And for the record, the man was about 37 years old when he entered politics. And it wasn't for another ten years that he even held any political office. If you're suggesting someone who had a six or seven year gap between his finishing University and starting in politics never had a real job then I'll call bulltrout on that one. Just because you don't know what he did doesn't mean his employment history begins when he started running for political offices.

How well has socialism actually worked out for Cuba? It seems like a majority of the people there struggle to get by. I agree with a lot of Bernie's ideas but socialism has proven to be a degression. Cuba has Marxism/Leninism, not socialism. Not really a good example to pick anyway as it would probably be doing a lot better without crippling US sanctions too. It's like saying democracy is pointless because of how well it's gone in Iraq.
If you want a better but not perfect example, the politics of Western Europe (I don't mean godawful trout like the UK by the way. I mean Scandinavia, Switzerland, Austria, et cetera) are much more socialist than America, and it's these countries that have a higher standard of life for its citizens than in the US. Free healthcare should be an inalienable right in any and every developed country and it baffles me that the USA doesn't have that.

When I visited the USA the thing that shocked every American I spoke to without fail was the amount of time off that I was able to take from work for my trip. So while I didn't know of the numbers pointed out in that graph, they don't surprise me in the least.
Not American here, but hoping y'all vote for Bernie. I don't know whether it's because I've been brainwashed by Tumblr to cheer for him, I'm guessing that's a very high possibility, but he does sound like a potentially fantastic president.

Carly's platform is weak. It's mostly been just "I'm not Hillary" That's what most of her speeches have been about. That and how Trump said she had an ugly face. I'm interested in her but I can't really find out what she's even about besides that she's "not Hillary" Which is hardly a reason to vote someone.
Rubio's platform is how we need to increase our military.(He's one of the senators who tried to botch international discussions with Iran with the stupid letter, he thinks we should "address" Iran... whatever that means...) And he is against net neutrality (pft.) He says he wants to cut taxes(give breaks to people with kids) but his plan would actually raise tax rates for housholds at 75k/yr to 35%. (Normally that's for people with a 400k/yr income)
A lot of the candidates, republican and democratic alike, have very loose terms as their running platforms. Many are just going for "I'm not Obama" which like the not hilary is hardly a reason to vote for someone. That or they are going for the emotional response for pro-life or about immigration. Their actual opinions on polices are a bit short. It is still "early" in the race though, that's probably why.
So even Trumps "telling it how it is" has been mostly emotional kneejerking the topics.
That's why many are liking Bernie Sanders as he's been pretty clear what his points are from the beginning.
And folks that's the "kc has been paying too much attention to news lately". The debate tonight should be interesting. Carly will actually be in it and Trump "promised" to be nice this time.
I watched the debate the other night. All the candidates did well, but Carly Fiorina gained a lot of ground; she is going to surge in the polls. Trump also stated that CNN treated him better than Fox News did. Also, it was watched by about 23 million viewers.

Yeah I watched it. It was trash. 3 hrs of blah. They didn't talk about any topics other than knee-Jerk reactions. I still have no idea how they are going to affect actual US issues.

A woman is more likely to win over Bernie who is a short Jewish man. A majority of our presidents have been tall and Christian. One recently said that the Earth absorbs all the spilled oil from the tar sands, so it's okay (i.e. won't hurt the environment). Another wrote in to say gay conversion therapy is cool by him. Or the fact that basically all environmental groups are being harassed by the CRA (our taxation body) if they try to speak out about the lack of environment on most election platforms. In the grand scheme, he is. Hilary is still the forerunner of the Democrats. And the Republican party is so flooded right now. They are just being talked about more because there are so many of them. So with Hilary and all the large amount of Republicanss in the news, people either don't know about Bernie, or he's not their first choice.

Yes, but, they are also the ones who vote the least. So even if 18-34 crowd loves him, they don't vote enough. So he doesn't end up with a majority cause of that. Hilary has a stronger base on that front for the Dems. She's beating him in near every state's polls.
Obama initially won because he got the 18-34 crowd to vote. If Bernie can do the same, he'll win. That group just doesn't vote as much though. The Republicans are doing a great job of stirring them up recently though. So they may. But he has to get past Hilary first. Many don't vote in primaries so that's the underdog challenge.
I have literally only heard one person irl say they support Hillary. All I see/hear is Bernie and Trump.

Obama may be black but he was willing to keep some of the things the Republicans laid forth and on top of that he's tall and imposing with a leader's voice and he's Christian even though many right wing people will swear he is Muslim and a Manchurian candidate. I will be more shocked if Bernie Sanders wins than I was with Obama. I wasn't shocked at all when Obama first won (though I was when he won the second time).

Honestly, this debate went so muh better than the Republican ones. They weren't tearing each other down. They weren't trash talking their looks and personality. It was refreshing.

Right now the biggest problem I have with politics here is how much money Giant corporations have way to much influence with all the money they dump in, and right now we only have two canidates speaking out on how horrid the very premise of Super Pacs are. Bernie Sanders and.... bizarrely Donald Trump. Each one has a lot of politics I disagree with, but both of them want to do something about Super Pacs, so smurf it. One of those two.
