I imagine most people here will name a Final Fantasy game - but was another SE or Square game actually your first?
Mine was Super Mario RPG! :3: It was also the first RPG I ever played (for more than about five minutes, anyway).

I believe it was FFI. I say it like that because there were a ton of random PC/Apple games I played in computer lab that could've been made by Square.
Brave Fencer Musashi
Final Fantasy.
Final Fantasy VII. My brother rented it from Blockbuster and I watched him play before dabbling in it myself. I didn't know what Final Fantasy, RPGs, or Square Soft was until I played that game.
It was either Super Mario RPG, Ogre Battle: March of the Black Queen, or Chrono Trigger.
I'm a bit fuzzy over which one came first.
Final Fantasy IV.
Same as first FF game. Very briefly VIII followed by IX
I believe it was Final Fantasy VI (or III, on the SNES). Chrono Trigger and Super Mario RPG likely followed soon after. When I was a kid I rented games a lot more, and owned fewer.
Pretty sure it was FF1.
Final fantasy legend for gameboy. I only got it because I lost my other gameboy game (teenage mutant ninja turtles). Changed my life forever.
I should have added FF IV was my first, those were my first non-square or enix games. :p
Wait. I may have played Dragon Warrior before I played FFIV. I honestly can't remember.
Depends on how you look at the company.
If we are going to start from when Squaresoft and Enix were separate, then my first was the original Final Fantasy.
If we are going to look at the entire Squaresoft and Enix library because of the Square-Enix merger, then my first was the original Dragon Quest.
Final Fantasy VII.
Mine was Final Fantasy VII because it came out when I was old enough to cognitively follow any plot whatsoever.
Mine was FFVII.
I can't really remember much about it. I seem to remember it involved some sort of unpaid electric bill, some hair gel and some guy that was ill. God knows what that load of bollocks was about.
First Square Game: Final Fantasy VII
First Enix Game: E.V.O.: Search for Eden
First Square Enix Game: Kingdom Hearts: Chain of Memories
FFVII
From what I remember, Final Fantasy VII.
I honestly cannot remember. Ogre Battle? Chrono Trigger? Final Fantasy VII? It was a game. Made by Square. I can even tell you about when I played it, it was about the time FFVII was out. I was actually pretty late coming to Square, largely because I didn't have an SNES growing up. But I was playing so many fantastic games at that time that I have no clue which I played first.
It would have to be Final Fantasy VIII. It was a lot more recently when I started playing the older FFs and some of their other stuff.
First would be ActRaiser, by Enix. Otherwise it'd be FFVII by Square.
after the merge it'd be crystal chronicles.
Thanks for the Actraiser mention, Levian, because that reminds me that it's possible that Soul Blazer was my first as well. Seriously, too many good games by Square and Enix that I played back when I first discovered them.
FFIV. Didn't know what the smurf was going on and all four saves were in the Sealed Cave.
Final Fantasy VII for me, which was my first Final Fantasy. I think my first non-FF game would've been either Seiken Densetsu 3 or Chrono Trigger (I think it was the former).
My first Square Enix game would have been Final Fantasy X-2.
I played Secret of Mana (badly) on the SNES at my cousin's house when I barely understood what buttons did. After that I think it was the FFVIII we rented from BlockBuster which didnt work past Dollet.
I watched my cousin play Final Fantasy IV on SNES (as FF2). Later, when I read about Final Fantasy VII in Tips and Tricks magazine and rented it, I did not make the connection (I had completely forgotten about Final Fantasy and didn't even realize until renting it that Final Fantasy was the name of the game, I thought it was just the name of the magazine article). But I instantly fell in love with Squaresoft.
my first Squaresoft game was Chrono Trigger, before that i avoided the Final Fantasy games because i played Phantasy Star first and thought it was dumb how the FF characters stood on opposite sides of the field waving their weapons at each other when in Phantasy Star 2-4 they ran right up to the monsters and attacked them... i saw the combat system in Chrono Trigger shortly after it came out and instantly had to play it and, retroactively decided to play the older FF titles i passed up on before when i realized how good Squaresoft stories could be...
Dragon Warrior.
Final Fantasy.
clo, I love the cats in space picture! my first experience with Square was probably Mario RPG.
Hmm I think my first one was FFVIII and I hate it still. Unlike most people who love their first played game first.
The first one I remember seeing was FFVII, while the first I played was FFVI. Fun times.
First Square game was Secret of Mana
First Enix game was E.V.O.
First Squenix games Final Fantasy X-2
First Square was probably FFX.
First Enix was probably Dragon Quest 7.
First Squeenix was probably Kingdom Hearts.
