With his buster sword clutched tightly, Cloud charges toward his foe. Bringing the blade in a wide arc, he attacks with all his STR... The attack is a success!
-40 HP to Laguna!
Laguna shakes off his foe's last attack, he now has 160/200 HP
Getting back into a defensive stance, Cloud remains on 200/200 HP

"Damn... well I guess that giant sword isn't just for show. But what can you do... against a barrage of bullets!?"
I use Scatter Shot.
Laguna wastes no time in firing back with his ability, SCATTER SHOT! Deafening gunshots are fired as bullets rain down on Cloud.
Laguna does -10 damage to every one of Cloud's stats!
Cloud feels the effects of the bullets but is unharmed on 200/200 HP

Laguna opts to attack with his DEF stat... but his attack fails!
Unable to penetrate his foe's guard, Laguna does -10 damage to to his own HP!
Cloud returns to his motionless state, still with 200/200 HP
A frustrated Laguna has been lowered to 150/200 HP
STR and DEF have been played.
The next move goes to Cloud!

Cloud erupts from his charge state and streaks towards his foe with all of his SPD. He prepares to strike at his foe with added power... but the attack fails!
Out pacing the warrior, and using his own charged attack against him, Laguna is able to deal -40 HP damage to Cloud!
With renewed confidence Laguna remains on 150/200 HP
Cloud is stunned and now has 160/200 HP
STR, DEF and SPD have been played.
The next move goes to Laguna!

I use MDF! Or MAGD. Whatever you want to call it.
A few miss hits this battle, this is closer than I was expecting.
Laguna jumps backwards and cocks his gun, preparing to use his MAGD to deal the final blow... His attack is a success!
Laguna does a crushing -50 damage to Cloud's HP!
Cloud is further damaged and brought to 110/200 HP
Laguna holsters his weapon and sits with 150/200 HP
4 stats have been played. The battle is over...

OOC: Thanks gents. Good game. Galuf, if I could offer a piece of advice (even though I might get in trouble from Ultimecia for doing so >.>) it would be this; Braver should really always be played with your first move of the game. That way you will ideally have 2 strong offensive stats to choose to use it with, and won't be put in a position where you will damage yourself like in that game.
That said, I can tell you both that some minor changes are being made to both of your abilities so keep your eyes out in the Change Log to see what those will be. Thanks again to both of you :)
Good game. If you'd used the Chocobo Feather you probably could've turned it around.
Though that reminds me, can Cloud use items inbetween using Braver and a stat matchup, or does he HAVE to follow up Braver with an attack, lest the effect go to waste?
I didn't look at the stat sheets at all for this round. Just the post where I outlined strengths and weaknesses. I was actually quite surprised when my DEF attack failed.Quote:

Aw I didn't see you were having connection issues Galuf, I replied that you can use an item while in your BRAVER state and it will simply remain on until you next attack.
Karifean, normally your DEF would have been even but Cloud's DEF+ meant he had the slight edge this match.
Those DEF+ and other stat boosters can really change the tide of battle!
But a fascinating round, regardless.
