HELLO AND WELCOME TO THE 2013 CHRISTMAS/HOLIDAY CARD EXCHANGE YEAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH.

Exhange cards! Art! Puns and other jokes! Quotations! Store-bought greetings! Any and everything to tell your fellow EoFFers that you care about them.

Here's the rules:

DEADLINE FOR SUBMISSION IS 12/08/2013 @ 2100 EST

I'll send addresses to participants the same evening.

1) The Ralph Wiggum Rule:


No one wants to feel this way, especially at Christmas time. If you don't want to send a card to every person that may possibly sign up, I discourage you from signing up. If you'd like to have some private exchanges, that's great! Organize them via PM. If you want to participate in the public exchange, then you participate with everyone included.

2) Please follow all laws and practices regarding sending things in the post. That means no threats or nasty messages. You do that, you can go to jail. And EoFF jail too. I'm one of the guards at EoFF jail. Also, sending small objects in envelopes can sometimes cause the envelopes to tear or be opened by sorters who can't identify the object. Make sure you use appropriate containers!

3) To participate in the exchange you'll send me your mailing address via PM. You can use your real name, your forum name, a nickname, and you can use your physical address or a PO Box. Just don't use addresses where you can't receive mail.

Also, if you're participating in the public exchange, don't send your address to anyone but me. I'll collect them and distribute them to everyone participating!

4) Please delete the list of addresses once you're done. There's no reason to keep them once they've served their purpose.

5) Crazy fun! Crazy fun you should have it! Yeah!

I've been anticipating this thread! Finally, I'll be participating this year.

Is there a general rule of thumb of stamps per envelope? I live in America and obviously it's just one stamp for the other members here. But internationally, i'm fuzzy on how many I should put on.

Won't submit my info quite yet. I'm trying to do the math on postage cost and see how many other people sign up as well so I know how much I'll be spending :)

Unfortunately, I can't even really afford postage right now. I would have possibly done this if I hadn't just spent my little bit of spare money on Final Fantasy XIV. This is a great thing, though!

All I know is, this makes me really want to watch Christmas Vacation again. I missed out on watching it last year around Christmas for the first time since I was a kid.

Oooh. I'm employed this year. I could do Christmas cards. Give me a few hours in a castle and I'll come back with my decision.

OOPS GOOD QUESTION, I'll update the first post. Also, I usually take my international stuff to the post office and have them print postage for me.

When in doubt just pull a Molly Weasley and cover the entire envelope except for the address.

Last year we did an imaginary Secret Santa. Formy ran it, and it was a really popular event. I think if you want to send members little gifts you can, but that's really expensive with added shipping costs, especially overseas.

Shipping overseas isn't that much if it's something small! I used to ship packages overseas for my etsy store all the time and it was only a couple of bucks.

Secret Santas are usually capped at $20, anyway. We could say $20 including shipping!

It'd be really neat!

I would totally ship someone some of my mom's fudge if I could know that it wouldn't get ruined in transit.

After visiting a castle, climbing a few hundred steps, I have decided that I will get involved with this. The cards will be from both Shaunas, because why not!

I would love to take part, but sadly realistically I don't think right now I can afford to buy 10+ cards and post most of them abroad. :(

The cards should be cheap. Just go to your equivalent of a dollar store and get a box. People who are buying individual expensive cards are doing it wrong.

The cards could be as cheap as the cost of paper, assuming you already own a writing tool of some kind. Not that I support cards, but I do loathe the card-selling industry.

Two years ago I did handmade cards that everyone loved, but I didn't plan them well! This year it will be storebought cards/cardstock with poor drawings and even poorer jokes.

I will cherish anything the beautiful foa gives me.

I think I still have that card around somewhere.

When I signed up for this, I intended to just buy store-bought cards, but now I am toying with the eye of creating handmade ones because I'm feeling creative lately!

Y'all are getting cheap cards from the pound shop. You'll be lucky if they don't disintegrate in the post.

So uh. How many stamps to get from the US to the UK?

I just used one but I went to the post office and they weighed it for me (to go to the US). The total of cards going to the US cost me just over £7 so around £1 each. Not sure of that in dollars

I see.

I also realized that I don't know where any post drop boxes are, so I am going to take all my cards to the post office tomorrow and send them all off.

Pant Leg Eater--Just go to the Post Office. There should be a sign with which kind of stamp you want. You'll definitely want an International stamp. Sending to Asia/Australia costs more than the UK/Europe, I believe. So, you should be good.

Just bought my cards! :D The weather is supposed to get bad again tomorrow, and then I work Wednesday-Friday, so I might get them out kind of late. I apologize for the lateness, guys, but they ARE coming.

Sometimes I wonder about the facial expressions of the mail man as he reads certain names.

I'm sure in the process of shipping and what not people just pay attention to the address, but I would like to see the reaction of someone viewing an envelope that's addressed to "Pant Leg Eater from the Bad World".

I addressed mine just as Pant leg eater as there wasn't room to put the whole name. I felt equal parts amusement and embarrassment when i took it to be priced at the post office.

I got my card from the Shaunas a couple of days ago. It made me smile and is being displayed with the rest of my cards in my study
