Fat_moogle you raise a good point, you expect Edea to continue being an antagonist but she doesnt. Thats why final fantasy 8 is one of their best stories, for so many reasons.
And some of you have taken the definition of couples loosely i see, but it is an interesting discussion to have (maybe even in a new thread) about who shouldve got together rather than did. And I know theres a scenario where Cloud and Barrett hook up if you play the game that way, but Im having a little trouble with Biggs and Wedge as a couple seeing as you never do see them hook up lol. Zell and hot dogs I get though....
Zidane & Garnet are the only major couple I "bought" that wasn't pre-established. You could see Zidane become more mature and Garnet become more independent. It felt pretty genuine and was essentially Yuna & Tidus but actually cute and likable. Locke & Celes, Fran & Balthier, and Lulu &
Wakka I kinda liked too.

I'd always loved Zidane and Garnet as a couple (they're just adorable) until I came across Locke and Celes. Unlike most couples in FF that are a little too perfect (especially Yuna and Tidus/ Rosa and Cecil) these 2 have a rocky relationship, even some trust issues at one time.
So here's my list:
Locke and Celes <3
Zidane and Garnet
Tidus and Yuna / Cecil and Rosa
Beatrix and Steiner / Bartz and Faris (I think he's got a thing for her, but they're actually not a couple)
I know that people will disagree, but it's definitely Squall and Rinoa for me. I have always loved them as a couple, but I have realised that they are the only ones I truly care about in a serious way, in that I care that they get together and get emotional watching them, whereas the other couples/potential couples that I like in Final Fantasy games simply have a few cute moments to me. I actually watched the "Eyes on Me" scene on YouTube twice in the same night very recently (as well as the ending), and each time I was reduced to tears, the same as I was back in the day. They just always seemed the most believable to me, and the most real to me.
I know not everyone will agree, but this is how I feel about them.

Yeah, I never really found Squall to be emo. I respect other peoples opinions, but I never considered him to be emo at all. I kind of get why people do, but I think it's just a misconception on what being an emo is. Also, I don't think Rinoa needs to try very hard to be cute. ^_^
