Miqo'te all the way!
Roegadyn for life.
Roegadyn is the only acceptable answer.
I'm a white guy.
I played 1.x as a Dunesfolk Lalafell, but I'll be switching over to Seawolf Roegadyn when we can re-design our characters at official launch.
I'll probably be male Miqo'te like 70% of the new players.
I'll probably end up being a Hyur Midlander unless the character creation options on the other races can convince me otherwise because (other than Miqo'te) I'm not all that keen on any of their appearances that I've seen so far
Male Miqo'te due to character remaking.
Just so you know, KD, that means you're going to be inducted into Valerna's harem. xD She's very excited about the idea of collecting male Miqo'te.
I was thinking remaking my guy as a male Miqu'te too...
You three are gonna make her the happiest girl in Eorzea.
:D
Are Tarutaru or Lallifell or whatever they are still creepy looking?
Lalafell are actually much less childish in this game. They're short, but they're not the creepy adult-children things that they were before.
They are creepy enough to not make one. Still can't decide but... uh... Miqo'te, maybe.
I am totally keeping my catperson.
I wanna be a pussykitty! http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y17...llokitty04.gif
kitty girl
They instantly lose any creepy child-like appearance the moment you give them a moustache. My favourite Lalafell in FFXIV 1.x was the guy who did the Blacksmith (or was it Armourer? Or some kind of merge of the two?) questline. He was awesome. Big moustache and really bad hearing.
They're definitely no Elin's from TERA that's for sure.
I'm going to try and get her to start posting. :) She's a major player in Fat Chocobos, one of the people I would party with all the time in 1.x.
Miqo'te for sure! Though I do like the female Roegadyn designs, and so may play one as a swashbuckler. :3
Miqo'te Seeker of the Sun :)
Having played XI as a hume, I've decided to go male Mi'Qote this time around
I made a female Mi'Qote. They are just too cute to not play! I was impressed with the males this time around too.
I played a mithra in XI and loved it so I will likely make a miqo'te. Or maybe even a cute little lalafell.
Roe! Because their /happy emote will provide me with endless entertainment.
Female cat, regardless of how many others make them. Mine will just have to be the cutest. Although if I end up playing this weekend I'll try customization for all the races to see what I can cook up.
Male Mi'qote. I play a female one in the beta now, but I plan to marry my gf in-game eventually so I'll have to be a dude come release.
Unless they allow gay marriage!
I'm really diggin the look of the highlanders. I think that's what I want to play as.
Since playing as a Mithra currently on FFXI, the obvious choice will be a Miqo'te. Although, I'm still not entirely sure if that'll be as a male or female.
Thinking of Mioqte, lallafe, or midland hume. I would probably start as a conjurer. I want to lvl brd and archer, but I'm sure archer cost money at the start so I'm going to do conjurer first and earn gil till I have enough for lvl 15 for the brd requirement.
I'm allergic to cats and per se I hate them XD, but Miqo'te are so cool, I'm between them and Elezen.
Pretty much gonna have to be a Lalafell and my wife will have to be a Miqo'te. We're essentially just going to be reincarnations of our FFXI characters which we become so attached to.
Girl Miqo'te Seeker of the Sun.
Why would I want to look at a dude's butt most of the game?
Dang, everybody's Miqo'te.
I made myself a Lalafell Dunesfolk archer this morning. :D
Yup. I really am an alt-a-holic.
I have a female Miquote archer, Roe lancer, and Lalafell conjurer (I think I should have been the other mage, I'm not sure).
Then I have a male Midlander gladiator who is the embodiment of perfection, and is thus, named Gendry Fillion. Mostly to troll my best friend who hates Gendry. Only thing is I wish midlanders could get some of the highlander facial hair. I need a scruffy beard...but regardless, he is beautiful. XD
I think it's just that me and my wife took it a little too seriously and played a little too hardcore. In any other games I like a change of pace, but FFXI was our first MMO and one of her first games. We're super attached to our characters all these years later in an unnatural way. We blogged our day-to-day in FFXI.
Seriously, instead of picture of ourselves in our house, we actually have lots of pictures of our FFXI characters on special occasions like beating CoP and other big fight type stuff. For her birthday this year, my wife wanted a large collage frame full of pictures of us for her office.
