The first movie was pretty good.
I haven't seen it in a really long time though.
Man. I smurfing love Toothless he is just my absolute fav and How To Train Your Dragon is probably my favourite movie ever and I'm so excited and Phil is definitely taking me to see this.

My mom loves the first one. I've only seen part of it. Might check this out :jess:

HTTYD is pretty much one of my biggest obsessions. I don't know why, Toothless totally reminds me of my doggy Magnum cos of how cute and silly he is. And I love the music and just.... it's just a perfect movie.
OMG hyped. :O !!!!!

Wtf did everyone on YouTube feel the need to say that Hiccup is now hot? >:|
Nope, not really.
Thought that the original was a little over-hyped.
Yep.
I think it's kind of creepy that people are getting their rocks off to a CGI character. :|
As soon as I saw the title of this thread I knew I was going to be taking Tara to see it on opening day, whether I wanted to or not.
I did really enjoy the first though, so I don't mind.
YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS
Well to be fair that's also creepy.
It's interesting that they chose to do a timeskip although perhaps part of it has to do with giving the TV series some room to breathe. I hope they'll address the stuff from the series (even if they're just off-hand references) to create proper continuity. The art with older Hiccup and Astrid looked nice. ;)
One of the biggest disappointments of the Oscars back then was how the score to the first HTTYD film lost to the abysmal score for The Social Network; then again, the Oscars have had weird stuff happening in them before as far as artistic merit goes. But at the very least the film score community and several moviegoers adored John Powell's HTTYD score which was like a breath of fresh air after so many stale scores which had shown up in recent films. I hope he gets to develop the themes introduced in the first film and adds new, equally memorable and beautiful themes to this new film. And if the orchestration and mixing is anywhere near the first film's music, many audiophiles will be in heaven while watching this film. :)
Trent Reznor deserved that Oscar, damn you! *shakes fist*
