Has anyone here experienced this - you meet someone and think "Oh my God, I wanna be their friend so smurfing bad!"?
I've had this a couple times, but that might be because I'm both very shy and very sociable, and all my old friends are far away and I just can't make new ones.
If I want to be someones friend and our social classes allow it (eg, its not a celebrity platonic crush) I will generally try to find a way to subtly weasel myself into their life. Unfortunately for them I'm usually successful. Though generally they have to be at least a friend of a friend of a friend or circumstances have caused us to be acquaintances before I can make my move, I cant just go up to a stranger on a train I find fascinating.

If I ever hear anyone avidly discussing something that interests me (rpgs, anime/shows I've watched, music I like) I want to join in sooo bad but the one time I did I was ignored (so awkward) so now I'm scarred and just listen on in quiet anguish when it happens D:

Yes there is this girl in my class, she is very nice and so far hasn't posted anything racist and/or bigoted on facebook and she's mentioned how she's trying to find friends and it's hard to do and in my head I'm like "YES I TOO NEED FRIENDS"
But then I just can't talk to her beyond saying "nice shirt" and nodding awkwardly
And the semester is almost done so oh well :/

Yes, I've had this quite a number of times in my life. I become fascinated with certain friends and want to hang out with them and talk to them constantly. Sometimes it fizzles out slowly over time but the memories and bond remain in rare times we catch up. Sometimes I frighten them off. :') Oops.
When you find that friend that you just love being around, though, and they feel similarly, that kind of friendship is the best friendship life can offer.
