Neo Plays - Illusions of Gaia

I am considering doing Chrono Cross next, as this game is will probably not take me to long
too complete, and all things considered it should be pretty short updates considering the small
amount of text the game actually has. :p

Some fun tidbits to know about this game before I start, so everyone knows a few of the games basics.

1) There are a limited number of healing items.
2) Most things in this game are in fact miss able.
3) Stats are raised by killing every monster in a room. Monsters re-spawn, bonus's are only reap-able once.
4) Limited Inventory space. Drop an Item? Gone for good.

Lufia II, Shining Force II, and now Illusion of Gaia. All sequels. I want to see the originals.

I enjoy them anyways. Sometimes its fun to do it that way and then go back and see the originals and be like "omg I GET THAT NOW" while obnoxiously poking your roommate who doesn't really care

I don't really mind either, except I really want a Let's Play of Soul Blazer, because I actually like it better than Illusion of Gaia, even if Illusion of Gaia is a critically praised cult classic. I'm sick of Soul Blazer being ignored, even though it's a great game. And I can't do one myself, because my upcoming schedule is full. There's a lot of Pokémon XD left (currently stuck getting boss fight video recorded/uploaded), and after that, I'm going to try to find someone to do a co-op Let's Play with me. I want them to run Shining Force while I run Shining Force: Resurrection of the Dark Dragon. Highlight a fantastic game and a completely ruined remake all at once.

Still, Soul Blazer is awesome, and Illusion of Gaia gets all the love. :crying:

Replay to Skyblade, no real spoilers here.Eh, Soul Blazer is boring, and to be honest there's a pretty distinct lack of connectivity from game to game. Complaining about not doing a let's play of Soul Blazer first is like complaining about their being a lets play of FF 2 without first doing one of 1.

Also, not every one is going to plan to do multiple games, so you pick the one you'll have more fun with, alla Lufia 2 over 1. (And the odd note Lufia 2 is a prequal anyway, and if you do Lufia 1 first it starts with the end of Lufia 2, so that's all sorts of odd right there. :p)

Also, Gaia is my favorite of the three. (Even if Terranigma may technically be the best made, but that's another story entirely. :p)

I'd like to point out that Will does all his fighting with his flute, and yet he can fight everything in the game by himself, as that flute tears enemies up.

But the game gives you the ability to transform into Freedan anyway. He uses a sword, doing double Will's damage. It also increases his range. He can also take more hits. He also runs faster. He also gets special moves which add a ton of extra utility like AOE, projectiles, and greater damage.

Freedan is completely broken and overpowered, and you just don't care because he's completely awesome.

This is true. It moves pretty quickly, and it is deep enough that it can be very overwhelming. Especially early on. I find it easier to track things once we start actively travelling, but it can still be a lot to process.

Recap for ShionPrincess ran away from home, and because she was found at my house, they thought I had the ring she took. I didn't and got locked in a prison my Grandpa Bill originally built. The voice of my missing father spoke to me through the flute, and asked me to seek out the ancient relic. I escape from prison with the help of Lily, a girl from my mother and grand mothers village.

Me and Kara escape from the castle, only to find out my grandparents escaped back to Lily's village, Itori Village, and Lily showed us the way their. At the village, the Elder Flower Spirit says my mother created the barrier that
shielded the town, and told me it was prophisized by her I would show up in search of the Mystic Statues. He helps me by giving me an Incan artifact, and directs me to the Moon tribe.

The Moon Tribe are people bathed in the comets light and their spirits live on for eternity it would seem. The comet apparently comes every 400 years, though for what reason is currently unknown. I enter the ruins in search of the mystic
statue after receiving a second statue from the Moon Tribe. :p

Some for real notes on the game.I really love seeing both the Incan ship in all it's glory, and then suddenly flashing to realize the actual boat is in tatters and ruins. That is some glorious imagery right there. It's also rather interesting that the spirits of the Incan's remained to cast the ship off.

And that demon guy I find to be one of, if not the, most challenging fight in this game. :p

Few notes on this bit
You know, I still don't' like Kara, but as far as contrivances go for building a relationship in most games, at least this one is feasible. Kara being forced to drop some of her princessy ways due to the extreme conditions she's placed in, and two people being forced to spend so much of a life threatening situation together is a good way to start to form a bond.

Short version, the light of the comet began turning the people of Mu into monsters. With no way to build a boat, many tried digging a tunnel beneath the ocean to escape. The remaining spirits are those who stayed behind. :cry:

Alright, because I don't really have any commentary for the next stretch of the game, basically I travel through the tunnel for alike, two months, the monster that Ate Seth has sort of absorbed his consciousness and he talks to me about nothing all that important before leaving, the ancestors of the Mu Tribe were underground digging for so long they are hurt by the light and make up the current Angel Tribe, some guy traps Kara in a painting for some reason and I save her, and I head off to Watermia!

This is just... not a very good or important portion of the game. :p

This whole game has an underlying theme about why taking women on adventures smurfs everything up. SETH DIDN'T DESERVE TO GET EATEN BY A FISH YOU GOLD DIGGING WHORE.

Mt. Kress is the worst level in any video game ever.

I know it's only been one month, and you were going through the tunnel for two, but something has to be happening! :D
