Well? Are you literate enough to read the novels?
why isn't there a "working on it" option!? :p
If by read the books you mean watched the TV show... then yes I have!
I was in the process of reading the first book before losing interest altogether.
Currently in the middle of book five. It's just now getting interesting.
Of course I have, snubs.
As soon as the first season of the show ended I immediately rushed out and bought the smurfers. I had to know what happened next. By a bizarre quirk of fate my copy of A Clash of Kings was actually A Storm of Swords Part 1 inside the same jacket and I read a fair few chapters before figuring it out. I was like, what the smurf, why do people keep talking about Renly's ghost? Is this one of those go forward in time and then flashback the important stuff dealies?
Yes, and I don't care to read them ever again. It was a massive chore with little payoff.
I read the first three. Hesitant to read more because I hear it takes a turn for the (even more) convoluted, and the show gives me what I need.
I'll tell my bitchy saga again. It's cathartic for me, so don't judge. :mad2:
I read Game of Thrones in '97...maybe '98. I know I was still in high school, just getting out.
Then I read the other two books as they came out.
Then I waited. Then I continued to wait.
The Feast for Crows finally came out in '05. After that I heard he was going to start making a televised adaptation of the series, and I rage quit.
I really like the series, but Martin is old and not healthy. He's in his mid 60's and it'll be another 10 years (at least) before he finishes the seventh book. Plus it might not be the last one. It's been close to 20 years since I read the first book. I'm not going to let this turn into another Wheel of Time situation where I'm in the middle of a series and the author croaks. That old, fat man better get his ass in gear and stop wasting time on bulltrout games and tv series. :argh:
So, having said that, I'm completely ignoring everything about the books, the games, the shows, the culture, all that. At this point I've probably forgotten most of what I read anyway. I'll come back and start the series over again if and when he finally wraps it up.
Of course, but I ain't smug about it (see how I used the word "ain't" to prove I'm not a pretentious bastard?). I like the books and I like the show. I try to think of them separately and not ever compare them, because it's just more enjoyable that way.
Red the books and now can't go back and read the man who used to be my favorite author. What a turd.
I have read them up to a certain distance. Some of the things I've read haven't happened yet, some of the things I've seen I've yet to read about. I'm pretty happy at this point to continue with the TV series and then read another chunk when it's over so I'm once again able to enjoy surprises in both the TV series and the books.
Man I am currently reading ADwD and it is legitimately the most dull thing ever. I don't care about any of these plots. D:
I have not, but I want to.
Yes, but it's now annoying that I invested a lot of time in them and it will probably be another 20 million years before they're finished.
I gave in and started watching the shows. The books are just too slow for me. I will read them but who knows when.
