i said no. but it sounds intereesting. however idk if Rom hacks class as mods.
Gruntace, Romhacks are usually classed as mods, though obviously many aren't about gameplay.
I've played a modded game of VII right though, gjoerulv's Hardcore Mod (can't remember his name exactly), and I've just started a game of the Brave New World for VI. Whelk withdraw into his shell faster than I was anticipating and I had already given an attack command, so he one-shotted the party. It was fun! There's a VII mod called New Threat (or more commonly just NT) that a lot of people seem to like, so I think I'll go to that next.
thanks mister adequate. anyway i played a funny spoof of FF V and it was cool. i got some other rom hacks from Mirage. like on CT they changed your mum to Terra from FFVI

Yes, mainly my own in FF VII. It's a lot of fun making them.
I've played a bunch of ROM hacks, and attempted to make my own until I realised how much effort it would be to do correctly.

Yes. I played a rom hack of FFVII on the NES not all that long ago.

Back when I was a young adult and lived with my folks, I modded the original FF and I had the King in the beginning say something like, "Yo, if you guys rescue the princess, I'll let you all run a train on her." My dad happened to walk by the computer area and asked me what the hell I was playing.
i played a Swedish translation of FFV, and it was hilarious. Nothing else changed but the language, though, so not really much of a mod.

I've tried a couple, mainly ones that seek to re-balance the game and increase the difficulty. Playing a game that you like only with new added challenge (ie FF4 DS) is great, but usually it seems like they were less about creating a fun and engaging challenge and more about creating something punishing that they can point to while thumping their chests and deriding the masses who play the regular version.
