't be beat on price" policies etc, they'll come down to the real prices once things are more concrete.
Also don't talk trout about the Jaguar, it's a better console than the CD-i :colbert:

Kinda gutted about that mandatory subscription for online gaming, now I'll have to pay for online console gaming. Gutted. I do wonder where FFXIV will fit in with that, too, as they won't release on 360 because of the Xbox Live required subscription.
Pretty amused and pleased that our AF joke and the main alternative we discussed as an AF joke both ended up being announced as part of Sony's battering ram.

People chill out. I've been a PS+ member from the start (back in 2010). My sub runs into 2014 and IT IS THE BEST DEAL IN GAMING PERIOD!!
Sony and MS have to pay to run those online servers. It really isn't the end of the world and if you're an Xbot changing sides next-gen...you're already used to it, so why are you complaining?

Sony's best e3 that I can remember and it's not even over yet. I'll be getting my PS4 on release. I think the price is great considering it's a next gen console.
Also, hugely excited about KH3! About fecking time. As for FFXV, I thought it looked sweet but I just hope it keeps to its roots. It looked more like Assassins Creed gamepley than classic FF. We'll see. Still paranoid about the series after FFXIII.

Final Fantasy's roots involve constantly reinventing itself and innovating heavily to evolve the genre into something new. So, basically, it's roots are to let go of it's roots. ;) This is why I love the series - you don't end up playing the same old thing over and over. Sometimes it hits, sometimes it misses, but at least they try to shake things up unlike most major games in the industry.
Still, obviously they'll need to involve chocobos and stuff. I think things like the Iron Giant scene show that it most defintely still has the FF vibe.

Yeah well I'm all for the FF series reinventing itself but I was more having a gripe with was gameplay wise. Maybe i'm just scarred from XIII but because I was that disappointed with it I'm skeptical about XV. I think it looks great and everything but I'm not the biggest fan of action adventure games - just hope this resembles the gameplay of past FF's before XIII (XII ideally), and not as linear.

Relax there lad. I'm anything but a hater, just voicing my concerns (read above). I'm not a retro fanboy either. I just don't want FF to become a game that goes against the type of games that it used to produce.

EDIT: I should probably add though, that while I hate the idea of multiplayer being locked behind a subscription fee with every fiber of my being, PS+ is at least worth the fee for the other services it offers alone. I haven't had it since through first year they offered it but I definitely got more than my moneys worth at the time. It seems its only improved since. I'd be a lot more bothered paying for Xbox Live than PS+.

is it really a surprise it is the "Best looking Final Fantasy game EVAR!"??? It is on the most advanced system... meaningless statement. And you can not possible know NOW that this is "the best thing the Japanese side of SE has put out in a decade or more".
All you can say is that YOU think you will like it. I like Rocket will prefer not to go crazy over a tiny demo on a game that is 7 years old, and reserve there right to not be overly optimistic about it. Sure it looks like it could be good, but we don't know anything yet.

Only thing I'm a bit miffed about here is the addition of required PS+ subscriptions for going online to multiplay. However, AFAIK, it's cheaper than LIVE and has better stuff to go along with it, and XBone+LIVE is still like £100+ more expensive than PS4+PS+ (for one year of subscription).
Not that I game online very often. Buuut if everyone I know is crowding onto the PS4, then it might just be worth my time/cash. :3

This is just getting mean now. Not only do they have a cheaper accessory, but they HDD is swappable. As far as paying for the online, it's expected. There have been rumors for a while, but it now gives the people that have already been paying for PS+ a slight motivation to maintain it besides it already being an incredible service.
Gotta love being an early adopter.

That article also highlights that it's down to the publishers themselves to determine their used-game models. So it's possible that third-party games on the PS4 may have DRM similar to the forced one on XBONE.

True. Tretton's statement seems like it's really 'more of the same' vs forced DRM. XBox One is forced from the console. PS4 is basically a more powerful PS3... not much is changing in that aspect.

IT'S THE TEAM THAT MAKES KH, why are you expecting it to be anything other than a ARPG? Are you people waiting for some glorious FF6/FF7 return to turn based combat?
And as someone who bought all the major SE games over the past few years (FFXIII, XIII-2, XIV) and even their PSP offering right upto the end, I can say with confidence that they have set the bar LOW. Can't get much crappier then whats been sh*tted out so far. The Eidos division of their company has nothing but my sincerest respects.

And I do understand that "walking around town talking to people" isn't usually what one would put in a trailer. But I have to admit, had they had such a section in the FFXV trailer, I would have stood up an applauded.

I'm just happy the game's coming out, but I would go a step further than Skyblade. I don't want them to stop with giving us towns to walk around and talk in, because we shouldn't have to ask for that as RPG fans. I want them to give us more to do than fight monsters and talk to people. I still enjoy FFVII to this day because the characters are constantly doing different things, whether that's driving a motorcycle, running an excavation operation, or surviving an arctic expedition. It's the variety in gameplay that made JRPGs a special genre in the late 90s, to me, and would really make me ecstatic about this game.

No reason to buy a PS4 in Australia. Amazon has already said that if you pre-order through the US site, they'll ship the console to Australia for $15. Since the console will not be region-locked, you can purchase NA versions of the games. Even with shipping, you'll probably still come in under bloated Australian prices.

It is not backwards compatible, but they are looking into their Gaikai streaming service, which will (they hope) stream all previous generations of Sony video games.

I kind of feel like a company of Sony's character has no excuse not to have the illest possible emulators of their old systems.
