Animal Crossing: New Leaf

This thread totally should have appeared by now. I cannot be the only grown ass man playing this game. Just a thought.

So my time between work and socializing to actually play is a little sparse, but I've done some of the multiplayer events with friends online and locally. The island with all the minigames and medals, the contests, etc. I've seen a couple of little mentions here and there around the board while I successfully lurk the trout out of everything, but let's all fess up:

And then let's talk about it, because this game is seriously the cocaine of games.

Obviously one for me, and then one for my sister, and then one for a friend who had just bought a 3DS and had no games... and now you!~

So, in the new ACNL you get to play the Mayor. Tortimer's not dead though, so don't be all morbid about it. The game still sets you through the paces and makes you run the gauntlet, but there are so many more things open right from the very beginning. I'm absolutely adoring it so far, but I'm stubborn and refuse to "time travel" in order to get ahead. Fortunately, I have many friends who have no shame, and are already weeks ahead in the game. It's useful, because I've been able to access all kinds of things through them already! The multiplayer minigames are fun too - you get a whole island to ship off to and play together, fetching medals for successful outings together, and giving you unique items obtainable only from there. It's definitely a little different, but I love it. Can't wait to unlock KK's club.


edit: Ugh, I just realized that's $140 in copies of this single game. :3

I'm thinking of getting this game soon! I guess you can blame Tumblr and Villager's appearance in the new Smash Bros for this.

I actually have bought it as well, but I haven't played it yet. I accidentally had it shipped from Amazon to my parent's house. I'm grabbing it this weekend though, and it shall be glorious.

One of the things you can do once you earn your mayor's permit is issue an ordinance to make the town lively at night! I just did that tonight, and it'll go into effect tomorrow. Shops will be open later, villagers will be more active later, etc. Put a little daylight in and you'll be there in no time!

Do I have to wait til time passes cause i'm out of things to do in my town! No more oranges to sell! No fishies biting! And I have to wait til tomorrow for my house to be built :/

This game is thoroughly addicting and hard to put down. It was worth every penny. Now time to build up my town and make is sparkle... I mean, awesome. Yeah, awesome.

I do enjoy the fact that you can visit other players' towns and do all the same stuff you would do by yourself, like fish, dig, and catch bugs. Just seeing the differences in the towns is great.

Been playing my copy nearly every day since Launch. Initially, I started to build up my town and house like crazy, but now I am taking it easy doing other random stuff around town. Vastly improved over the other titles.

Bought this for Miriel as a present. She's afraid to start playing it because she knows she'll never stop.

I have this game, and I am vastly enjoying it.

My 3DS has been on Pacific time since San Francisco, so I kept it there - and have set my town for Night Owl ordinance, so my shops stay open until 2am Central Daylight Time (UTC-5) at the moment.

Proot is awesome he pays for boat fees.

...the smurf is going on? I'm hijacked as soon as walk into town, steal everyone's fruits and berries, started fishing and already put a down payment on a house before I even know what's really going on?

Am I to expect a similar level of "What's going on, oh god I've lost 6 hours to this game today. I'm late for work" situations going forward? It's pretty fun so far, but I don't know why...

For a bit of discussion too, how often do you boot up animal crossing, and what do you do when playing it?

i need to get a ds :(

I am on day 4 or 5. I have spent all my time tryig to catch all the fish and aquatic animals. I cannot escape.
