EoFF Ranks Final Fantasy 2015!

Greetings Nerds and Nerdettes!

New year means time for a new EoFF event, and why not start off the year by getting into arguments about which Final Fantasy game is the best!? I should have sent you a message with the details, but if I haven't here's how you can join in:

PM Dat Matt a list your three favourite final fantasy games. This includes spin-offs, sequels, prequels etc.

That's how to participate in the nomination stage. Nominations ends at 22:00 GMT on 18/01/2015 so I hope you can send your entries in by then! If I missed you off the PM list, post your anger in the thread. Your tears are my sustenance sorry for missing you. Just send me a PM directly and I'll add you to the nominations.


Actual Event

Starting from 19/01/2015 there will be a daily poll here in General Final Fantasy. We want you to vote in the thread and comment which one of the two options are the best final fantasy game. The winner of these polls will move up the rankings in a tournament style ranking until a victor is crowned. Simple and fair.

I'll look for nominations, and you look forward to the first event of 2015 here at EoFF!

I imagine this doesn't by nature include Chrono Trigger, as it's neither a spin-off nor a sequel/prequel.

I've sent my nominations.

It's going to be difficult in some of the polls because I've never properly played FF, FFII, FFIV or FFV. When I had a PS2 I bought Final Fantasy Chronicles (I & II) and Final Fantasy Anthology (IV & V) and I tried them briefly but I couldn't get past the sprites. Go on, call me shallow. I did however play VI almost (I believe) up to completion, but after a certain event I got kinda lost and gave up. The story for that was good enough to look past the sprites, and it makes me want to play the others so that I can comment fairly on all the games. I just didn't give them a chance.

Also you need a list of nominees, else how would I know if ffxiv arr is a separate entry to original ffxiv?

What if I like some ffxi expansions more than the whole??????

I think those may be covered in "spin-offs, prequels, sequels", even if technically they aren't.

If you send in FFIII steam edition, and another user sends in FFIII NES they both get counted as FFIII. Same applies for all games with various versions.

Chrono Trigger is excluded I'm afraid. It we did include these extra series Bravely Default would totally win.

For those interested. We currently have a 3 way tie in nominations for 1st place. There is only one numbered Final Fatantasy game with no votes so far. Clearly everyone hates that one!

Think I know how this is going to finish?

1st. Final Fantasy VII (Almost Certain...)
2nd. Final Fantasy X
3rd. Final Fantasy IX

You'll never know! The top 5 you listed doesn't match the top 5 from the nominations received so far!

I predict this'll be the top 5:

1. FFXII
2. FFX-2 HD Remastered
3. FFX HD Remastered
4. FFVIII
5. FFIX

Matt is going to rig the polls so FFXIII wins.

I think FFVII is the popularity king. Something about spiky hair, I guess.

EoFF's hipster crap will win out!

Even with 36 entires, nominations are close for first place with a 2 way tie for 3rd place, 2 way tie for 2nd place and 1st place only being ahead by a single nomination! I'm curious to see how the nominations relate to the actual votes though...
