Sephiroth projects his consciousness into an arm or anything else from JENOVA, the body in general, clones his body with it by using shapeshift (he did the same to get the Black Materia when he trapped Nanaki in an illusional world and shapeshifted the body to a Tifa clone, acting like Nanaki's friend and JENOVA did the same to look like a Cetra) and runs around with it. He then retransforms it/a part of it to let JENOVA fight the others and runs around using the rest of it. Sephiroth can do the same thing with the cells JENOVA can, he projects his consciousness into multiple bodies to control them. Basically it is not even a real clone because it is a cloned body but as it is himself, his own original soul living inside the body (exactly what Bison from Street Fighter and the Emperor from Star Wars can do to be immortal, they transfer themselves, so their soul/consciousness into a new body) while he regenerates inside of the crater with his born body, it is always the real one, even with "JENOVA's body", so new body (shell), original and real Sephiroth (soul). Exactly what he does in Advent Children. Just not "real" as in "his own body" that he was born with, but who cares about that - we are the spirit. As Hojo explains, Sephiroth spreads himself/his consciousness - the same thing he does in Advent Children where he uses the consciousness of Kadaj, Loz and Yazoo, but lives inside of their soul with his own, just that the three were actually different people AND himself with that spiritual connection while he is himself, as long as he actively controls a body. That, so the crater moment, was the moment when they realized that they did not chase his normal body but that it was him controlling everything while meditating inside of the crater.
Sephiroth can actually also appear as a ghost like Aerith. He wanted to do that before he planned to materialize as Kadaj, Loz and Yazoo but at that time he forgot what he looked like so he needed to use the other bodies to read Cloud and the other's minds about his old body.
He got them from Bill's Bargain Body Barn in Wutai. Bill was an old mate of Sephiroth's from the war, and he had a huge mound of corpses leftover and set up a shop. Sephiroth got mate's rates - not content with killing Aeris, he also committed murder by slashing prices left, right and centre.
Its Reunion he is talking about probably. There are number of clones who are brainwashed with mako, and he wants too gather them to himself.. i think? :)
It doesn't bother me, story is not my main focus, but if you wish to look up enyclopedia, then source is right down the alley :)
Well, he plans to be the bad guy and you fight him later on in Northern Cavern.
That's it, this game usually relies on memory identity crisis.
PS: You don't need to read it all, or look to deep into it, too deep ruins the fun ;)
Have fun

You got it, that's the body you see in "Northern Cavern"
Bizarro?Sephiroth - The Final Fantasy Wiki has more Final Fantasy information than Cid could research
Safer?Sephiroth - The Final Fantasy Wiki has more Final Fantasy information than Cid could research
He has this body until you go to Northern Cavern, he doesn't change into the boss yet :)
He has this body til he goes ...
I really don't know what you mean.
Which "this" body? Sephiroth can control multiple bodies. The "new" body is a JENOVA shapeshifter body he controls. The "original body" he was born with is regenerating inside of the crater and summons Meteor. Once he does not need the other bodies, he uses his original body with is in a metamorphosis state, transforms into Rebirth Sephiroth, which is a cocoon of which Safer Sephiroth breaks out on the upper part and Safer Sephiroth, his One-Winged Angel form without legs, exactly like his body had no legs before transforming as well, but now with seven wings fights the heroes.
Here is the plot :)

That sums it up, have fun. I'm out :)

Looking too deep does not ruin the fun; this is a point we have disagreed with in other threads. The very existence of this thread, and a hundred others I have made just like it, are born of the desire to look closer, to see beneath the surface. And I'm having a smurfing whale of a time.
I can't imagine Sephiroth using those other clones as bodies. Aren't some of them supposed to be the hooded figures in Nibelheim? (Or was that just Nibelheim residents that had been experimented on too?) Possessing a broken, imperfect form like that seems pointless anyway; Cloud was a much better choice.
Oh, unless what member!Sephiroth is saying is that Sephiroth temporarily possesses them and then the body continues headed to the Reunion. Right? Man it's so confusing sometimes :exdee:
Sephiroth was not possessing the clones (now the "clones" which are just called "clones/copy/replica" but simply have JENONA S-/G-/A- cells injected). He just called them. Which is why Cloud even followed him subconsciously and not only because he wanted to. However as Cloud says Sephiroth would have no problem to use the clones. That's why he decided to get the Black Materia with Cait Sith's help.
Sephiroth is present in all of those bodies with his consciousness but in the clone (hooded men/Cloud) bodies only more subconsciously to lead them to the crater. He only uses JENOVA's body and his own body in a greater way. He can control the cells and does as he mind controls Cloud but he does not really wander around inside of them actively as he does with JENOVA's body.
"Possessing a broken, imperfect form like that seems pointless anyway; Cloud was a much better choice."
Fully using his own consciousness, so fully animating a body it would have been irrelevant. If it is Sephiroth himself living inside of a body he can use his powers as it comes from his will - his greatest power.
That makes a little more sense. Subconscious suggestion was an easier way to manipulate them anyway then.
Well, it is not like it makes a difference. If I can actually live inside more bodies and actively control them, which he can, then doing this or the subconscious (not his own, he talks to their subconsciousness) call to reunite/come to Sephiroth is not relevant anymore. He is too powerful at that point already. He's Mewtwo. The best experiment, way better than expected and a probem for everyone.
