There are some nay sayers on this site (I've met some of them) who don't like this game. I shall stake my heart on the line and dare to utter the words: "This game is better than X"
Come and get me! Or agree with me, whichever floats ya boat.

You'd be echoing the sentiments of the majority of people on site. I like X-2 just fine, but I don't personally rate it above X. :gator:
Still leap and bounds better than the stuff that came out for X later.
Yeah, the general consensus around these parts are FFX-2 is really really really dumb, but it's a fun game to play.
Final Fantasy X-2 has it's problems, but overall it's super fun to play and I really liked the music in it too.
Yeah, FFX-2 is stupid and the story is pretty weak, but it's insanely fun.
havent played enough to know. but i really love stories and its the biggest incentive for me so so far ff x-2 isnt great for me. battles are cool though. but ah well. even X is low for me too. dunno why. also i was dreading the 1000 words scene. hate singy songs
It's an odd game where parts of it really don't work very well (the story, in general, though it does has some good spots), coupled with probably the best iteration of the ATB system in any Final Fantasy and a very good adaptation of the job system. The only thing I'd change about the job system in this game is the balancing: a good amount of dresspheres aren't really that good, while two or three dresspheres are obviously the best.
But no, I really enjoyed it. Much less linear than FFX (despite using the same world, funnily enough) and much less grindy at the end-game sections.
I agree with this statement. Its battle system is pretty interesting and the non-linear storyline is also a nice addition. :D
Although FFX is way better due to its storyline, CTB system and the Sphere Grid. :P
FFX was focused mainly on Yuna's pilgrimage, so linearity was natural there.
Yuna and her companions could focus on their lives after The Calm, hence the non-linearity of FFX-2.
Awful story. Awesome everything else. And it's the everything else that really matters.
Combat in FFX is stale and underwhelming with no sense of urgency. I fell asleep in boss battles from boredom. Sphere grid is a decent progression system but I've always been a sucker for job systems, like FFX-2 had. Gameplay is less linear with multiple endings possible, making for a lot more replay value.
That said, I simply said FFX-2's "everything else" was awesome, i never compared it to FFX' everything else, because that really doesn't matter for my enjoyment of this particular game :p. But since you brought that up, no, I disagree.
Job systems are where it's at.
And I actually liked that the story was stupid with zero of the original's pretentiousness :monster:
While X was silly trying to act deep :bounce:
But yeah, joking aside, X-2 is cool. And I'll forever remember how awkward the massage scene was when I had to do it in front of one of my mom's students as she was waiting for her to come home.
How was I supposed to know it was going to happen? It was my first playthrough :p And I wanted to save before the lesson so I was speeding through it anyway
where are you groping
I'm wondering what the student was thinking, to be honest.
Yeah...
Huh. If anything they should happen more frequently in your case.
I wonder how your mom would react to the massage scene :p
At least it wasn't the secret hot springs scene in Mt. Gagazet.
Nah, I think the massage scene is worse. What's worse - three girls flirting in bikinis, or one girl straddling another, trying to give her an orgasm?
There's a fine line between erotica and porn :p
And no, porn is not when they show the ugly bits in action XD I mean, that too, but not only that
I love X-2, it's so much fun! And I play games to have fun, so big check mark there. Also lady characters and outfit changes VERY YES
AND DIFFERENT MISSIONS
The hot spring scene should have been a FMV. Missed opportunity there, Japan. I am disappoint.
And what a pervy force it is
'tis a masterpiece.
It's the music that plays when Clasko makes love to all those poor chocobos you bring him.
OHHH YOU'RE A GOOOD BOOYYY OH YEAH.
I downloaded this onto my Vita when I finished my recent FFX play through. I played the opening 30 minutes and it does look fun. Currently slogging my way through FFII because i'm a masochist. I'll get round to giving it a go though. Intrigued by dress spheres. Go ahead, judge me.
This is gonna sound stupid, but while I agree it's a better game, I've never been able to bring myself to finish it, much less get 100%
Meanwhile my current FFX save is close to filling out the sphere grid.
I had like 5 iron dukes on my PS2 save. Ah, those were the times.
The story is awful, and 99% of the dialogue is incredibly cringe in a very bad way. The gameplay itself is fun, the battle system is great, and the world of Spira is always good to explore.
One thing I can never forgive though is what they did to Blitzball. Now that I can't abide.
They really did ruin blitzball.
Not that there was much to ruin, tbh
I liked almost everything about the game.
It was like Square knew they were making a campy, corny game and just focused on the gameplay and the fun theme.
All of the games take themselves so seriously, so when there's a weak point it feels like a really bad mistake. X-2 is so charming and silly that I'm not even mad at it's weak points. It was a great game, and getting mad at it's weaknesses feels like I'm getting mad at a puppy. You can't get mad at a silly, sweet puppy!
Ugh so what is so enjoyable about this game? So far i finished first chapter and even if i ignore the fact they ruined spira and FFX for me, i can't even call the battles fun. WAY too high random encounter rate, battles so fast that i can't even enjoy them and all the laginess like having to wait few seconds after each battle to confirm the exp gain?
What am i missing that you guys enjoy so much.
I happen to enjoy how much it craps all over FFX
Ummm have you heard of a pause button Fynn? *dies of embarrasment at Fynn's past embarrasment*
Afterthought: I really should read the whole thread before answering. Formalhaut reached the same conclusion days before I did. I'm so negligent of the threads I start
*passes out and dies of embarrasment once again*
Its the social anxiety talking my dear Zanmato. I have a mind that cannot comprehend Fynn's willingness to continue an embarrassing game scene in front of someone, I also have an embarrassment for repeating the exact same thing Formalhaut said because I didn't bother to read the rest of the thread at first. I'm ok though, I was making fun of my own social anxiety, its good to laugh at yourself, otherwise........
You don't have to have social anxiety to not want to do embarrassing video game segments in front of your parents or their friends. I, for one, do not play dead or alive around people who are not both my friends and of similar age.
