Media Exchange?

The boyfriend and I are doing a few of these right now. I'm reading a book he recommended me and he's reading a book I recommended him. We're doing the same with a video game once we complete what we have going now.

So I was thinking this might be a fun activity for the forum? Basically you can pick a partner, or several, and do an exchange. Either books, movies, TV shows, video games, whatever else. You just have to make sure it's something the other person has access to or can easily get access to. Also try to be nice about it. Don't recommend something you thought was really bad to be mean and try to pick something the person will be able to tolerate. That doesn't mean give them something exactly to their tastes, because part of the point is to expose them to something new, but if you know they get queasy at blood, maybe don't recommend a gory show or movie.

So would anyone like to try this? There's a few ways we could execute it. Either people themselves can pick partners based on who is interested, or we could put some names in a hat and do a draw. I think it would be nice if we could do communication through this thread so people know what's going on and can give feedback on how they liked/disliked the thing and why.

So feedback welcome and sign ups are welcome. I think it would be a fun project to do!

Sounds like fun. I'd be up for it. I've always been rather interested in finding 'hidden gems' in places I wouldn't think to look. It's how I got to know my current favorites after all.

I think he said something about not having the correct system to play the game I loaned him anymore, so maybe he can tell me what systems he has and I'll trade out that game for one of the games I have on a system he does own.

Then I'll finally finish playing Nier, because it was a good game, I'm just lazy and forgetful.

I'll go with any medium. Be it a book, movie, TV series, anime series, comic, game or visual novel. Doesn't matter to me.

I think music, movies, and shows would work best as those don't take nearly as much dedication and time as books but if someone wants to do a book thing, go ahead.

So let's make a list maybe? I think it's more logical to randomly choose, unless so won't has someone specific they wanna pair off with. (You should really let it go, Sharky, though. He's just not that into you :( )

Fynn, I'll let you know when CA decides what he wants and in the meantime we can all think up stuffs for our partners. Then we post the decided media here.

Then of course we watch the movie, TV show, read the book, play the game, whatever else, and post out thoughts and stuff here, and if people enjoy this enough we can keep going with it.

If you don't know your partners tastes very well then ask questions and whatever, which can be done wither via PM or just right here. But once you decide the media, please post it here for the sake of participation.

Also, there's no hard and fast time limit, just try to make an effort.

Well after a bit of pondering I'm going with the obvious choice for obvious reasons, Umineko no Naku Koro ni. I hope you enjoy it, Pumpkin~

For anyone else who's interested, information about acquiring it here.
It's made up of two parts at four 'episodes' each. You can buy the two parts legally here (First Half: $25.95) and here (Second Half: $30.95). (You can also pirate both parts from erogedownload). The versions you buy are initially in Japanese but applying the patch is very simple. You can download the English patch for the first half here and for the second half here. It should be as simple as installing the Japanese game first, then running the patch.

I'm behind the times here, apparently. I have a wii that I can play Eternal Darkness on, I just don't have access to my room to play it on. It is very possible I can get to it before the end of the summer though if all goes as planned with my living situation.

Let us exchange games and fun times, sharky. Unless you've moved on to someone else because of my aloofness. I'm not caught up in this thread.

Is it too late to sign up? My main medium is gaming so I'm good with any outside of that provided I can work it around my reviewing schedule. I warn you however, if you want me to read a book I have not managed to finish one since Half Blood Prince no matter how good I thought it was.

Ohh also, I have decided on Dark Cloud 2 for Karifean! I went back to my top games list thread and saw how he said he had some fun with the first, and the second is overall an improvement. It's not the deepest story, but it's still good in a cheesy way, and it's incredibly fun. Hopefully he likes it :D

Pretty much all forms will be hard, but we'll say games since that's what ToriJ wants to do.

You could do something different if you want. I thought he said he wanted something other than game anyway? But you don't both have to do the same media.

I'm happy with any media, but tv shows and films are easier for me to get a hold of, and less of a commitment than a book or video game! I have some music I would like to exchange though!

I have decided on Battletoads & Double Dragon for the Sega Genesis for Scotty. Why Sega Genesis? Because that's the version I grew up with.

Yes, there really was a crossover game between them. That was my introduction to the pair. I always played as the toads. Watch out for Big Blag, Scott.

I enjoyed the first episode! It was a bit hard to follow here and there but otherwise I enjoyed! Looking forward to the rest of the series - only 8 episodes. I like Peggy, she is how I imagine myself in comic book form! Sassy, smart, and fabulous!

Dark Chronicle (Dark Cloud 2) came in the mail today! Gonna be a busy week, but I'll try to make some time for it.

I did some deep visitor message creeping. I'm not proud.

Fringe was one of the options Night Fury gave me. Two episodes in and really liking it!

Oh I started mine today! Got about 30 minutes in and had to make dinner. We will see how it goes. Also a big thanks to Karifean for helping me get it all set with the patches and whatnot :jess:

Finally got around to starting Dark Chronicle. I'm liking it so far. Taking pictures for an energy pack at the moment. I'm still figuring out the gameplay but it looks neat. Can't wait to get the second main character ^^
