Welcome members to the start of what is bound to be the best Karaoke Contest EoFF has ever seen! Over the next two weeks, I want you all to sing your hearts out for me and my team of judges, and your fellow forum goers to see who is the Top of EoFF Pops!

Over a series of musical rounds, hopefuls will be eliminated until only the best singer remains! It's all rather easy in fact.

For now, I am taking names to join in the contest, I want to see as many of you as possible to get involved, nothing to be shy about! We're all friends here and we want to hear you!


RULES/GENERAL COMMENTS

1. No auditions necessary! Anyone can join in!
2. You MUST have signed up in order to be involved in the contest, but if you didn't sign up and just want to sing a song that round, feel free - however it won't be judged.
3. If you miss a round, you're out!
4. You don't have to be an amazing singer to participate, rounds will be judged on both vocal ability and the entertainment factor too.
5. No cheating! No using auto-tune or other vocal enhancements in your entries.
6. Don't steal music! Don't enter someone else's work and try and pass it as your own, it's not fair and ruins the fun for everyone involved.

Sign ups will be open for 3 days only.

The first set of rounds will commence on Friday and run through to Sunday.

I can try to sing. Hopefully life doesn't get too busy for me to participate. More importantly, hopefully I can figure out some songs to sing. I'm not particularly good at singing and it's been a while since I've sung anything, so this should be fun, haha.

I should hopefully be able to squeeze in something for this contest. Count me in.

I have done a lot of singing the past few days, and it is bad. This contest is probably for the best since I actually used to be a decent vocalist. I need to practice more and build up my range again.

I recorded one good song. In falsetto. The rest is awful.

I changed the rules for this round since we only had a handful.

I haven't heard any. I heard part of "Royals", but stopped listening to it because I found it boring.

Vocaroo really isn't good for this kind of thing, tbh. Not that the quality of my recording is great, but it's probably better the way it is than if I recorded it on Vocaroo. Yeah vocaroo isn't so good for recording singing, I recorded on my laptop as well, then I uploaded to vocaroo, it didn't lose too much quality that way.

I did vocaroo just to try it out cuz I'd only used it like 1 time a while ago. The quality is terrible. By the time I got an entire recording, my voice was nearly blown and I was like "screw it. Not doing this again". And just sent it in as is.

It was hard to vote just because all of them were entertaining for one reason or another, I felt.

Also, an amusing anecdote I guess, my dog came running into my room as soon as I played Proto's both times I listened to it.

The pets must love my wrecking rendition considering the horrible quality of the recording. I'll provide a better recording next round.

It's ok Proto. My cat flips anytime she hears my daughter's voice on the pc. She rubs her face all over it and lays down on the keyböård.

For what it's worth, I'm pretty sure at that moment my dog didn't know there was actually someone in the house and was running in here for that reason.

This round is what I like to call a free round, in which you participants get to choose ANY song you wish, there is no list of selected songs.

That said, there is a theme again... This time, you must choose your own..... DISNEY SONG!

So while my two judges decide who is getting the boot, have a think about your song of choice for this round! I will be taking entries AFTER the elimination, and for only 48 hours after! Pick your Princess song, or villain song, and prepare to sing for your survival once more!!

The saddest part about this is that sometime ago I lost my instrumental tracks from when I performed in Beauty in the Beast. I'm pretty sure I had something like that to practice for when I performed in the musical in high school(not that I did much singing. I was the guy at the beginning that yelled "Marie! The baguettes! Hurry up!" Essentially, I was the most important part of the whole story.)

On that note, does it matter if we strictly stick with songs that appeared in the movies/shows/whatever, or could we use songs that were exclusive to the Broadway musicals?

I spent about fifteen minutes today putting together a horrible abomination. In it, I try to do different voices for different characters. I'm known among my friends for being the absolute w-orst at impressions. All my voices just sound like me, and even then, one character could sound different every time he or she sings/speaks. Also, me trying to do that ruined the singing. It also didn't help that it was a song I haven't heard in years.

All in all, it's a beautiful thing.

Hopefully, I'll have time tomorrow to do something that won't destroy your ears. Even if I do so, I'll probably share this one anyways just because. Get excited/be afraid for what's to come.

So, am I out or not? Do I get to sing or should I just go?

Dropbox is being a jerk and not letting me listen to Jinx's song. Oh well.

Loony Bob gets my first vote. This is partially because Be Prepared is one of my favorite Disney songs of all time, but I think he did a good job with the song as well. His voice kind of suits Scar, and the hyena parts were fun.

Pantz is my other favorite, but he is exempt. I'll give Noxy my other vote.

As a side note, just for fun I'm probably going to sing the song I wanted to do after I recorded On the Open Road. As it was, I only had fifteen minutes to put together the one I had and didn't really have time to attempt a different song. I'll probably sing it and post it tomorrow.

The reason I didn't do that one was because I came up with it after I had already done On The Open Road (which I chose purely because I thought it would be fun to try to do a song that has a bunch of different characters singing). Then I just didn't have time to record it before entries had to go in. I figured someone would appreciate the song still so I figured I'd sing it anyways despite it not counting for anything, haha.

Considering I both hate rap music (except in Girl Talk mash ups) and have never attempted to rap before, this is not going to be pretty.

Loony BoB needs to do karaoke forever and ever. I died of laughter at the very first thing you said because of the intonation you used. Also some how you managed to make Be Prepared sound dirty.

Side note I use to have a gym teacher who would break out in to Ice Ice Baby at random. She knew all the words by heart.

Oh man, I suck at rapping. I'm genuinely awful. BUT! I love doing it. This is going to be tricky. I may end up doing two songs (one as a bonus) because a couple of my preferred raps that I was hoping to do for this contest aren't on the list.

I took the approach to just do my rap immediately after waking up this morning in one take. It's awful and full of mistakes. What's worse is that even if I practiced for hours and kept trying to record, I guarantee it wouldn't be better.

All in all, it's a beautiful thing.

I have worked full time hours this week, been preparing for Christmas and we had server downtime. I can only stretch myself so far until I snap.

There's no need to get upset or rude, Locky. People appreciate the hand you've had in running events and contributing to the site - but it's been almost three weeks since your last post in this thread, so it's not surprising that people might be getting impatient, or at least curious if they've heard nothing from you as the host.

I mentioned in chat yesterday that I thought we may be having something of an event/participation burnout - in the last few weeks we've had Karaoke, Ciddies, Post Secret, the server move, Candy Canes, Secret Santa and the Christmas Card Exchange, EoFF's Anniversary, brainstorming around fundraising, the EoFF Timeline, and now we have people signing up for Eyes on You. It's a lot of activity for anyone to take on during a major holiday season, let alone volunteering to host two major events mostly by yourself that seem to have lingered on unfinished as a result.

It's great that members are so excited in participating, and it can be difficult for anyone to balance seeing things through to completion with having a life and dealing with other commitments. Everyone's time is important, but if people are actively contributing to an event that you are running, then you need to honour that. It doesn't take much effort to pop in and say "Sorry I'm tied up with things, but I haven't forgotten about this and we'll resume activity in a few days", or ask to delegate your responsibilities - and it doesn't take much on the other end to be a bit understanding that people have lives outside of EoFF, either.

While I agree it's good to know what the intentions are for restarting, sometimes asking what the intentions are for restarting is better than saying "Shouldn't you be doing this now?".

I guess what I'm trying to say is Merry Christmas! Let's just be happy and look forward to when it starts up again. :D
