Which will come out on top - the "Big Dog" or one of the underdogs?
Ooooooh this could be an interesting poll!
I've already committed... FFVII all the way, for me. I reckon it'll be close between VII and IX
My favourite PSX game is FF Tactics.
Excellent poll. VII takes it for me, but all three were great games.
Final Fantasy VII was always my favorite from that era, but VIII and IX are right behind it.
I'm interested to see if FFVIII can muster a decent following.
A following of VIII higher then zero would be indecent.
The Hot Dog.
VIII and by some margin. I enjoyed the other two but I found myself trying to get absorbed into the games at times, where I was completely hooked from start to finish with VIII.
Still remains my favourite game after 16 years is it now? :spin:
It's a draw between Final Fantasy IX and Final Fantasy VIII
But now reading this, I should of voted for Final Fantasy VIII

Final Fantasy VII was and still is my favorite, because that is my opinion.
VIII is close, but VII has been one of my favorite games for years now, and again I made this choice myself.
You know how in VII chocobos were represented by different colours and animations depending on how good they were? VII is a sprinting gold chocobo, IX is a sprinting black chocobo, VIII is that sick and awful looking yellow chocobo that can barely walk.
IX. IX is my favorite game ever.
I loved the hell out of VII at the time, but it hasn't stood up well over the years. Going back and playing it now, it just seems to have lost some of that original magic.
IX is a great game in its own right, but I prefer VIII's music.
FFIX is pretty swell.
Seeing how I've only actually played VII well...
Both VII and IX were masterpieces, but VII doesn't have Vivi Ornitier.
My list VII, VIII, IX.
That's right. I like VIII better than IX. In fact, it's almost a tie between VII and VIII for me. :colbert:
It is a tie. You spent over a year saying VIII was your favorite, and then after you saw me play VII it was VII that was your favorite, eventually it will switch back over.
VIII is way better than VII
What's that? I can't see the poll through this time kompression. I can play cards, though.

I liked VII the best out of those three, but I also loved IX very much.
VIII is the most fun to play.
VII is the most interesting.
IX has the sexiest FF girl (Kuja)
VII probably takes it though.
Final Fantasy Tactics. :colbert:
Followed by FFVII.
6, 4, and 1 are all main series games that were released on the playstation video game console and that i prefer to those listed in the poll
There are people who actually like FF1?
I didn't think that was a thing. You play FF1 for cred, not because it's a good game.
FFIX is the only one that could be considered exceptional so obviously that one. I look forward to skewering the people who say otherwise in the census this year.
It is exceptional that so storied a series could produce such an uninspired game.
This really is the trio that brings out the fangs in people.
CAN YOU FEEL IT
I can feel how I like FFI better than any of the series that came after it.
I also feel like voting VII over IX today.
Well, things aren't looking too good for VIII (my choice), but I've spent over two decades being in the "socially disenfranchised" camp. Not news to me.
What really surprises me is that more people seem to be choosing IX than VII? I thought VII was the holy grail of Final Fantasy, or so its rabid, snarling fans seem to purport. Where are you guys? Did you...gasp...grow into IX???
I still prefer VI, even though I can never ever play it again.
VII was the one with the rabid fanbase until about two or three years ago until it was promptly usurped by IX. I'm not sure how or why but over the last couple of years I've noticed suddenly everyone switching over to IX. So this result does not remotely surprise me.
FFVII was my first. It's also my favourite, followed by VIII and then IX.
As much as I dissagree with your opinion, I like the way you did that analogy.
I was always under the impression that FFVII had a "fads are bad" stigma attacthed to it for such a longer time than it apparrently was, and that it was more popular to hate FFVII as a statement or something, because it's apparrently documented fact that it is impossible to like something that is or was popular due to any other reason than being popular, it can't possibly be because you actually like it.
That's why I pointed out that I actually like FFVII, earlier.
Final Fantasy VII hasn't aged well imo, well Final Fantasy IX while not perfect holds up a bit smoother.
Final Fantasy VIII will most likely be forever the Marmite of the series.
[ if you idk what Marmite is it's a bread spread that people either despise or adore ]
These three are my top three FFs so I'd be happy with any outcome as long as they all get a fair amount of votes, but IX will always be my one true love <3
the fact that VII doesnt stand out with atleast 80% of the votes suprise me...
its normally a thing with VII
IT'S ALL TIED UP!
Oh my God... I can't stand it.
Someone has to win!
Final Fantasy IX is a really neat game.
Final Fantasy VIII is just so much fun to play.
But Final Fantasy VII left an impact that never faded.
Easily three of the best games I've ever played.
Can't vote on my phone but if I could it would be for VII. The combat is comparatively sluggish in the others.
Get on a computer and vote!
This poll will once and for all decide which is the best and I need to be right in order to feel important and act all sanctimonious... and to be able to sleep at night. Do you want to be the new cause of my insomnia, Bolivar? Hmm?? HMM?!!!!
ninja-editing the thread title after someone has exploited your use of inaccurate language is cheating.
I refuse to vote. If I were to vote for Final Fantasy VII, that would imply I thought the others stood a chance. Which is an insult because VII wipes the floor with them. :smug:
VII wins again, because it is superior.
Musta been those limit breaks.
I hail our pointy-haired overlords!
You know, Bubba, I actually took the last few days to think about this and:

(SPOILER)jk, obviously VII's winning because it wipes the floor with those games :D
Final Fantasy IX, admittedly, didn't really offer very much that was new to the series. It's a little formulaic, and much of it is comprised of rehashed bits from older games, whereas VII and VIII were more innovative. These reasons are part of why I love the game, though. It's a love letter to a series that I love, so naturally I'm going to love the love letter itself.
Is that it then? Did FFVII win?
Looks like FFVII won! It was a close race, however!
Cloud strife was a pretty good game, but I spend more time playing Tifa.
I wish I could play Tifa all night long
(VII was probably objectively the best one out of the three best FFVIII holds a special place in my heart. Maybe I'm A Lion. Man With The Machine Gun. Renzokuken. Hot dogs.)
VII was always my favourite when I was younger, but through the years and after playing through each of the three multiple times, IX wins it for me.
Same here, I voted for IX.
FFVII was the first FF I ever played so I think it become my favourite by default (it is a very good game). But IX...there's something special about IX. After the super seriousness of VII and VIII it was nice to have some fun! Love the characters, the art style (its aged pretty well), the battle system and the fact that there was so much to do. Minigames like Chocobo Hot & Cold, Tetra Master (my favourite FF card game, didn't like FFVIII's Triple Triad), skipping in Alexandria etc xD
FFIX was a fairy tale and it put the "Fantasy" back in to FF ^^
like they even have to ask :choc2:
FFIX definitely!
The opening scene to this game was actually my introduction to the Final Fantasy franchise wayyyyy back in the early 2000's, so I fell in love with the game right off the bat. I thought FFVII was an amazing game, and FFVIII was memorable as well, but I can't help but view FFIX as one of my favorites of all time.
