I suck
It's probably the genre that I excel in the most. Thousands of hours poured into Mario games have honed my skills. I am awesome.
I do pretty well, I like to think. Honestly Mario is pretty easy.
I'm pretty awesome at them.
I'm not terrible at them, though they're not my genre of choice, and that's RPGs that I'm good at, and rhythm games which I'm unbeatable at.
I don't have the time (or skill) for those Mario Maker levels that require you to memorize a series of pinpoint steps to complete it but otherwise I rock these games.
Platformers are my favorite genre but, as Super Meat Boy has shown me, I'm not especially good at them.
I think I'm decent, but hell Champion's Road doesn't make me feel like it. I've been trying to beat it for a year now.
im pretty much the worst
There was a time when I could get through the Megamans, Contras, Castlevanias, and Metroids like a boss. Find all the secrets, never die, etc. I guess those are a little different from Mario, Sonic, Earthworm Jim, or whatever, but I was pretty great at those too.
That continued with the 3D platformers like Mario 64, Jax and Daxter, and Tomb Raider.
Now I'd say I'm very average. I don't play them nearly as much.
When I think of platformer games, I think of Crash Bandicoot, Aladdin, Sonic, Earthworm Jim, etc. I'm decent at them, but they aren't a favourite genre of mine by any means. Just one that I occasionally play.
Once upon a time I was pretty good at them, but I've probably lost my skills since I don't play the genre as much anymore.
I'm ok at them if they are designed intuitively or puzzle platformers and not the type that require insane timing or precise spacial alignment.
Though I rather enjoy them, Im not very good at them. Get at me on a sports game though and prepare to get taken to school. Especially a hockey game!
My Platform Gaming List:
Spyro 2: Completed (but I think the epilogue is a cop out pile of crap)
Crash Bandicoot: Completed (but didn't get all the Crystals)
Rayman 3: Attack of the Hoodlums: What the-? I get through half of it then- big boss on a stage surrounded by firey lava thing I always fall into? Forget it
Early Sonic Games: Still attempting them from time to time
Mario 1 - 3: Can't play them well...I'm sorry but...I can't....
Castlevania IV: Love what you can do with that whip, and the music and graphics are retrotastic but- sadly can't complete it.
I've never really been into them so they definitely are not one of my strong points.
I used to love them as a kid, especially Crash and Spyro. I guess the closest I get now are jumping puzzles in Assassin's Creed and Unchartered. I get 'em done, but it may take a couple of attempts at some of the more fiendish jumps.
I was much better when I was younger. I picked up Super Mario World recently after not having played it for years and it was a pretty depressing experience.
I got Super Mario Galaxy yesterday as an early b-day present. We'll see how badly I fail!
We had a Crash Bandicoot 2 drinking game a while back, I was the least drunk. So I'm going to use that as measuring device and say I was a'ight.
If you die you take a shot then pass to the next player. The more you die the more you drink the worse you get, it's a cycle really.
I do pretty good.
