Winter Ciddies '15 Voting Thread!

Ho ho ho, Merry Cidsmas!

You have chosen your nominees! Some of the nominees were the wrong nominees, but I suppose that can't be helped. Award Claus supports free speech and all of that nonsense. Now it is time to vote! Remember, one vote per award. The exception is Best Member, in which you will rank your three picks in order! The Highwinds are sadly only for the staff to vote in because they're meanies who want to exclude you. PM your votes to me, Award Claus!

Get your votes in by Friday, December 11th at 5:00 PM EST. Late votes will not be accepted, unless you get in touch ahead of time as to why you may need extra time. There's a massive jump from an award like most friendly to then most intimidating which has all kinds of negative connotations, same with most dramatic. You can argue that most dramatic can mean something else but let's be honest, it is biggest tantrum thrower. I thought the ciddies were supposed to celebrate positivity?

Wait, when did we "have" to remove any award? Sexiest was still there when I did it, and I don't remember any problems. One Ciddies host's choice does not mean it's a categorical ban. And for years, the Ciddies has been used for friendly mocking -- just look at nominations for MLT Get Together, or half of the things BoB or Steve have ever been nominated for. The personality awards are often the most fun, and should cover a range of personalities. I could just as easily interpret "intimidating" as an intelligent, intimidating personality. "Dramatic" could be used by voters to identify exuberant, excitable personalities. Each voter has their own reasons for nominating and voting how they do (see e.g., Shorty -- who is an unquestionable, and in fact unmatched whinebag -- and Sephex -- who is much harder to associate with any "whining" connotation and is more likely associated with being excitable), which is part of the fun.

There was a massive hoo ha when I ran the ciddies over sexiest member Raistlin!

And one instance of moronic butthurt over a contested, actually positive and desirable award, means we can't have any fun and varied personality awards... why? Based on that logic, if we couldn't have awards that a lot of people would want, or would put some members above others, shouldn't we also eliminate Best Member- and Best Poster-like awards? Pretty soon you won't have any Ciddies left to give.

EDIT: Also, upon reflection and a glance at the archives, I do remember some silly "controversies" over FFXIV-playing members and the way every Ciddies host ever has cut off nominations, but I don't remember what it was about Sexiest. I may just be getting old.

EDIT2: Ahaha did I really come in second for Cutest that year? That is almost as amusing as my near-win for Sexiest the time before.

I'm sorry if you feel uncomfortable with the current list of awards. However, it's done now and a lot of people are having fun with them and may interpret them in a different way. If you would prefer to have these awards removed in the future, please feel free to open a discussion about it in the Events Committee forum before the Summer Ciddies. In the meantime, hopefully you can enjoy the Ciddies as they are, and try to have fun with your friends anyway.

If you replace 'egg' with 'vod' and 'nog' with 'ka' then we are making a more accurate statement. You have to grab the kind near the bottom of the shelf. I'm all for it. I empathize with your back pain as I coincidentally have the same problem.

I will continue to have plans on the Sunday so it makes no difference to me.

Anyway the Ciddies should be done in one sitting because everyone must feel that pain (not back pain the pain of all the Ciddies)

Laptops are the worst for your back, though. If you want to work at a computer for extended periods of time, you need a PC with a separate monitor and all that jazz

I'm with one/two day Ciddie procedure, personally. Either works well. With a Two day Ciddie you have a natural break after the MLT awards anyway. I suppose the benefit of a one day Ciddie is the spectacle of it all, but I'm not too fussed either way. Whatever is easiest and best for everyone, I say.

Nah, it should be down to the runner of the event. If you want to do it over two days, do it. Nobody really cares that much about the split. :p We care more about the individual's well being!

I may not be able to vote due to moving house not having wifi shenanigans! :(

Two day split works for me. I'll likely be editing my video over the weekend and will be going back and forth between that and the site anyhow.

We're about an hour away from the 24 hour close, but I'm warning you now because Mrs. Claus and I have dinner plans and I need to spend some time in the powder room before I leave~

I guess it was actually four (five only if you count the announcement of the Lifetime Achievement Awards). I did the MLT awards over 3 days in a sort of pre-Ciddies buildup. It was just a couple of years ago, so I think you were even around for it.

I got a lot of good feedback about it, so I have been disappointed no one has again tried to deviate from the one-day extravaganza.

I think I vaguely remember it being stretched over four days? Lemme think, I became re-active about 2012, so quite possibly, if it was the Summer or Winter Ciddies that also had the EoFF Olympics event. I don't really take my official join date as my 'join date', to be honest. I'd say I joined in 2012. :p

Me too. Though that's mainly because I haven't done anything to get another nomination for the two I had last time, and MLT Be Banned is absence. As usual I'm just glad I got nominated at all.