Every other game, I couldn't care less about. I don't care about any of the max level characters I had in WoW. I think part of what made FFXI so electric is that you don't really have alts the same way. You can level all of your jobs on one character, so it fosters attachment.
So yeah, we pretty much have to hold over the legacy.
Currently Lala... But when we get the chance to re customize / change race... It'll be Male Mi'qote :) !
I've come to the realization that there are nothing but Mi'qote on the server. It's practically terrifying.
Yeah I might go with something else for my final character.
Exactly my thoughts. It's why I'm making multiple characters now to see what I'm looking to do for my final.
Val's gonna be gutted. ;)
I dunno, for me, in the long run, you should pick what makes you happy without giving two craps about how many other people might have it. So long as you enjoy it, that's what matters. But I know some people get easily bugged by such things.
Still, with only five races, you're basically going to run into a lot of people who are the same as you over time. At least you'll be able to change your hair after a while?
Five races, but 10 race/gender combinations.
Protip: Choose female roegadyn if you want to look unique. They don't look half bad if you just make the right choices, and then get used to her.
I do like the way the female roegadyns look, so I was actually planning on changing my main to that. Big thing about seeing so many of one race is that it gets very old, very quickly and becomes less immersive and fun for me.
Personally, if I could make a character that looks like this, then I'd be a happy man.
I love my Roeg chicka, she's a giant badass who wrecks things.
I'm probably going to make one of my characters a female roeg.
Before reading all those comments I made a female Roegadyn giant gladiator on the beta to test it out and she is beautiful! She will be my first alt for sure.
You people and your alts lol. I will be Manqo'te don't need other characters thanks to the job system, but I suppose its up to the player if they want 8 different cha's per server, I will be having my Epic Win character only for a mule in the future.
I named her Luv Truck.
Yeah, I don't really get having multiple characters either... one character to rule them all, I say. Everything else is just mule if anything.
What is a mule? Is it the same as a bank alt?
And people who don't have alts are weird.
A mule is a bank alt.
I guess it is? It's just another character who carries a lot of your stuff if it can't fit into your retainers, armoire, armoury chest, inventory and whatever other storage items we get. I had a packed inventory in the old game but in the current game I'm pretty much fine, so I expect most people won't have any real trouble managing their stuff.
Still, as a gatherer/crafter, I do look forward to additional storage. It's way easier than having to log out of one character, log in as another, deliver gear between, log back out, log back in, etc. I've only filled one bag so far with the new system but I've yet to get all of my stuff from the old game (you have to speak to an NPC and retrieve them one by one). The Armoury Chest is amazing when it comes to making life easier.
There's no real reason to have an alt in this game outside of storage and the storage is surprisingly generous due to the armoury chest allowing for 25 of each type of gear. I have armour for every one of my classes in that thing and it's not even close to full (weapons aside, I think I have 15-20 of them out of 25).
In the old game, I knew something like two people who had an alt they actually bothered with. xD One was just to have around as a White Mage in order to raise people should his entire party die. :D
Mostly for wanting to play something that looks different.
And having to level everything all over again? Man, and you guys call yourselves casual. I don't know if I could handle that kind of torture.
That's why you only level certain classes/jobs on certain ones :p It would be torture doing everything on everyone.
I understand how the system works, so far, but I do like having another character to play a little differently and see something else other than the same character. Leveling is normal when you end up playing games like Disgaea and grind for fun.
I would almost definitely have multiple characters because I can try out different races and also experience the storylines for the other 2 major starting points, rather than only knowing the Ul'dah point of view
The obvious advantage to having an alternate character is that you can choose to start in a different city, which ends up affecting the storyline a good deal, at least until you join a Grand Company. And being able to play as different races is fun, not to mention the stat differences of each race (negligible, I know, past a certain point).
Miqo'te. All the fun of anthropomorphism without the inconvenience of being called a furry!
I found out that you can make that elf race look like Dunmer from Elder Scrolls so I might make one of those instead.
Miqo'te it will be... :)
I honestly still can't decide if I'm going to keep my Lalafel from 1.0 or change him into a Roegadyn. >.<;
Roegadyn, man. Roegadyn.
Edit: Or you can roll a Lala and ride around on my shoulder.
Hmm! This character creator benchmark needs to come out sooner...
