I never owned this console so I don't even know what these words mean.
The only NES game I've played for any decent length of time was Super Mario Bros, so I guess this can be my answer.

Final Fantasy! Of course.
It's not like I go on just any game series' forum and start causing trouble.
The only two I've played in recently memory were the origonal two zelda games.
I hated The Legend of Zelda Less than Adventure of Link. So we'll go for that.
The Legend of Zelda. Honourable mention to SMB3.
Zelda maybe...but...SMB3 was such a well-crafted game I have to give it credit. It's one of the few games that I've known non-gamers to get into. Exquisite craftsmanship, infinite re-playability, generation barrier destructing uber funness.
Final Fantasy!
It really depends on the day. SMB3 is probably the answer for me, but it's hard to decide. I honestly haven't really played that many NES games, but there are times that all I want in life is to play Castlevania or Batman. I'll go on Gradius binges too. Somedays it is Zelda. At the end of the day, SMB3 is the one I play the most.
Mega Man 2 is my favorite NES game, though if we're just doing Nintendo properties, The Legend of Zelda is my favorite.
Super Mario Bros 1 & 2, The Legend of Zelda, Metroid, Final Fantasy, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles II, Ninja Gaiden. I can't remember which NG game I played, though. I think it was 3.
Duck hunt.
Bucky O'Hare!
Super Mario Bros.
Final Fantasy III, though I've never finished it.
Shatterhand. <3
There are tons of runner-ups though, like the original LoZ, Legend of the Kage, FF1 and 3, DQ 1 and 3, Jackal, the Mega Man series, Kirby's Adventure, Gargoyle's Quest 2 . . . it's a really long list, actually. I loves me some NES.
Mega Man 2 by far. Since I already gave that as an answer in a different thread, I'll name a runner up...hmmm...
Probably Super Mario Bros. 3. Yep, boring answer, but that game is held in such high regard for a reason.
SMB 3 deserves all the accolades it's received. I remember being so jacked when I got it. I remember my cousin getting it for his birthday & me trying to run off w/ it @ his party. Fortunately, they had a copy for me, too.
However, it's probably not even in my NES top 5. That system had so many phenomenal games. All these kids don't know what they're missing!
Well, they get a glimpse of what they missed out on with so many games being available to download from digital stores and such. Somehow, it's not the same though.
The game where its on like a cartridge thing and you put it like... IN the system or w/e
Right? Right? You guys know what I'm talkin about
Honestly, I really don't like Super Mario Bros. 3 anymore (even though it was the first console game I ever played). I tried the Virtual Console version and it just felt wrong. Almost slippery, like it had ice physics or something. It didn't control nearly as well as Super Mario World.
I'll have to think long and hard about a favorite NES game. It's the SNES that I really adore (which I didn't even have growing up).
Really a hard choice, there's so many that when I look up on YouTube now give me them feels. Such as Super Mario Bros. 3, The Legend of Zelda, Kung Fu, Contra, Duck Tales, and Ufouria just to name a few.
Kung Fu?
"WUH HUH HUH HUH HUH HUH!"
HELP ME THOMAS!!
"SYLVIA!!"
I knew there was a favorite game waiting in there.
Blaster Master.
