The EyesonFF NBA Team (an NBA 2k13 Playthrough) - GAME 1

Bear with me guys, this should be a lot of fun! I've just reinstalled NBA 2k13 on my computer, and I figure that it'd be fun to make an EyesonFF themed NBA team (we can customize a lot of things like jerseys and team name but more on that later), then I'll get all the willing members and make their highly paid, much taller, high flying counterparts in the game. I'll put them all on to the EyesonFF team, set up an association mode and then trade them all for better players and see how many seasons it takes us to work our way to the end of the Playoffs and win it all!

The game has a pretty good instant replay feature (sometimes a bit buggy on the PC version though) so there will be screenshots galore from plenty of EXCITING ANGLES; be amazed as you watch your favourite eyes on members dunking all over the place, and your least favourite members being charged into by much bigger athletes. We also have a myriad of stats and intricacies that I'll keep you all updated on so you can see exactly how well your player is doing, whinge about how much play time you're getting (god knows they do in the game), see if your player is happy with the team or, god forbid, demanding to be traded!

So assuming that you are interested this is the way I want to go about it. Instead of the usual fare of "name, age, appearance, position etc." I've prepared a little questionnaire for you all, answer as seriously or stupidly as you want, it's up to you. From your answers I will try to figure out what position and play style you would be. That said, I am happy for you guys to dictate how your player will look, but be warned that despite a seemingly large amount of options in the character creator, every person's face just comes out looking pretty much the same.

Anyway, after you have filled out the questionnaire below you can post it in this thread, PM it to me if you're embarrassed about your terrible answers, or write it by hand and mail it if you're going for that extra touch of class. We'll need about 8 sign ups for a proper rotation, but I think I can have as many as 11 (or maybe 13), I dunno how popular this will really be though. To the ladies, I am sorry but with no WNBA integration into the game I can't actually make a female character model but you shouldn't let that be a deterrent, either give a serious appearance and I'll get it as close as possible (Like I said, there ARE a lot of features to the character creator and I can make a fairly feminine looking player for you) or go wild and ask to be a very ripped African-American, ala every Let's Play that has involved Ronnie Coleman. After I have enough sign ups I'll come at you with the options for creating our team and leave it up to the whole group to decide on our colours, logo and team name.

Finally, I would just say that even if you don't watch, enjoy or even understand the game of Basketball that you give this a go, because you may be surprised how into it you get when your player hits a game winning shot or drops 30 points and leads us to a win in the playoffs.

Don't worry Shion, by the time we're done with this you'll be an aficionado! Just a couple of notes on your entry, which are good general points that I probably forgot to mention. In the appearance there is no need to put your size and weight. While there is a chance you will end up as one of the smaller players on the court if I put us as our actual heights we would get creamed. Your size will be adjusted to match your position on the court, so while there's no harm in putting it down under appearance it won't be take into consideration, as your position is decided by your answers to the questionnaire :D

Today is the day guys, I'll be starting this up as soon as Loony BooB releases me from his clutches and I get back to my laptop. Turnout has been awesome so far and we definitely have enough for a solid rotation of players. But there is still plenty of room on the team so more people should definitely sign up!

That said, I think now is a good time to get started on our first task as a team... Picking a GLORIOUS TEAM NAME, with a fabulous logo, and just plain old colours.

So yeah, I won't drag it out too long cause I'm really itching to start this up, but everyone just start throwing names for a team out there and we can see what comes up. 'Eyeson' will most likely be the city name, but we need something to tack on to that like Eyeson Chocobos, Eyeson Nerds or Eyeson Iceglows (cause we smash everyone).

Sorry for the groups of posts together but I wanted the above post to be separate. No game tonight, creating all those players, plus the team, getting the screenshots and then doing the post took much longer than anticipated. I'll get our association started up by tomorrow though and then you guys can see all the extras like our away jerseys, and maybe a more in depth breakdown of the player's stats and who is good at what (everyone is 80 overall with very high potential, which means we'll probably suck for a while but should get better as the season progresses). Also, we still have 5 available slots for people to join the team as well, but once I create the association mode we will not be able to add any others so post in here ASAP if you're still wanting to join up.

Hey, so long my character gives Phil a surprisingly nice feeling in his special place, he can make me look like Bruce Lee and Jackie Chan's lovechild.

So I made everything again, made sure it saved this bloody time, and played through an exhibition match against another team. I'll probably do a few of those so I can get used to the team and also get everyone's perspective on how they'd like the updates.

This time around I did it mostly with instant replay videos, the only real problem is that they're quite large so I'm toying with compressing them to make it less of an ordeal to upload them all. Here's one snippet while I wait for the others to upload.

That is but one of the many pre-game workouts I have Ronnie doing ;)

Couple more videos from our first game, these are just recorded with the instant replay feature which is why they're eerily quiet. I'll mention that we actually lost this game, but I think a lot of it has to do with my rustiness playing 2K13. The team itself is pretty good, we have an average offense that's definitely able to keep up in games and with Vivi and Ronnie being so athletic we are beasts on the fastbreak. The defense is definitely our strong point, especially when we have Bert on at the point guard position. I would say our biggest problem is rebounding though, too many times we got out-muscled and gave up offensive rebounds. I think it's because both Psy and Destroyah are offensively stacked and not good rebounders for their position, so unless I put on both centers we're at a disadvantage on the glass. I am also playing on a hard difficulty because otherwise the scoring is unrealistic and the games are easy and boring.

My favourite play from the game. Ashton comes up and sets the screen for Locky who rounds the corner and makes the beautiful pass to Ronnie. I feel sorry for the Timberwolves player who comes up to try and stop him.

