Let's all play Final Fantasy XIII and XIII-2!

If you didn't know already, Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII comes out next month. In fact it comes out February 11th for NA fans, the 13th for AU and the 14th for EU. In preparation for the release we're going to play through the first two games! If you haven't played the games, this is the perfect time. If you haven't beat them, why not try again? Some of you have already played it though and beat it! Well, we have some challenges for those who would like them. But why should you do the challenges? For chocobos of course! If you complete a challenge then you can get a chocobo next to your username!

How will we know if you've actually done the challenge though? This is where you come in. You'll just have to show a screenshot or picture of your progress. Beginning, middle and end time stamps! So this can be a save file, or a screenshot of whatever the challenge pertains to. Heck you can just play the game and have fun! Just beating the game even gets you a chocobo! Chocobos for everyone! If you play that is.

It'll probably take more than a month though :x. I have a lot of games being played.

XIII and XIII-2 you can't get screenshots unless you have special equipment to do so probably, which is unfortunate. I'm going to use my cell phone camera probably. It is a bit more of a hassle just because things tend to be blurry and it's hard for it to look decent, but it can work for the purposes of this play through :D.

This is by far the most difficult challenge up there. How can one play without hearing Vanille's orgasms?

I'll play XIII-2 for this month. As good timing would have it, I started a new playthrough in December and haven't gotten past the first area as of yet, so I'm ready to go :cool:

Okay, some progress made. Finished Chapter 3, I think. I love the icey lake level. It's beautiful. I would play it over and over again.

I haven't used any Eidolons (I just got Shiva :P) and I won't but I'm not 100% sure how to capture that in photo.

Anyways, I assume I can level up my starter weapons and just not change for another weapon. If that's an issue, let me know. I haven't touched them yet.

Gonna purchase the all in one DLC bundle today which has a majority of the XIII-2 DLC for a discounted price. Looking forward to seeing some things for the first time!

Picture heavy adventure up through the beginning of Lake Bresha And so the story begins with people wearing these silly robes on a train:

Through the magic of snapping her fingers, Square's favorite heroine, Lightning, started hopping around the train, beating up soldiers. After generally showing how awesome she is, Lightning and her newfound friend with the frocobo get off the train and discuss how Lightning is an ex-SOLDIER. Rebels hijacking a train to fight the oppressive government, the "main" person once being a soldier for that government. Hmm...

Now we move to Snow. You can't see very well, but he's threatening to beat up this kid. That kid is very sad at how much of a bully Snow is.

Here, Snow just gave a machine gun to a kid. Vanille with a good should be all the evidence we need for better gun control laws.

Everyone decides to go chase down this Pulse Fal'Cie. Snow and Lightning to find Serah (Snow's fiance and Lightning's sister), Hope and Vanille to find Snow, and Sazh because he has nothing better to do. They succeed in finding Serah!

... but Serah turned to Crystal. Somewhere along the lines I meet the fal'Cie Anima and kick its butt. Everyone has visions and hallucinations after interacting with Anima.

To summarize my experience so far, i walked down a long hallway and kept pressing X while talking on #eoff until cutscenes happened. I will be doing less of that once battles actually start giving experience and I start caring a little more about them, haha.

Ya know I really like the intro in XIII. My biggest problem is that intro GOES TOO LONG. other than that, I like the whole train and escaping and l'cie and yeah.

I like the story aspect, but the gameplay at the intro leaves a lot to be desired. I just hate having battles that don't give experience or CP or whatever. Since I've already played the game before, it makes the beginning a bit more dull to go through again.

If I still had a 360 or ps3 I would join in! But alas I no longer have either.

I think I will start playing FFXIII-2 this weekend. I played FFXIII recently, and haven't played the sequel at all. Best idea.

i dnt think i can play this game..
ive played the first XIII till the end boss (wich i couldnt defeat).. im satisfied with that, i watched the final scene on youtube.
i have played the 2nd for an hour or 4 untill i got stuck.
the thought of running back through all the maps have made me unable to pick the game back up again..

im just afraid ill get stuck again

I have started FF13-2! I've so far played 4-5 hours. I am not attempting many challenges due to this being my first time playing it through, so I have already failed the no-monsters thing.

Playing again today. I am just dreading th boss fights.

Those were the best parts man.

I need to beat XIII-2 myself, I only got into the beginning of it. I just haven't had time!

I've been rather inactive on the forums this week. That's because I've been doing this Let's Play!

Just to let you all know, I'm still rockin that 480p. I've still got an "ancient" TV in my bedroom that has a big box on the back. Most of my goals are end game, so that's when I'll post more pictures.

For now, here's a picture with Snow in the Sunleth Waterscape during the first visit. The second picture is Noel's Sargatanas weapon glowing in the dark in the Bresha Ruins! I didn't know it did that, so I took a picture. I like wearing the different DLC outfits.

I will say this, Chapter 11 is friggin brutal. I have rage quit after losing three fights four times each.

I beat the game a few days ago! Clocked in around 66 hours. My end game monsters were Lightning (Commando), Snow (Sentinel) and Green Chocobo (Medic)

I completed the bestiary. Sort of. I fought one of every monster and have all their names (it's required for a fragment) but I do not have all of their information i.e. things you learn with scan or libra. I'll let you decide if that's a complete challenge or not.

I didn't finish up the coliseum. The only ones I couldn't beat are Ultros and Gilgamesh. They were just too hard for me, even with a maxed out Crystarium and clever paradigm use. Also, I have 29 of 31 achievements!

That's all I'll be playing of the game for now. I'm frustrated from my coliseum losses, haha. If there's a time in the future when I want to play XIII-2 but don't want to start a new game, I'll just come back and try to get these last few things i'm missing :)

does it count if i've beaten both games and only used Eidolons as required by the story but my old PS3 killed itself i don't have those saves anymore nor do i have pics? I just wanna know.

The goals within this Let's Play are only for save files that have been started within the past month or so. The idea being to play in anticipation of Lightning Returns February release :)

oh well then i'm nearly there again! I've been playing them again cause new system but new game too! lol
