Are you a master when it comes to this famous game of skill?
Hahaha no
Never even tried it!
I used to be, I doubt I would be any more though, it's been years since I played it.
I'm not a chessmaster, but I enjoy playing it quite a bit. Until the computer starts dancing circles around me and I have to flip a table at it.
Hahaha, not at all.
i understand the game. but thats about it
To be really good at it, you have to memorize certain strategic move-sets, which kind of ruins it for me. I like to play and think ahead a couple moves, but mostly I like to play on pure instinct, which isn't so great for the game, but gives me more satisfaction when I do win.
Not when faced with someone who's actually competent.
Yeah, this. When I did play somewhat often I had memorized a few openers and responses to openers (I have no clue what the terminology is). Other than that, it was just staring at the current position of all the pieces and trying to think of where to place them for greatest effect from there. Certainly not the best way. It's been so long now, I'm not sure I remember exactly what each piece can do, and forget trying to piece together any sort of strategy. ^^;
I did really enjoy playing it though.
King me, dawg.
Recently I got back in to playing Chess. I've been playing since I was eight, but haven't played a legit game since I was twelve, so I am definitely rusty. I would say I'm decent, not terrible but definitely not good. I would lose against a human that has been playing more frequently, but I can house a beginner and a computer. If heaven is real I want to play chess against Stanely Kubrick in heaven.
Chess? I'll own all you scrubs. You'll quickly grow tired and dismayed the more you hear me yell "KING ME" after all the ownage!
I'm okay.
Pulled off Scholar's Mate on my ex father in law once.
But other than that I'm horrible at it, horrible.
I was in the chess club for 2 yrs :D! I use to love chess, but I haven't played seriously tho in like 10 yrs.
I could beat an average joe who doesn't pay attention to known strategies the same as I do, but I'd lose to anyone who has actually studied the game.
'You played a good game of chess. Too bad the game was poker.'
I know how to play chess. But I would probably be flattened by anyone who I played against.
I pulled off a scholar's mate once. Everyone experiments in college though, right?
I used to be very good at chess but I haven't played in years. I used to play my dad all the time and he was excellent. I only managed to beat him twice. My Dad's step-dad was ridiculously good at chess though. He used to play my Dad whilst having his back to the board. He would just memorise all the moves and he would still beat my dad... without even looking at the board once!
I'm very good for someone who doesn't play it.
My chess experiences generally go along the following lines.
Chess Master Leigh: "So, the horse-y one. That's Knight right?"
Weakling Opponent: "Er, yup"
Chess Master Leigh: "And they like...move in L shapes?"
Weakling Opponent: "You got it"
Chess Master Leigh: "So, can I just move in straight line too? Like a lower case L?"
Weakling Opponent: "Uh, wut? No, you can't..."
Chess Master Leigh:"So what has to be the longer line? Like a long bottom part, or a short bottom part of the L?"
Weakling Opponent: "Dude...You actually know how to play this game right?
Chess Master Leigh:"Can horses actually strafe anyway?"
I'd like to consider myself as a pretty good chess player. My dad was the chess champion of Surrey once or twice and I've beaten him before (took many years to be able to do so) and outside of losing to my dad, I have only lost 2 games before and that was in an online game (which ended 2-1).
I would be excellent against a Wookie.
Let him have it. It's not wise to upset a wookie.
Ah yes, I predict the classic "Wookie's Rage" tactic in 15 moves.

Not very good at all. I could probably school beginners but aside from my lack of interest in memorizing openers and such, my patience inevitably gives way to the desire to plant an axe in some things face. That goes for pretty much all strategy games.
Its been years since I last played chess, though I'm not that good for any tournament.
Does a Bear Pope use Charmin ultra-soft?No. I am terrible at chess and I bring shame and dishonor to my family.
I am alright at it. I haven't played it in a long time.
A few years ago, I would frequently defeat the PS1 Chessmaster 3D at 70%, and sometimes on 80%. I don't know how that relates in real-world skill, but it must have been pretty decent, because I also did speed chess for a while with a local group, where I would very rarely lose or even stalemate. I used to love memorizing patterns and such, I was also really in love with Rubik's cubes for a while.