This is so incredibly awesome! Phil, check out overwolf, it's free and you could record the entire game with it instead of evil fraps wanting you to pay to record more. Oh and load videos to youtube right from it.

Sorry the updates have slowed down. I'm still practicing with the team and now I'll try out this new capture program and see how it goes. I want to make sure everything is set up perfectly before I start the association mode because it's harder to change things once it's started up. Should be into the thick of things in the next day or so!

Hey guys! I may have been sucked into the bottomless black hole that is Final Fantasy XIV but I have not forgotten about this and have every intention of starting and seeing it through. I've downloaded overwolf (thanks again for the tip, Bert), and ideally I'm hoping to have some smallish, edited highlights videos of each game (or at least the more interesting ones) once the season gets started. I'll mess about with some video editing, and see what size the videos are coming out to and take it from there.

Okay, quick update! The Eyeson Chocobos season officially kicked off today. We had a couple of personal training sessions first up and although I have video of these they are pretty boring so I probably won't post them. They were not particularly successful except for Locky's 'one on one defense' training, which saw her get a few points toward her steal, block and defensive awareness ratings, and also made her the first player to reach 81 overall (she's still on the bench though because Bert's defense is too valuable in our starting lineup).

We also played our season opener against the Cleveland Cavaliers. That's all I will say for now, you will be able to find out the scores, stats and more as soon as I get the videos edited and uploaded (which could take a while, but be patient).

Alrighty, I'm doing this a quarter at a time, and I'm editing the videos down into small highlight reels (which still takes over two hours to upload, thanks Australian internet!). I am using premiere for the first time ever so my editing skills are limited at the moment, but hopefully they'll get better as our season progresses.

Some quick notes before we get to the action. In this game the rotation reset itself because I started a new association mode, which I didn't notice until after the game had started, so that is why you may notice some random players subbed on in some plays. That problem has been fixed now and won't happen again. It also meant our starters got a lot more minutes than our bench players, so my apologies to Locky, BoB, Vivi, Psy and Ashton, you guys will get much more playing time next game. So without further ado....

Coach's Notes

Great game everyone! Don't any of you get caught up in the media's comments saying that the Cavs are a bottom team and that this win was guaranteed, we went out to a hostile stadium for the first game of the season and took care of business. That said, it's early goings and we should all have the mindset that it's on to the next game. Ronnie, you were a human highlight reel out there tonight, and you led us in scoring and rebounds, so for that you're going to get tonight's Player of the Game. But special mentions go to Shauna for getting us out of a tight spot in the 4th quarter with that insane 3 pointer that halted the Cavs' run, and Vivi for shooting a miraculous 100% from the field, 3pt range and free throws. Great win team!

Dang, I most definitely would if I could but now that the season has started I think the rosters and free agents are set which would make it impossible. I will look into it for sure though and see if I can make it happen.

Alright team, we're coming off a strong win on the road, but it's a long season and we've got a hell of a long way to go. Tonight we're going up against a much tougher team in the Chicago Bulls, and we all know how stingy their defense can be. We're going to need to really lock in on the offensive side of the court and limit any mistakes that could lead to turnovers and fast break opportunities for them. I know how strong our defense can be when we have a chance to set up our zone, but if we're constantly on the back foot then they will pile points on us in a hurry. Take care of the ball, bang it into the paint and give our bigs a chance to wear them down in the post, eventually that will open up our long range shooting game. Now Derrick Rose is going to get his fair share of points no matter what, but I don't want you to make anything easy for him, or anyone else, tonight. This is our house, our crowd, and by the end of the game we want every one of their players to know that. Now get out there and give them hell!

What in the hell was that!? You guys are showing me nothing out there. You've let them come in here and completely take away our game. We need to LIMIT. THE. TURNOVERS! As soon as we do that we can start to think about actually putting up enough points on the board to chip away at this deficit that we've created for ourselves.

Okay, okay, that was better, we seem to have stopped the bleeding a little bit. We're going to put that half of basketball behind us, it's done, we need to go out there with a renewed energy. So first thing, now that we've stopped turning the ball over every time up the court I want you moving it around to find the best look possible. That means getting it inside the paint to our bigs and either drawing the extra defender and kicking it out again, or taking the man on for a close shot. We can't afford to have anymore empty possessions.



Chicago Bulls vs Eyeson Chocobos :: Fourth Quarter

We got it close, so now they know we're not going anywhere. They've had us up against the ropes all game long, but the important thing is that they haven't been able to put us down. Listen to me, if we get hot we can put up points as quickly as any team in this league, but it's not going to make a difference if we can't stop them from pulling away again like they have been. So go out there, trust each other on defense, and leave everything out on the court. If you do that, I promise that this game is well within our reach.

Coach's Notes

That's as tough a loss as they come, guys and girls. I know how hard we worked to get back into it, and to see us eek out a lead only to have it snatched away again is like a punch in the gut. We will learn from this though, because we can't win games if we only come out to play for 3 quarters, and that's exactly what happened tonight. They came out of the gates stronger and by the time we recovered we were too spent to seal the deal. We're going to put this one behind us, hit the practice court, and come out better for our next game. Shauna, once again your hot shooting was what put us in a position to win, so kudos, but I'm going to give tonight's player of the game to Raistlin. He may not have been the one lighting it up in the fourth quarter, but when we were fighting to stay alive in the middle of that game he put us on his shoulders and got us the tough, 'grind-em-out' buckets that we needed. All that while battling foul trouble and being a true force in the defensive post. On to the next one, Chocobos...

loving the work going in so far man, awesome stuff! gotta apologize for missing out on the first game, was highly drunk both days of the weekend and recovering yesterday.

but yeah enjoying it thoroughly so far, big Ronnie such a hero, some of his dunks have had me legitimately pleasure groaning watching the videos.
