This isn't out in the UK until mid-July but it's out in the US now, so here's a thread. I'm looking forward to it, even if I can't see it being A-grade Pixar.

I wasn't over-the-moon for the first movie, but I'm definitely going to watch this one.
Given Toy Story 2 and 3 I see no reason to doubt Pixar's sequel-making abilities, and everything I've seen about MU looks awesome.
Cars 2
But 2/3 isn't bad. I'll definitely see this.
Monsters Inc. is my favorite Pixar movie because I was so astounded by the way they managed to tell a complete story in a self-contained location without fancy journeys or anything. I think the new one might be fun :)
I really wish they would've gone with a legitimate sequel instead of a prequel. I'll probably still watch it on DVD.
My son loves Monster Inc. I would love to give him this movie when it comes out. I might suggest my mom bring him to his first movie in the theatre. Is it in theatres now?
It's out now in the US, Australia and some of Europe, with more of Europe and the UK to follow in mid-July.
Something is wrong with you Hux. Cars was great. It wasn't their best offering but I enjoyed it a lot. :zombert:
Finally saw this movie and loved every minute of it. I read some reviews along the lines of "Oh you'll be checking your watch a lot, it's okay but not particularly engaging," and as a chronic watch-checker the exact opposite happened, I didn't want it to end.
Great flick. It's soooooo "university" too, haha.
My mom brought my son to go see it.
He did not like it.
That's probably because you're not going to get most of the jokes unless you're older. :p
He liked Monsters Inc a whole bunch.
He was apparently a fan of the popcorn too.
I want to see this!
Pike's description of this makes me want to see it, as I really didn't care much before.
Still think it would've been better to make a true sequel.
I love love LOVE Monster's Inc. It's one of my very favorite Pixar movies.
So knowing that, I tried to lower my expectations as much as possible when seeing Monster's University, because I didn't want my heart to break.
All in all, I liked it! It was funny and mostly made sense. I desperately wanted to see some sort of indication of Boo though, and it made me really sad that we didn't get that, but instead got that silly bit with the Snail monster at the end. Such a bummer.
I love you Boo!!
Anyway, I'd give it a solid B+ but it's definitely not one of Pixar's best.
I'd say it was second division Pixar, enjoyable and some great laughs ('I can't go back to jail!'), but definitely not in the league of their best stuff.
I was really pleased to see my favourite Monsters, Inc. character get a small cameo.
