I do. Again, like in Dimensions and V, the sprites are redrawn by Kazuko Shibuya, so the original sprite artist for the game. I would still prefer a IVDS-style remake, but at least it's not the FFIV PSP squeaky spritework that I hated.
I could probably live with the backgrounds (Vector doesn't look too bad. The mountain is a bit too clean though so I'd have to see more), but those characters look awful. Don't like the colour and shading choices at all.
I'm not impressed. Many of the assets look like they've just been automatically upscaled. Not a lot of extra detail, like there is in for example FF1, 2 for PSP compared to FF Origins on PS1, and FF4 going from original/GBA to PSP.
Making the snow as white as that makes it looks like it's in the middle of day rather than night/dusk.

I have to say that the sprites look terrible to me, just like in every single other instance SE has tried to 'improve' the sprites for a more up to date platform. At least this is on a platform I will never every play, so I am not too disappointed.
The backgrounds look amazing. I wouldn't say the overall effect is perfect, especially with the character sprites, but I think on the whole I like it.
This Needs to come to both Vita and 3DS or heads will roll.
Those sprites are a disaster. They look like they're from a lazy mobile game, not Final Fantasy 6.

Very weak. FFVI deserves far better than this. Something closer to FFIV 3DS would have worked, or something even better, but this is just kinda insulting. Oh well, I'll buy it anyway, but I hope they get around to doing something more deserving for the best RPG of all time.
How is this insulting? Unless they put aside the resources for a true hd remake, a 2d remake is as good as we are going to get. Would you really be happy with a version that looked like the 3d version on DS? I wouldn't.Quote:

I actually liked the way FF 3 & 4 DS looked quite a bit, so I would be incredibly pleased if they went that way for FF6 (and 5, damnit!).

After IV DS came out in 2008 I thought FFVI would be out by 2010 for sure. But here after waiting 6 years, we're getting an FFVI remake only a tad different or even a lesser quality version than the original. FFIV DS is great, and my favorite version of FFIV, btw, so besides for a full blown PS4 remake I would have preferred a DS type FFVI.
Same here. Still, I like what was done with FFV for the iOS and looks like VI is going down the same road. I like how the sprites look like upscaled old-school sprites. They are stylistically consistent with the original, unlike the I, II and IV ones for the PSP.
But I can get upscaled old-school sprites by applying a filter in my emulator :(
Cant believe you guys don't like those sprites, I love them, I don't know whether or not I will buy the game or not (as I only have a crappy iPhone 4s) though when I get my new contract next year I plan on getting a Galaxy Note (insert latest model number here) I will most likely get it.

Agreed. The sprites look flat and without depth and shading. It looks like someone drew the outlines for the characters and then used the bucket option in paint to fill in all of the spaces.Quote:

This, FFVI was always a bit darker looking at least to me in areas in other games which helped convey the overall feel for world the characters lived in and what they were going through for me. not to mention that Wedge (it think that's him) looks eve more likely to fall off that cliff now then he ever did originally. People have already mentioned the sprites and I agree they look pretty bad. all in all I'll just stick to many PSX/SNES/ or GBA versions for the title.Quote:

yes, this does look terrible.
I know, I know...it sounds terrible but I know I'll also still have to give a try because it's FFVI. If it makes you feel better I can just pirate it to check it out. ;)
The wallet is the easiest way to get any company to open their eyes though.
Looks fine to me for the most part, I'd have to see more than just two images to have more of an opinion on it. I agree with the day/night botch, maybe that'll be something they fix later. I don't have an iOS nor have any interest to play games on cellphones so I won't be buying this either way.
I have not tried an FF on my Android tablet yet so I can't judge it, but I'm hoping it's an alright experience. My phone is too small to play anything but Dice with Buddies, and that's annoying enough. My tablet is bigger than my PSP though, so if I can play on that sucker I can't see how will matter, but screen tapping will be weird. I was hoping for something much much better, but I've played FFVI in all other formats and even if I'm disappointed it won't stop me from seeing how this one pans out.
